Time out for a weather report

Yikes! The snow is coming down like crazy and we are slated to get somewhere around two feet by tomorrow night. This global warming is really starting to get inconvenient. We have chains on the tires and the snowplow on the front of the John Deere, but whether we'll be able to keep up with the blizzard is questionable. Last snowfall (17 inches) our neighbor who has a BIG tractor came over and dug us out.

My only regret about this storm is that it didn't happen before the congressional break. There is something heartwarming about the thought of several hundred senators and congresmen snowbound at the capitol with the cafeteria running out of coffee and bagels. A little fasting would do them all good. On the other hand, maybe it's better they've all gone home. They might expand their verbal cannibalism after a few days into the literal kind.

Of course they could all slog over to the White House through the blizzard and sit down for a bi-partisan tete-a-tete with Barack and Michelle over an arugula salad. Maybe the Obamas have one of their favorite chefs from around the country snowed in for the duration. And Scott Brown could go one in one with the prez in the White House gym.

But it's a moot point after all since they went home before the bad weather started. Can we pray that the storm snows them out for awhile? It would be good for Washington's carbon emissions and good for the country.

  1. Here! Here! Will Rogers (I think) said that we ought to send all Members of Congress home for good, pay their salaries, perks, etc. and the country would then be WAY ahead.

  2. As I said in my own blog, I hope it causes the scheduled "Catholic Social Gathering" gabfest to go belly-up. The area abortuaries will also be closed.
