How Many Will Be Saved?

A few days ago I blogged about the saints' views on how many will be saved. Well, seems Mike Voris and I are on the same wavelength. He posted quotes from the saints on the same question. It's pretty chilling to think that most people will be lost. No wonder the little children of Fatima tied rough ropes around their waists, gave their lunches to children poorer than themselves, and drank from puddles as penance for poor sinners. "We must save poor sinners," little Jacinta with her tender heart often said.

We need to foster a tender heart for sinners. St. Francis of de Sales says to judge ourselves sternly and others with charity. So let us commit to pray, fast, and do penance for poor sinners. Perhaps the degree we are willing to suffer for others will determine our own salvation.

Jesus, be merciful to me, a sinner. Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, save souls.

  1. A priest in our diocese gave a sermon at a recent Mass and said that St. Augustine belived that 8 out of every 100,000 people would make it to Heaven. He went on to say there were roughly 100,000 Catholics in our diocese and asked who are the 8! Sobering thought. God bless.
