Go, Mike, go! We saw the same thing with the tsunami of vitriol against Fr. Tom Euteneuer. Even after Fr. Tom confessed his sin publicly and publicly repented, they heaped it on thicker with innuendo of more to come and hints of inside knowledge. But Fr. Tom is old news now and can't increase their blogcount so they've laid off him to go after a new target. Fr. Corapi's story is definitely of interest to many people. The best we can do is pray for all involved that the Lord will bring about the best outcome.
Um..Michael Voris is a Catholic whose profession is about people paying him for his web content.
ReplyDeleteA "professional" Catholic - I believe.
Corapi's obfuscations and misstatements are very weird. He began this through his very dramatic change of persona and statements like he was leaving the priesthood...just call him John now...and no - wait - he's not leaving the priesthood. And he didn't even get to know who his accuser was..and oh wait...he knew her for years..
and he's outright lying about some other things - like how he didn't charge to go speak. Sheer and utter nonsense. He wouldn't go speak in a parish unless they could guarantee him 7-10K plus a certain # in the audience who would then make purchases and other donations.
Ask anyone who's dealt with him and his company. Ask the people in Cincinnati who had him come speak a year ago and were basically kicked out of the venue for selling other non-Corapi Catholic materials.
He's clearly flailing. For some reason - but he's flailing. Publicly. No one made him do it.
In this world of disinformation, I honestly don't know what to believe in regards to this mess. But one thing I do know is that when someone speaks the horrible truth about the powers that be, Satan will pull out all the stops to destroy that person, his reputation, and all that he has worked for. The fact that the online Catholic community has turned into a school of piranhas over Corapi has me more concerned that anything else.
ReplyDeleteI suggest everyone go to www.blacksheepdog. com, and let Father Corapi speak for himself. He has not left the priesthood, but he is not allowed to speak about the situation as a priest as his facultites as a priest have been taken away for now by those over him, but he found a loophole in the law where he CAN speak about the situation as a laymen, thus the name change from Fr. Corapi to John Corapi, as he is speaking as a layperson. To anyone who does not know a lot about canon and civil law, it can be confusing, but it is not if one understands what he is doing.
ReplyDeleteIf Voris is not a " professional Catholic" is there some other way he makes his living? I found his video to be spiteful and cowardly. He wouldn't say a word about Corapi because if he doesn't support the weird things Corapi is doing and saying, he will have to deal with the Corapi fans, who take every word from the guys mouth as gospel, and who don't seem to mind that he changes his story a little every time he speaks. On the other hand if he supports Corapi and then discovers that he is a con man, he, Voris, will have backed a loser. So instead, Voris goes after bloggers who have asked (for the most part) fair questions about Corapi based on Corapi's own claims. It's Voris's chance to shove at bloggers who have called him on his own excesses. He assigns a hate motive to them, and as usual, throws red meat. As to Corapi, he makes audio statements in a slurry voice, contradicts himself at every turn, and allows a retired bishop who has his own issues to fight for him. He makes a big noise about "no longer being called 'father' but then says he is not leaving the priesthood, which directly contradicts his own letter to his SOLT superiors. I really hope the Corapi fans get their wish and Rome looks into all of this. They might regret it, though when he is exposed as a fraud. Which of course they will never believe, because everyone in the church lies, except John Corapi. Who says our lady calls him "Johnny." ugh.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I didn't hear Mike Voris defending Fr. Corapi. He said very clearly he doesn't know the truth of the matter. What he criticized was the feeding frenzy of the Catholic piranha blogs. Gosh, I know just what he's talking about. I've been bitten more than once myself.
ReplyDeleteIt seems many cannot carry on an argument (in the classical sense) without tryi ng to devour their opponents with avicious and snide manor. Certainly you can present negative evidence about Fr. Corapi, but most of what I've read is from people who present no facts, just what they've heard about his driving a BMW or whatever.
I know I can be sarcastic and sometimes that requires me to eat humble pie, but some of the bloggers are absolutely vicious. Read some of the comments on poor Fr. Euteneuer. You would think he is Satan himself. None of the good the man did counts, only his fall from grace. I keep remembering what Jesus did about the woman taken in adultery. We all have plenty of our own sins and need to be reminded of it. As Fr. Hardon often said, only humble people get into heaven.
