Mike Voris, Fr. James Martin, and the Dissenting Nuns

Oh my, oh my...hate-filled Mike Voris is questioning Fr. James Martin's "thanksgiving" to the poor, persecuted nuns. Horrors! He called Fr. Martin "duplicitous." Tut, tut. How intolerant and uncharitable of him. Just one more mean spirited Catholic who actually believes what Jesus taught. Let us pray that Fr. Martin and the dissenting religious he praises return to the fullness of the faith.

  1. Just when I fall to my knees praying to God for the likes of another St. Nicholas or St. Athanasius or St. Joan of Arc, you post something that reminds me...He's already sent them! GOD BLESS Michael Voris!...and you Mary Ann, and Carol McKinley, and the remnant of other holy warriors He's sent for such a time as this. God bless you all.

  2. Bravo Michael!! My two great Aunts were Carmelites and faithful, loving , and obedient to the Church. It was all about doing God's work not infusing feminism into their life and making it all about them!

  3. Fr Martin has a FB post today about Mary being radical, a new worldview, income redistribution, blah blah blah. The usual socialist commentary. I commented that if Mary lived in this day and age she probably would have aborted Jesus Christ! Rather than discussing it, he just said what a horrible thing to say and blocked me.

  4. I respect the nuns mentioned and they have given their life to God. I refuse to focus on them; this group is dying out. Look at the many new communities that wear the habit: teach in school, work in hospitals, as social-workers. Just to mention a few: Mother Teresa's sisters: they live poor and in a habit. It takes money to wear those nice blouses, wests and skirts... I think of the Nashville Dominicans who wear a traditional white habit and teach at university and high schools, and grade schools. I think of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St George in Alton, Illinois. These communities and others are the future of the Church. Check out their websites.
This is the futúre. Get off the rut. Respect what all those sisters did, but look to the future of the new generation of sisters that are very clear to what they want in the Church.

  5. I loved James Martin's book JESUS, a Pilgrimage, well written. Yes, he does have some ideas, upon which I frown, but to say that Mary would have aborted Jesus is a statement of hatred. Had Joseph not been faithful to Mary, she could have been stoned. That was the time she was living in, but she trusted in God.
There are many young and middle aged women who have children out and in wedlock in difficult circumstances, who are any of us to say that they should abort. (I am not saying that that is what you said.)But that is a tough statement, that just is not true.
It is bull to talk about Mary as a radical. She was overshadowed by the Holy Spirit and bore the Son of God. Mary was not radical in her time, she did what was hers to do.
I think the danger here is that Father Martin and others who utter such nonsense are trying to sell their ideas and make themselves interesting.
Father Martin give the faith that you wrote in JESUS, the Pilgrimage and cut the other stuff. You are a Jesuit of the Catholic Church. What speaks against the Church should not be upheld. Sometimes I think the laity sees faith clearer as the clergy.

  6. I was taught by the Sisters of St. Francis of the Martyr St. George at the Franciscan University of Steubenville- a great Catechetic program. The teachings of the Church are beautiful.
Some of that other stuff being talked about Mary a liberal, Jesus had a girlfriend,God as mother. These could be ideas of people that are damaged and have a hard time with any kind of truth.

  7. I don't respect what those dissenting nuns did and continue to do. Whether they are dying out or not, they continue to do great damage to the Church like the Nuns on the Bus and NETWORK with their anti-Catholic agenda and their promotion of radical feminism and pantheism.

I agree there are many new orders rising up with women who are faithful and true to Holy Mother Church. Thank God. But the old order still represents the bulk of the nuns in the United States and they continue to press on with heresy and dissent. They need to be called out on it.

  8. I agree, but not with insulting. The religious communities with young sisters must act in a positive way in their apostolates. And they do. Look at the Nashville Dominicans. They have so many sisters that they are growing beyond US borders; they are in Australia, Scotland, the Netherlands. This is the future of the Church. The Church has always had people against her, but she has survived 2000 years.God is with his Church. Of course we must do something, but I am not willing to fight those dissenting nuns, but I am willing to go out there and be a good teacher where I am sent. That is religious life. Helping the poor is getting out their with the people and helping them in their need.I know a sister, a social-worker, who gets out there with the homeless every day and makes sure they have food.
I really do not think that these dissenting sisters represent Religious Life in the USA- of course the LCWR, but the truth is a new generation is forming the Church. Thes dissenting ones are yelling about. A lay person had been at some kind of lecture where some were, she laughed and got up and left with a group of other people. She said I quote. "This is a waste of my time." She has a Ph.d in psychology and Theology and teaches at a Catholic University. The women that also left are all well educated women. One said quote. "She needs help!"
Do these woment dessent? Yes they do, but they are also making fools of themselves. Sad is when people like Father Martin, whose writing I have always appreciated, is sensationalizing about- maybe to get his name known for his books...
People that want to live in the Church are looking to these new communities. The ones that dissent are the ones that always have felt animosity or experienced hurt in the Church and must lash out. People who like that kind of bull will always listen, but the young generation that is interested in Religious Life and religion is looking to places like the Franciscan University of Steubenville and other places. Let them die out and pray for them and do your job in your apostolates and love those that are entrusted to you.

  9. I like that about the laity having the faith clearer than the sisters. When I look for sisters, I look for the ones in a habit. Maybe some may be odd, but I also know weird people in the world. Religious Life is a small reflection of what is in the world, but these want more out of life. I am about to join a religous community in Alton Illinois- A order of Franciscan women. One of the sisters was my professor in Steubenville. Hurray!

  10. Sister Mary Ann Kreitzer,
all these sisters must answer to God for the harm they have done to the Communion of Saints on Earth. The rest of us who love the Church in whatever vocation we may live in must live in, with the Church and teaching. This I desire with all my heart. I heard the Sisters on the Bus and Network; I was not impressed.I got a coke and called my friend and we met at a cafe Then I met Sister Regina Pacis, who used to be my Latin and Greek Professor. I loved what she had to say and that fostered life in me.
Have you noticed some of those sisters' facial expression. I almost cried - they were wasting away in their hatred to the Church.
I know a sister that left the Notre Dame Sisters because she wanted to lead a true relgious life. She is doing very well and is happy. Others have left these communities because they do not want to waste away in that way. I say Good for them!

  11. I agree -- good for the ones that leave. And good for the ones who continue to wear their habits in these collapsing orders and accept the suffering of persecution they receive. I know of more than one of those. And, of course, it isn't just the sisters. Fr. Hardon talked of persecution in the priestly orders and usually emphasized his comments by saying, "And I know of what I speak." Many of the Jesuits just hated him. Fr. Hardon, pray for us and for all the persecuted priests and religious suffering in the Church today.

  12. I always liked listening to Father Harden's tapes, and I agree that these sisters have been persecuted, and all the power to them for remaining faithful. I know this as a fact, and I ask you? How many sisters are out of the habit, who would much rather still wear the habit? This is terrible, and I feel for them, but I want to see a generation of Sisters who express their love for the Church and walk with us.
I am thinking of the Diocese of Lincoln Nebraska. Priests even pointed their finger at them with a laugh- too conservative (during B. Flavin's time) Their priests are numerous and all of them are somehow active in Catholic education. The teaching of the Church has always been upheld in the Lincoln dioces, and they have been blessed.
Those sister ranting hurt the laity and confuse them to even losing touch with their faith, because the Church's teaching had been taught in an irresponsible way.
As a child we lived in El Paso Texas. My mother a German and for the first time in the USA had sent me to a Catholic grade school. Then she caught on what was taught in religion, she immediately sent me to public school and said that she would give me my religious education. My mother is not conservative, but in retrospect she said that some of the ways of thinking were fantasy and unhealthy. People do reject false teaching or they sink into it and are damaged. We all have a great responsibility for one anotherin the process of the communion of saints on earth.
