I don't know who I am voting for yet, but this ad is too funny. Gotta love Ted! However, I would like to add one thing, just to inform people. Although you rarely hear about this, Ted Cruz has a "life of the mother" exception to abortion. Rubio does not. However, if at the time to vote in the primary Cruz seems to be the most likely person to edge out Trump, then it would still be morally permissible to vote for him, since Trump is a lot more liberal than he lets on; that is, IF Trump stays at the top at the time of the primary. Rubio, however, may have a better chance of beating Hillary, since he has not been so demonized in the media, and is also a bit more moderate on some issues. What I like about him, though, is that he is totally pro-life, with no exceptions.
Forgot to add, too, that, unlike what many people assume, Rubio is likely more conservative than Cruz when it really comes down to it. The reason is because Cruz wants to relegate many issues back to the States, which are far too grave to be put into this category: abortion, marijuana, gay marriage. We need federal amendments to stop these, but Cruz does not want to do that, and that is not truly conservative. In fairness, I do not yet know if Rubio thinks these are "state issues," too. He may. However, one thing I do know is that Rubio is a better "pro-life" choice than Cruz, because Rubio holds no exceptions to abortion; he is 100% pro-life. I recently saw the headline of a Catholic blogger who said they would be voting for Cruz. I'm not saying this a bad choice in all circumstances (see my analysis in the previous posting), but I would definitely say to him/her, do your homework more fully before totally deciding on this. Cruz, surely, would be way better than Hillary--but he, to my mind, is not quite the conservative darling he paints himself out to be. Beyond that, he seems to flip-flop quite often when it suits him, and then deny this, by saying that the flip-flop was his position all along. Not so honest, if you ask me.
Forgot to add this the other day, but as Catholics, we must remember that it is imperative to follow these very important guidelines when voting. They come before ALL OTHER considerations.

There is one more non-negotiable issue, however, these days: Religious freedom

ReplyDeleteAnd, remember, what happened to Kim Davis is just the beginning if we do not vote with a Catholic conscience. Scary!
