St. John Bosco in Woodstock, VA has a large Hispanic community. Some of their customs are absolutely beautiful and enrich the parish and the town. This Corpus Christi procession is one of them. The artistic work that goes into this project illustrates the respect and love they have for Jesus. And it offers and opportunity for the Hispanic and non-Hispanic members of the parish to work together to glorify God.
And so, I offer this video today and invite you to reflect on the impact such traditions have to give witness to our Lord Jesus Christ. How many people passed and wondered? How many passed and made the sign of the cross? How many passed and ridiculed but still saw?
We live in confusing times. I suspect here in Woodstock, which is filled with many --- how should I say it...normal people who still value faith and family --- that the procession was greeted with a positive attitude. It must make the devil gnash his teeth. But to see so many people bend the knee and publicly witness to Christ must have an impact.
May we never be afraid to publicly honor our Lord.
NB: I found the music annoying so I turned off the sound. Silence before the Lord give us a chance to meditate and adore.
Beautiful; makes one weep from joy to see Catholic youth (the flowers of the Church), fearlessly, and without shame professing their God given faith.
ReplyDeleteRoman Empire was not voted into a Christian Empire but converted into one…….
Lord, increase our faith!
It's true, that music is annoying. It would have been preferable a Latin hymn.
