Don't you think both have their place? How can one "spin" sin in a positive way? The Shire and Mordor were both part of the world of Middle Earth. Tolkein had a very realistic view of life this side of eternity.
Both positive and negative have a place, but we would all be a little happier if we looked for more positive and learn from the negative rather than dwell and constantly point at the negative.
Being positive or negative are habits of thoughts that have a very strong influence on life. Spin some positive!
