I'm afraid for most, love is a feeling. It's a warm fuzzy or a romantic tingle. It makes you "feel good." On the contrary, anything that makes you "feel bad," cannot possibly be love. Love is, above all, nice. It never offends anyone with a painful truth. It never mentions sin because that might make someone "feel bad." And love wants everyone to "feel good."
Whenever I hear or read ideas like that, the true icon of love comes to my mind and I think, "You haven't got a clue."
Yes, that's the real thing, and everything else is a pale imitation.
