APA Past President Says the Research on Homosexuality Never Done

According to a past president of the APA (American Psychological Association), Nicholas Cummings, unbiased research on homosexuality was never done. In a recent interview, Cummings says he introduced the resolution that homosexuality is not a mental illness. Rather, it is "characterological." (Let me emphasize that. HOMOSEXUALITY IS A CHARACTER-BASED DISORDER.) Removing it from the mental health column didn't mean homosexuality was normal, but the homosexual activists used the APA to play "let's pretend." At the time the resolution passed Cummings said they also resolved to continue research and report on whatever the research demonstrated. However, Cummings says, "unbiased open research was never done." At the time, the Leona Tyler principle was in effect which required that psychology professionals base any advocacy on demonstrable scientific research and proven experience. Dr. Cummings says that, as the APA became more political in the late 1980s and '90s, the Leona Tyler principle, which was "never withdrawn" simply disappeared. (In 2007 NARTH's governing board adopted the Leona Tyler principle.)
Dr. Cummings points out that during the 70s the feminist movement was in ascendance and the homosexual movement was less important but the two gradually joined and it was the same people working for both groups, not surprising really considering the lesbian influence in the feminist movement. I can personally testify that lesbian activism was evident early on. During the Carter administration's state meetings for the National Women's Conference, the women's meeting in Virginia was taken over by lesbians. I was there to see it and recall with distaste the women with butch haircuts and men's suits and shoes. The exhibit hall was filled with ERA and pro-abortion exhibits and even an exhibit promoting a coven of witches. It was more than bizarre!

According to Cummings, the APA was "captured" by the homosexual rights crowd and became highly politicized. Prior to that, presidents of the APA honored the Leona Tyler rule, but as the organization became more dominated by gay activists, they threw it out and today "you can't even find it in the annals of the APA." (This is a perfect example of dropping something down the memory hole, a common practice in the dystopian society of George Orwell's 1984. Anyone with eyes knows our culture has become an icon of dystopia.) In the late 1980s and 1990s there was an increasing militancy among homosexual activists and the APA "became part of the movement for diversity." It was a lofty ideal that failed because of the bias. "Straight white males are underrepresented in the APA." In fact, a select group of "ultra-liberals" took over the organization and basically played musical chairs among major positions to the point it was inbred and no disagreement was allowed. Cummings himself says, "I was president elect elect, then president elect, then president, then the APA got rid of me."

Interestingly, Dr. Cummings doesn't oppose gay marriage. He respects the right of anyone to do with their orientation what they wish, but he also supports the right of others to disagree. That, he says, is anathema with the APA.  But things may be changing because the APA is shrinking. Many members are dropping out. It's hard to tell what the future will bring he said.
