Coalition of Black Pastors Defends Traditional Marriage in Illinois...

....think it will be covered by the mainstream media? Uh...the dog ate their notes? Hahahahahahahahahaha.....

Some excerpts:
"Marriage is more than friendship and marriage is more than sexual attraction."
Bishop Joseph Perry, Archdiocese of Chicago
The cross cultureal, cross faith coalion was established "for the purpose of lifting up the truths of the Bible which states that marriage is between a man and a woman.... And we want to make sure that we send a message that we can ill afford to put the agenda of some and the few in the name of civil rights ahead of the civil rights of our children." He goes on to point out that the issue isn't about marriage, but about money being poured into the move to redefine marriage. Wow!                           Bishop Lance Davis, New Zion Christian Fellowship of Dolton
"We're here today because we believe the foundation of the family has been attempted to be destroyed and if we can do anything about it here in Illinois, we're standing together to do it.... We want it on record so that our children and children's children know that in our lifetime we stood for that which is right."
Bishop Larry Trotter, Sweet Holy Church, Chicago
"We're not giving special rights to the alcoholic; we're not giving special rights to the fornicator; we're not giving special rights to the liar; and today we're taking a stand to say we will not give special rights to those who want to marry in this situation....Let's get back to what God is saying."                           Bishop Tyrone Harrington, Greater Morning View Baptist Church
"We are not anti anyone.... In our churches we have homosexuals and lesbians and we love them all...but as far as the Bible is concerned, we stand on the word of God....If you reject this you're not rejecting us. We don't lose; you're rejecting God and God is, as much as he is a loving God, He is also a righteous God. As much as He is a God of grace and mercy, He is also a God of truth and justice. And when you deal with Him, you're going to have to deal with Him."                              Pastor Kenneth Giles, Second Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church
This impressive group puts to the lie the pretense that giving special rights to homosexuals is a matter of "civil rights." There is no protected civil right to sodomy. There is no protected civil right to do whatever you want whenever you want with whomever or whatever you want. Sinful inclinations are not protected civil rights and redefining institutions to give certain sins a special place in the culture is madness, pure and simple. It confirms what the Greek playwright Euripides said, "Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad." Satan and his minions are the "gods" of this world and they have done a pretty effective job of making the world mad. There destruction is assured if they don't repent. Those of us who still recognize the truth need to stay close to the cross of Christ and speak the truth to the culture with charity in the hope that at least some will listen. Many will hate us for it, but no matter. To be loved by Christ is worth all the persecution of which the world is capable!

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us. Our Lady, help of Christians, pray for us. St. Joseph, patron of the universal Church, pray for us. Dear guardian angels and patron saints, pray for us.

  1. I just saw a blurb in my local (Illinois) paper about how a group of black Pastors is "ramping up their support of gay "marriage", not as a religious issue, but as an equality issue." :( :( :(

  2. It is encouraging to see well-reasoned defenses coming from those for traditional marriage. Unfortunately, I don't think it's going to make a difference. There's an agenda at work, and they're pushing it harder than ever right now. I don't think it will be long before gay marriage is passed everywhere, and then the next vile perversion will emerge demanding acceptance.

I have to keep reminding myself that even if they destroy the institution of marriage in society, my marriage will still be valid and powerful in the eyes of God, and no man can take that away from me.

But it's still depressing. I was just mentioning to my husband today that I'm getting so so so tired of the gay stories all over the place. He's not very religious at all, and even HE is getting tired of hearing about it. We've made a conscious effort to avoid most of the media the last month or so, just for our own sanity, but we're still having the agenda pushed in our faces from every which direction. You pretty much have to become a hermit and forsake all technology to avoid it, and even then, it's flaunted and pushed at the stores, in public, and pretty much every written publication out there has the word "gay" sprinkled throughout, no matter how innocent the mag/book/etc. seems. It certainly feels like we're living in a modern day Sodom and Gamorrah.

  3. God bless these good men. Holiness comes in all skin colors, just as evil does.

  4. Mary Ann,

What they say is wonderful, but how many of these Ministers voted for Obama, and probably twice. They have no moral leg to stand on.
