Judging from some of the classes you're right. My son had a class in Communications where they were reading about the value of the "graffiti artists." I told him if he took another course like that he could pay for it himself. And then there are the feminist courses and the movies as literature. In fact most of the English lit courses these days are pure bunk. Shakespeare's in the dustbin and kids are studying porn! There really is a class at Pasadena City College called Navigating Porn. God help us!
Your son should have paid for all his courses by himself. that is the trouble with America--we hand things ot the next generation like they are entitled to them instead of making them work for it. everone should have to put himself or herself through college and graduate school. I did it and am successful today. this is why we have this liberal entitlement mentality
My parents helped me through college and we helped our kids through college. All five of them are hard working citizens and none of them is on the public dole. They all worked to help with college expenses. We expected them to buy their own books and earn their own spending money.
I see no problem with that if parents are able to help and I'm happy they didn't have to graduate with the equivalent of a mortgage to repay. As for graduate degrees, the two who have them paid for them themselves.
I'm glad you're successful, but helping our kids didn't give any of them a "liberal entitlement mentality." They are all true conservatives because they recognize that some things are worth conserving - especially the family and moral values.
Why is this being re-published, so to speak, on May 2nd, 2013? This interview with a U of C professor regarding Obama was from back in 2010.
