Illegally Entering a Country Isn't Lawbreaking?

VIRGINIA'S CATHOLIC BISHOPS SAY ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS ARE NOT 'LAWBREAKERS'

You can read the bishops' letter here

Note that the letter touts the tax benefits of the invasion while completely ignoring the devastating financial impact on communities overrun with illegals And if you want to see the impact on one state, look at poor Arizona.  and at the small southern California town of Greenfield.Start prosecuting businesses who want illegals because they are cheap slave labor!

Humpty-Dumpty is famous for his statement in Through the Looking Glass that "When I use a word it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less." Unfortunately for the Catholic Church there are plenty of Humpty-Dumpties pontificating from their chanceries practicing the egghead's "freedom to choose" their own definitions. So words take on entirely new meanings. Illegals invading the country aren't "lawbreakers" but neighbors. Well, they were also neighbors when they lived in their own countries. Why don't the bishops lobby for changes there?

Strangely, the bishops, who have been very loud on protecting the status of illegals, have been completely silent over immigrant home-schooling families trying to escape draconian persecution in their countries of origin or Chinese families persecuted under the one-child/forced abortion policy. I'm all for having a looser immigration policy for the politically persecuted. Let's bring in the Chaldean Christians from Iraq who have almost been eradicated following our "rescue" mission there.

Perhaps I'm a little cynical after following the U.S. bishops for thirty years, but is their big push for immigration reform really more about their own alliance with the Democrat party? They are isolated in their marble towers with flunkies to maintain their princely lifestyles.

As for the two bishops in Virginia, I have a proposal. You both have plenty of room in your bishops' mansions. Please open your doors to welcome the stranger. Be an example to your people by making your spare bedrooms available to those in need.

  1. And here's the estimated cost of illegals to Virginia.

  2. This is an example of the lack of solidarity between the out of touch Bishops and the financially-oppressed laity. Bishops live in high style, have no worry about their children or grandchildren , run organizations that pay no taxes, do not pay or participate in Social Security, are surrounded by lackeys and receive all of their income from the laity. They have tenure and can't be fired. They reign on their "moral highground" in complete complacency irrespctive of the fact that Catholic lapse in faith and attendance is in free fall. With shepherds like these wolves are superfulous.

  3. Here's another crime that is virtually synonymous with illegal immigration: document fraud.

I would encourage you to read "18 USC § 1028 - Fraud and related activity in connection with identification documents, authentication features, and information" (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1028)

The short version is that if you make, sell, possess, or use a forged identity document to defraud the United States, you are guilty of either a felony or a gross misnomeanor (depending upon the specific action).

Another one: 26 USC § 7203 - Willful failure to file return, supply information, or pay tax (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/7203)

As the section title indicates, a person who willfully fails to file a tax return, supply necessary information about their income and tax obligations, or who fails to pay the appropriate income tax is guilty, again, of either a gross misnomeanor or a felony.

Since illegal aliens are not authorized to work in this country, either one of four situations MUST happen:

    1) They work for cash under the table (which would be a violation of the Title 26 law cited above)

    2) Their employers are creating tax identification information to cover them and not bothering to tell the alien about it

    3) They are using fraudulent documents to create an identity who is allowed to work in the country

    4) They are using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) in lieu of a Social Security Number for tax purposes.

In regards to #4 (which is often cited by pro-illegal people), there were approximately 1.8 million individual returns filed in 2008 using ITINs versus a SSAN. That number INCLUDES those non-resident aliens who have earned income legally in this country...since most estimates have the illegal alien population exceeding 15 million, how many of them could possibly be using ITINs??

So, I guess, in the eyes of the USCCB and the Virginia Catholic Conference (as well as the Marxist Maryland Catholic Conference), document fraud and tax evasion are crimes that don't corrupt an individual's character...I wonder if other crimes, such as drug smuggling, human trafficking, rape, robbery, carjacking, burglary, or murder impact their character either?

Might be a good subject for a future post, Mary Ann...

  4. I absolutely despise our benighted bishops who can't understand the concept of illegal immigration is a crime. Their idiocy inflames the the Non-Catholics against us.
