Why Don't We See This Headline in Our Diocesan Papers?

Head of Congregation for Divine Worship Says Entire Church Should Kneel for Communion

Not only that, they should receive Communion on the tongue. Maybe if we saw these kinds of articles in the diocesan papers we wouldn't have Pharisee priests denying Communion to people who kneel.

  1. I thought this would be of interest to readers who have family and friends who are Eastern-rite Catholic or simply curious. The link below is from a website maintained by a Byzantine-rite Catholic: www.east2west.org/Liturgy&Sacrament.htm
I should mention I have an interest in Eastern-rite Catholicism and reading about it.

  2. What an interesting website, Elisa. I very much appreciated learning more about our Eastern brothers and sisters and the way they practice.

  3. I am in almost total disagreement with almost everything you write, but I most certainly agree with you here. I wish we could all return to receiving on the tongue while kneeling. That is the least we owe to Our Savior.

  4. Holy Communion while kneeling is a good start.

We also need to return to:

+ Latin (at least in phasing steps).

    + Altar Rails.

+ Male only altar servers (in cassocks and surplices).

+ Perpetual Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at *every* parish. Corpus Christi processions, too.

+ Complete silence before/after Holy Mass.

How's that for a start, Mary Ann?

  5. This piece at Fr. Z's says it perfectly:

  6. I'm with all your suggestions, Kevin. In fact, with regard to the Mass, that was what Vatican II envisioned -- not all the nonsense.

And Fr. Z is always worth reading!

Let's pray for more silence and more reverence in the new year!
