Political Correctness Even Infects the Marines. God Help Us!

Young man with this tattoo is rejected by Marine recruiter for racial hatred. What nonsense!

  1. Why on earth would anyone have pride in that flag? It's not about heritage unless you want to honor a heritage of an economic system that enslaved a race of people and then further imposed "legal" segregation and humiliation for another 100 years. If that's your kind of heritage, then I don't think you should serve in the US Armed Forces. Personal beliefs aside, the US Marine Corp has guidelines for body art and that tattoo violates at least two of them.

  2. Slavery was evil -- absolutely. And it was practiced in places in the north as well as indentured servitude and the exploitation of immigrants in many industries like the canning industry in Chicago and exploitation of the Irish in Boston.

Most people in the south did not own slaves. Many never even saw a slave. In my own area of Virginia, the Shenandoah Valley there were few slaves. It was a family farming and milling area. How many boys from small farms in the south would have fought to keep rich plantation owners in slaves? This is just one more example of history being distorted by the winners.

There were a lot of issues in the war and demonizing the Confederate flag is a re-writing of history and one more meaningless feel-good act used by liberals to keep their supporters on the modern political plantation. I'm sick of distorting history to portray a president who had no problem with slavery and wanted to deport all blacks back to Africa as the "Great Emancipator." Lincoln didn't free a single slave and he's on record saying that blacks were not equal to whites. Southerners weren't demons and northerners weren't angels. And Lincoln wouldn't have fought the war over slavery. In fact, that's what he said. He fought it to keep the union intact even if it cost hundreds of thousands of lives in the process.

I have no problem with those who want to fly the Confederate flag, not as a symbol promoting slavery, but states rights against a federal system that has institutionalized, not the slavery of blacks, but their genocide through abortion.
