The Twelve Days of Christmas: How are you celebrating?

This is a time for family celebration and in the spirit of the season we brought home eight of our grandchildren last night for a two-day "cousins camp." Four more grandchildren are coming to join the fun today.
We'll be going to the potato chip factory (Rte. 11 chips) after a stop to light candles and say a decade of the rosary for Brendan. We'll visit the Shenandoah Caverns Yellow Barn with its bee "door" where you can watch their live hive behind plexiglass. We'll go across the street to admire the floats at American Celebration on Parade. Then we'll come home and play games and have an indoor picnic. The kids enjoy making hotdogs and s'mores in the fireplace and they will each have their favorite chip flavor from the factory.

On Thursday we'll have a surprise birthday party for our rising teen and tween (Shhhh...) with a big breakfast and then decorate graham cracker houses. We'll finish up with dinner for 20 at a Mexican restaurant in Front Royal that has a salsa bar and the best Tex-Mex around. Needless to say, the blog will be pretty quiet for the next two days unless my blogging partners, Chriss and Susan, post (hint, hint!).

I hope you are having as much fun with your family as we are. It's what this season of joy is all about.  My husband and I never feel more blessed than when we are with our grandchildren.

Our wish for our own family and for yours is -- "God bless us every one!" And don't forget that Christmas festivities have only just begun!

  1. What a great idea and beautiful family experience - a two day cousin's camp! Memories...and also stopping by the church to light candles and pray a decade of the rosary for Brendan.

The Kritzers are truly a saintly Catholic family of the 21st century.

  2. Susan, thanks for the compliment but you know me too well to put me and saintly in the same sentence. LOL! I hope I'm working on it with the help of God's grace.

  3. What fun! I have only four of my ten nearby, but I am enjoying it immensely! I think I will join the other six for Easter.
