I'm Praying for Cokie Roberts Today...

Not because I liked the woman, but because I hope she doesn't go to hell. The worldly habit of eulogizing into secular sainthood every person who dies is a disservice to them. At the moment of death every one of us will stand before the Judge who will say one of two things:
"Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into my joy.
Or...
"I never knew you. Depart from me."
What did Cokie hear? I don't know. I hope she heard the first. But when one considers what Jesus said about millstones waiting for those who scandalized the little ones...well...there is reason to fear...which makes it imperative to pray!

Cokie not only scandalized several generations of "little ones," but she advocated the littlest ones being ripped limb from limb or being dragged into the birth canal, stabbed in the neck with a scissors, and having their brains sucked out. Hard to imagine the Lord saying, "Well done!" to that one!

Oh no, some will say. She wasn't pro-abortion; she was "pro-choice." Okay, have it your way. She was just willing to "tolerate" others ripping babies limb from limb and sucking out their brains. But she wrung her hands and waxed eloquent for little ones who were "caged" at the border. No wiggle room there - no argument for pro-choice policies.

Well...actually...to be honest...I don't think she made a peep of protest when Obama did it. It was only when it happened on Trump's watch that her outrage hormones kicked in. I don't know what you call that... selective political outrage perhaps? Hey...any stick to whack Trump!

Did Cokie ever protest Obama's cages?
In a 2009 editorial, pro-life icon Judie Brown joined her voice to the Cardinal Newman Society's protest of Pennsylvania's Cabrini University giving Roberts an award. Here's a bit of what Judie wrote:
Today...at a Philadelphia-area Catholic college, Cabrini by name, the annual Ivy Young Willis Award for Contributions to Public Affairs, will be bestowed on pro-abortion commentator Cokie Roberts.
In an effort to put the brakes on this award and hopefully stop it, the Cardinal Newman Society has issued a call to arms, pointing out to its activists nationwide, Cokie Roberts, a Roman Catholic, is a political commentator for ABC News and a senior news analyst for National Public Radio.
In her syndicated column with husband Steve Roberts, she has espoused abortion rights and ridiculed pro-lifers as "extremists." The Robertses characterized the federal ban on partial-birth abortion as "off the track" and "cynical game-playing" by pro-life activists.
In an April 2007 segment for ABC News, she said that she found the Supreme Court decision upholding this ban on partial-birth abortion "offensive as a woman."
Oh...and did I mention Cokie championed same sex marriage and the sodomite community considered her a great ally? So that's two sins she championed that cry to heaven for vengeance. Pray harder!

President Trump is getting a lot of flack for not jumping on the praise-Cokie bandwagon. Here's what he's reported as saying by CNN (If it's not fake news.):
"I never met her. She never treated me nicely. But I would like to wish her family well. She was a professional, and I respect professionals," Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to California. "I respect you guys a lot, you people a lot. She was a real professional. Never treated me well, but I certainly respect her as a professional."
Really.... I think that was pretty mild considering her systematic, bludgeoning reporting of Trump's presidency.

Heck! I can't blame the man. If you look at the archives of Cokie and hubbie Steve's columns, they were obsessed with attacking Trump. Wow! If somebody spent the last few years of her career in an on-going war on me with her verbal AK 47, I think I might be tempted to say the same thing Trump did. Although I don't think I'd use the word "professional" for her hit jobs.

In a September column, written shortly before her death, with the ironic title Truth-Tellers are Heroes, Cokie and Steve accused Trump of waging a “ferocious war on any facts or findings that contradict his warped view of the world.” That made me laugh because isn't that exactly what liberals like Cokie do? But now that she's dead, Trump is supposed to weep a bunch of crocodile tears with the liberal media sycophants.

I admit he doesn't have an ounce of political correctness in his body and tact isn't his strong point. Be that as it may, he is more honest than most of his critics, especially those in the mainstream media -- like Cokie. As for "truth-tellers," was Cokie one? Or did she spin the news to match her views?

Trump isn't the only one getting blasted for telling the truth about Cokie. Michelle Malkin pointed out in a panel discussion on fake news yesterday that Cokie was one of the first fake news reporters on the block. You can watch her description of Cokie pretending to be reporting live from Bill Clinton's state of the union address in 1994. Cokie appeared against a backdrop of the Capitol when she was actually at a speaking engagement miles away. Yup, liberals never tire of playing "Let's pretend." ABC had to eat crow for that one.

And now I'm pausing to say a prayer that Cokie Roberts repented before she died. Lots of people are saying she was a kind person. Well, that wouldn't surprise me. People love their children and grandchildren and their friends. Remember what Jesus said in the gospel of Luke:
"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, how can you claim any credit? Sinners do as much. If you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what merit is there in it for you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full."
I've met plenty of charming liberals who are fun to be around as long as you don't discuss anything that involves a truth based on natural law. They don't believe in "rock truth" (as in "build your house on rock"), only what I call "jello truth" (sweet and squishy). That's a problem when one stands before TRUTH HIMSELF.

Cokie Roberts did an incredible amount of damage. And her guilt is even worse because she was a Catholic. She was several years older than I am and attended Catholic schools when they were still using the Baltimore Catechism so, presumably, she was taught doctrinal truth. That's scary. Her mother, Lindy Boggs was a Congresswoman and later Ambassador to the Vatican. She was a reliable pro-life vote and  always supported the Hyde Amendment. There's no reason to believe Cokie didn't get the truth at home from Mom. The Bible says that much is expected from those to whom much is given. I hope you'll join me in praying for Cokie today.

May God have mercy on her soul.

  2. Gee I said the same about praying for Rosica on another blog and was accused of "virtue signaling "by another alleged 'catholic" blogger who apparently missed Jesus' instruction about praying for your enemies.

  3. She received Communion, as a public pro-abort, at Little Flower Church in Bethesda, year after year, decade after decade. Msgr. John Enzler, pastor, among others. Under Archbishops Hickey, McCarrick, Wuerl, Gregory.
