The Coronavirus Toll Nobody's Talking About

See Dr. Phil interview at the end.
Did you know that 98% of coronavirus sufferers get well?

Let me repeat that. 98% of those contracting the virus do NOT die.

You can be excused for not knowing that in view of the fact that the media and the "experts" beat the doom drums daily to justify their continued draconian approach including some who now say the country must be shut down for 18 months (or until a vaccine is developed) and things will never go back to normal!

What's being overlooked by these "experts" is the damage, not from the virus, but from their recommendations in handling it. The deaths that won't be counted, caused by the response to the virus, remain to be seen. Here are some of the unintended consequences, however, that are already popping up on the radar screen.
  • The increase in mental health problems:
A new report by the Kaiser Family Foundation finds that the mental health burden is increasing for just about everyone. In a mid-March poll, 32% of people polled said that worry and stress about coronavirus had a negative impact on their mental health. Two weeks later in late March, this number had risen to 45%. And women appear to be suffering more than men. From the most recent KFF poll, women were 16% more likely to say that coronavirus-related worry or stress had had a negative impact on their mental health, compared to men (53% vs. 37%). Compare this to polls two weeks earlier, where the gender gap was just 9% (36% vs. 27%). For the parents of kids under 18, the numbers are even more dramatic. At the end of March, 57% of mothers vs. 32% of fathers said their mental health has gotten worse because of the pandemic. Two weeks earlier, there had been just a 5% difference between the genders (36% vs. 31%), suggesting that mothers may be bearing a disproportionately large part of the burden as time goes on.
  • Suicide hotlines are seeing a massive uptick: Los Angeles is one place that witnessed an increase in suicide crisis hotline calls according to DailyMail.com. Didi Hirsch’s Suicide Crisis Line has received more than 1,500 calls about the coronavirus in March, which is 75 times more than the previous month. Didi Hirsch operates one of the largest suicide line call centers in the United States and they warned that the number of calls would grow exponentially over the next couple of weeks as people confront the realities of lost loved ones and lost jobs.
  • PTSD and eating disorders are increasingOn February 26, the Lancet published a review by Samantha Brooks and colleagues from King’s College in London of 24 studies on the psychological impact of quarantine. Most studies reported negative psychological effects including post-traumatic stress symptoms, confusion, and anger. Stressors included longer quarantine duration, infection fears, frustration, boredom, inadequate supplies, inadequate information, financial loss, and stigma. Children and adolescents seem particularly at risk of post-traumatic stress disorder, according to the review.... eating disorders have a high risk of relapsing or worsening the severity of their disorder, due to infection fears and the effect of the quarantine, and for the shortage of adequate psychological and psychiatric treatments due to the pandemic.
Isn't it time to recognize that the "cure" may be worse than the disease?
