On the Day after Rejoicing, the Church Celebrates the First Martyr!

The joy of Christmas transitions to grief today over the death of the first martyr, the holy deacon St. Stephen. What wisdom! Holy Mother Church reminds us that we are in the Church Militant, not at the church picnic despite our Christmas day joy. Remember, at the birth of the holy babe, Herod sits on the throne and will soon see the news of a "newborn king" (brought unwittingly by the three wise men to this diabolical ruler) as a threat to his own rule. And so he plots believing that, in his worldly power, he can thwart the will of God. Stupid man!

History repeats itself.

With the anticipated horror of a Biden/Harris socialist tyranny and the possibility that all three branches of government will be held hostage to the murderous butchery of abortion on steroids, it's wise for Christians to prepare spiritually for increased persecution. Get ready for hate speech legislation, more assaults on the innocence of children, more persecution of religious schools and churches, expanded support for Planned Parenthood's barbaric killing, more exporting of evil to the third world, etc. Some demons, Jesus said, can only be driven out by prayer and fasting.

If you think it can't happen here, you need to read the history of the French Revolution and the massacres in the Vendee, the terrorism in England under Queen Elizabeth and her henchmen, the rising of the Third Reich in Germany, the Bolshevik Revolution, the Rwandan genocide, etc. America is not immune, and we've seen it all too often before. The wicked plot to rule the world. Their "Utopia" always rises with the mailed fist, the iron-studded jackboot, the guns and tanks, the blitzkrieg, and the reeducation camps.

As the Bible says, "When just men increase, the people shall rejoice: when the wicked shall bear rule, the people shall mourn." Proverbs 29:2

Let's not waste this season of joy when we welcome the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. How can we help to bring about the reign of Christ on earth? There is only one way. Let us all strive to be saints. Today I'm asking St. Stephen and my guardian angel to show me the way.
