The Russian Orthodox Perception of the Fatima Message

"The Reigning Icon" of the Mother of God
(see below)

1) I like to look at things from "the other side" every once in awhile.
2) This is merely an article from one Russian Orthodox Priest Outside Russia (ROCOR)
3) I assume that the Orthodox look at the Roman Catholic Church today the same way they currently look at the Collective West.
4) I thought this perspective interesting and agreed with statements highlighted in yellow.
5) I'm sick of being lied to. Perhaps the Orthodox interpretation of Fatima is closer to the truth than the lies we're told to believe.

The True Message of Fatima?

Introduction

In six visions over a period of six months in 1917 three peasant children from a Portuguese village were told by the Mother of God of the destiny of a country called Russia. These shepherd children, who had never been to Lisbon, let alone heard of Russia, came to hear of this at the most important turning-point in the history of that country. Coincidence?

Each of these six visions took place on the last day of each month between April and September according to the Orthodox Church calendar (that is, on the 13th of the next month according to the secular calendar). Coincidence?

During the last vision, a crowd of 70,000 people saw the miracle of the sun ‘dancing’. Mass hallucination? Not only devout peasants saw it, but also convinced freemasons and Communists, as well as many who were not in the crowd, but in several other places, miles away.

The Deformation of the Message of Fatima

Institutional Roman Catholicism, deliberately deforming and misinterpreting these events for political aims, used to claim that the Mother of God had told the children that ‘if Russia remained Communist and did not become Catholic by being consecrated to the ‘Immaculate Heart’ of the Mother of God by the Pope of Rome and all his bishops, it would spread ‘its’ (sic) errors all over the world’.

There was also said to be a secret message, ‘The Third Secret’, given by the Mother of God, but which was to be revealed only in 1960. This was not done and it is considered by many devout Roman Catholics that the message has still not been revealed, despite an announcement on 26 June 2000 (1). The message, they say, has been hushed up because it will suicidally compromise institutional Roman Catholicism.

Cardinal Luigi Ciappi (+ 1996), personal theologian to five popes, is quoted as stating that, ‘In the Third Secret it is foretold, among other things, that the great apostasy in the Church will begin at the top’ (2). Meanwhile, after the announcement that a Second Vatican Council was to take place, from 1960 onwards the only one of the three Portuguese peasant children who had lived into adulthood, Sister Lucia, was enclosed in a convent and not allowed to speak to anyone without episcopal authorisation or that of the Vatican, dying only in 2005.

That the original Roman Catholic interpretation of the message of the Mother of God (and this appears to have been renounced by Roman Catholic officials over the last fifty years or so, including by the present Pope (3)) is false, is clear to Orthodox. And that the Pope and his bishops have never consecrated Russia to the Immaculate Heart of the Mother of God is also a fact, suggesting that Roman Catholic officials themselves never believed in their own former interpretation.

The fact is that the original interpretation is inconsistent. There are no fewer than five inconsistencies, which we will describe in the next section.

Towards the True Message

First of all, how could Russia renounce ‘its’ error of Communism? The Russian Revolution had not been about Communism, but about a takeover of Orthodox Christian Russia which had been carefully prepared and heavily backed by pro-Western freemasons, aided and abetted by Germany and financed and encouraged by Britain, France, the USA and the Vatican itself? Moreover, Communism was not at all a Russian error, but a Western error, introduced into Russia by a coup d'état in October 1917, according to the Church calendar, weeks after the last vision in Portugal had taken place. Communism was a purely Western error, simply taking typical Western materialism to its logical extreme.

Secondly, why did the Mother of God require Russia to be consecrated to Her by Roman Catholic bishops? For centuries Russia had been known as ‘The House of the Mother of God’ and She had already taken charge of Russia, before any of these visions, through the miraculous appearance of Her Reigning Icon, on the day of the forged ‘abdication’ of the Lord’s Anointed, the betrayed Tsar Nicholas II.

Thirdly, how could Russia possibly become Roman Catholic, when Russia had never been this and when its greatest enemy throughout its history had been precisely Roman Catholicism? Indeed, after the Communist takeover, it was Roman Catholicism, under its agents Pacelli (the future Pope Pius XII) in 1924 and then D’Herbigny, which conspired together with Communism against anti-Communist Russian Orthodoxy.

Fourthly, how could any of these interpretations be true when Communism did finally collapse in Russia? This was even though it had never been consecrated to ‘the Immaculate Heart of the Mother of God’ by the Pope of Rome and all his bishops. Today Russia is free of the Communist system and the Russian Orthodox Church is working on converting the masses from nominal to practicing Orthodoxy and has already baptized 100 million people and has built or restored 25,000 Orthodox churches.

Finally, how can there be truth in the deformed Roman Catholic interpretation of Fatima that Roman Catholicism is triumphant and Orthodoxy finished? Today, Orthodoxy is resurgent in Russia and Roman Catholicism is everywhere in a state of spiritual decadence and apostasy and many of its few remaining clergy are viewed as perverts.

Conclusion: Orthodox Fatima

Communism is spiritual impurity, a form of materialist idolatry which developed out of materialist Protestantism, the foundation of materialist Capitalism, with its anti-collective individualism and narcissistic consumerism. This in turn developed out of materialist Roman Catholicism, the concept that the material world must be under the total control of the popes of Rome. So, spiritual impurity breeds spiritual impurity.

Only this can explain why, when in 1991 the Communist Soviet Union collapsed under the weight of resurgent Orthodoxy, which it had so cruelly persecuted, the demons at once exited the fallen atheist Soviet Union and comfortably settled in their legions in the newly atheist European Union, a product of Roman Catholicism. Thus, the Soviet red star became the ring of twelve yellow stars of the European Union. ‘One Ring to bind them all’, indeed.

We do not doubt that something extraordinary happened at Fatima in 1917. If the Mother of God appeared to three peasant children and spoke to them of Russia, perhaps she told them this message: ‘If the West does not stop spreading its evils around the world, including to My House, Orthodox Russia, where ‘the bishop dressed in white’, the holy father Patriarch Tikhon, will suffer with millions of others, then those errors will completely take over the West. If the West does not wish to be punished, it must repent, consecrating itself to the Mother of God, as Russia has done, and so return to the Orthodox Faith after its near-millennial apostasy to materialism’.

Notes:

1. The Third Secret, as disclosed in 2000:

I write in obedience to you, my God, who commands me to do so through his Excellency the Bishop of Leiria and through your Most Holy Mother and mine. After the two parts which I have already explained, at the left of Our Lady and a little above, we saw an angel with a flaming sword in his left hand; flashing, it gave out flames that looked as though they would set the world on fire; but they died out in contact with the splendour that Our Lady radiated towards him from her right hand: pointing to the earth with his right hand, the angel cried out in a loud voice: PENANCE PENANCE PENANCE. And we saw in an immense light that is God: 'something similar to how people appear in a mirror when they pass in front of it' a bishop dressed in white 'we had the impression that it was the Holy Father.'

Other bishops, priests, men and women religious going up a steep mountain, at the top of which there was a big cross of rough-hewn trunks as of a cork-tree with the bark; before reaching there the Holy Father passed through a big city half in ruins and half trembling with halting step, afflicted with pain and sorrow, he prayed for the souls of the corpses he met on this way; having reached the top of the mountain, on his knees at the foot of the big cross he was killed by a group of soldiers who fired bullets and arrows at him, and in the same way there died one after another the other bishops, priests, men and women religious and various lay people of different ranks and positions. Beneath the two arms of the cross there were two angels each with a crystal vessel for holy water in his hand, in which they gathered up the blood of the martyrs and with it sprinkled the souls that were making their way to God.

3. ‘Although the Church recognises the Fatima apparitions, She does not pledge Herself to guarantee the veracity of the words which the three shepherds claim to have heard from Our Lady’. Vatican Communiqué through the A.N.I. agency on 8 February1960). See also the then Cardinal Ratzinger’s interview in ‘Jesus’ magazine, published on 11 November 1984, which also debunked the traditional interpretation of Fatima.

  2. Well now that we see the depth of corruption and depravity of our church hierarchy, we should question Fatima's "interpretation", because the one we were given never made sense, in retrospect. It seems very likely that Our Lady was trying to tell us OUR hierarchy was going to be the source of apostasy, and naturally they would lie and cover this up, or, the gig was up right then and they would be under too much scrutiny to do what they wanted to do. How could they continue with their "renewal" when all eyes would now be on them, questioning everything as leading to apostasy? Looking at it today, with Russia one of the very last countries to still keep the faith, how can it be said her errors contaminated the world while SHE returns to it? How could Our Lady be so wrong. She wasn't wrong. We know Russia plays an important part, or Our Lady would not have mentioned her, but does it seem likely she mentioned Russia just because communism originated there. I do not know enough world history to know if the statement here is true on where it originated, but looking from 2022, with the Roman Catholic Church in almost total degradation and self-inflicted collapse, Fatima's message should be questioned, and a cover-up reasonably assumed.

  3. I have to agree that this certainly makes more sense. And we know the rotten RC hierarchy lies constantly.

  4. Given the origin of the source, I would take this with a grain of salt. The Orthodox do not take very kindly towards Catholicism and its hierarchy.

  5. Yes, Irenaeus, I too take it not so seriously. Orthodoxy’s massive chip on its shoulder and malevolence toward the Catholic Church is quite disturbing. Yet, I do remain open to what this priest says.

  6. It doesn’t make sense for the Fatima messages to warn of Russia remaining Communist, if they occurred *before* the October revolution. That is a new fact (to me) which puts the whole thing in another light, and suggests that the message was garbled somewhere.

  7. The Russian Revolution and "the errors of Russia (atheistic Communism) didn't happen in one day in October 1917. It had been going on for years with the left's trying for "regime change" (sound familiar?) in getting rid of the monarchy and the tsar. When the Communists overthrew the government they viciously murdered the royal family in July of 1918, killed members of the upper class, killed merchants, teachers, professors etc, killed priests, burned churches, introduced atheism into Russia which had always been "the land of the Mother of God", and tortured and killed the Russian people in the most vicious and cruel ways. It was a total sweep of Christian Russia by the Soviets and the Russian people suffered terribly for 70 years under Communism. Russia is no longer Communist but an Orthodox Christian country.
