Sunday Meditation: "Wickedness in the High Places"

I came across the phrase "wickedness in the high places" this morning while I was reading the meditation for the day in Benedictus. We're certainly seeing plenty of that these days. Earlier this week I blogged about the queer Mass in Germany aired on the diocesan website. The "presider" priest may not occupy a high place in the diocese, but his bishop does. And that Mass was, indeed, wicked and scandalous.

Germany is pretty much in total apostasy. Chris Jackson at Hiraeth in Exile published a substack article about "The Church of the Absurd" today. Talk about absolute insanity! Not only the queer Mass, but queer rainbow classrooms. Here's what Jackson wrote about brainwashing children to accept sodomy:

The German Bishops’ Conference has released its latest manifesto, “Created, Redeemed, and Loved,” calling for the open celebration of “sexual diversity” in Catholic schools. They instruct teachers to “represent queer identities visibly,” and to let students “feel affirmed in the search for their sexual orientation and gender identity.”
Are these bishops serious? What don't they understand about the Scriptural truth that "male and female He created them." Those are the only two identities, sons of Adam and daughters of Eve, as Aslan would say. Do you need any more proof about "wickedness in the high places."

Sad to say, the highest Catholic place under God, the papacy, seems to be the realm of Judas who sold our Savior for thirty pieces of silver. How much is today's sellout going for? And how much of it is for the ashes of human respect?

Francis was a continuous source of confusion and scandal. Pope Leo continues his legacy and may be even worse. Error thrives more successfully dressed even minimally in orthodoxy and taught with charm and a smile. Leo added to the confusion big time with his statement that "No one possesses the whole truth." in his homily at the Jubilee Mass of the Synodal Teams and Participatory Bodies on October 26th. Consider the fallout from all the previous scandalous synods in reducing the authority of the magisterium and creating confusion. They all added to the advance of modernism and relativism. Are we a church now that's run by committees where the truth has to be voted on by a combination of clerics and lay people? Leo apparently thinks so. Here's one of his statements from the homily:
“Being a synodal Church means recognizing that truth is not possessed, but sought together, allowing ourselves to be guided by a restless heart in love with Love.”

Wow! Doesn't that sound lovely. Let's vote on whether the Church can approve same sex marriage and contraception. He also said this in the homily:

The supreme rule in the Church is love. No one is called to dominate; all are called to serve. [Absolutely true!] No one should impose his or her own ideas [Also true, but we are called to affirm God's truth which is not "our own ideas." Dogma is not relative, but absolute!]; we must all listen to one another. No one is excluded [Not true! How about satanists? Shall we give them a forum so we can listen to them? St. John told his followers to flee from heretics!]; we are all called to participate. No one possesses the whole truth; we must all humbly seek it and seek it together. [This is false. Anyone who teaches God's truth [dogma], the "whole truth" which is not hidden from us, has already found the truth and is called to share it with others.]

Read the homily and see for yourself what the pope said to the synodal assembly. It illustrates more confusion.

One of the cleverest deceits of Satan is to mix a small amount of poisonous error with a large helping of truth. We've seen that in many of the conciliar popes. Sinful errors were introduced into the Church and created massive confusion. One can sin by ignorance or by malice. I will not accuse any of the popes of malice because I can't read their minds and hearts. Did they think they were being kind and pastoral and loving? Whatever their motivation, these popes gave us many examples of "wickedness in the high places." Their actions call serious Catholics to follow the advice of St. Thomas Aquinas who said in the Summa's question on fraternal correction:

It must be observed, however, that if the faith were endangered, a subject ought to rebuke his prelate even publicly. Hence Paul, who was Peter's subject, rebuked him in public, on account of the imminent danger of scandal concerning faith, and, as the gloss of Augustine says on Galatians 2:11, "Peter gave an example to superiors, that if at any time they should happen to stray from the straight path, they should not disdain to be reproved by their subjects."

There is no doubt that the faith is endangered today on many fronts. Our children are particularly vulnerable. The tragedy remains that the greatest danger is coming from within the Church, especially from those who occupy "the high places." Our response must be one of charity -- prayer and sacrifice for those advancing evil under the guise of love. But we need to confront it publicly!

Think of the good our modern Judases could accomplish if they embraced the true faith and loved all their spiritual children. Too many Catholics today are in dioceses run by abusive fathers who have no love for them. Pray the rosary for them that they may turn away from error and cease scandalizing the flock so that we may all meet merrily in heaven.

May Jesus Christ be praised!

  1. I call a bit of a correction your agreement to Leo’s statements “ The supreme rule in the Church is love. No one is called to dominate; all are called to serve.” You are correctly in agreement to the latter part of the statement, but Leo is wrong that Love is the supreme rule, instead love folllows the supreme rule of the Word, aka logos, logic, reason is Christ and that is first. When aligned fully then love follows.

I submit Ann Barnhardts post on this subject.

This is an interesting tell about the misguided Social Justice movement in Catholicism (read Malachi Martins - The Jesuits). They think abandoning judgement is love. They place the cart before the horse and cannot see logos - Gods truth, Christ himself, This is why they can imagine they are embracing Gos when they are rejecting him at times. Their love is hollow as they foxus on worldly about things and not the Soul.

    1. This would be a really interesting discussion/debate. Love and Logos. Perhaps it's like Justice and Mercy. They are like a two-sided coin. You can't have one without the other. Those who ask people whether they'd rather have God's justice or His mercy are asking an impossible question. They go together. Even hell is God's mercy for the damned souls who choose it. Aren't love and logos also connected to the point of not being able to separate them? The Baltimore puts them together in the answer to "Why did make us?" To KNOW HIM, To LOVE Him, and to Serve Him. So perhaps these three are like the legs that hold a stool up, you can't have one without the others to be complete. Anyway, thank you for the thought-provoking comment.

    2. I agree with all you write. I think what I was pulling out, not explaining well, is the “love” they identify with at times is not love at all. The easiest example to see is two homosexual men claiming love for each other while they reject Gods law. They indeed feel closeness to each other, but it cannot be love as their actions separate themselves from God. Another similar example is the love the post VII prelates have with man and are campaigning better material existence without a spiritual repentance. Chris Jackson’s Substack posts demonstrate Bergoglio’s and Prevosts teachings are hollow with spiritual atonement while they claim love throughout.
This is what the modernist and many liberals miss in their lives, which is knowledge of true love, agape.

    3. Love is one of the most misused words in the dictionary. People "love" pizza and the Super Bowl. Fornication is called love. Swapping marriage partners is "free love." You're absolutely right and thank you so much for being one of my thoughtful and thought-provoking readers!

  2. Thanks be to God for persons like you and a few others who give voice to those of us who cannot do it.... It seems that every day all that we hear or read coming from the high authorities of the Church is horrible.,,...I just think of children and young people who have no one to let them see the light....... Is this a punishment from God? May He greatly bless you for your commitment of spreading light in the awful darkness that surround us.
