Mary, Co-Redemptrix and Mediatrix of All Graces, is the Scourge of the Demons and Destroyer of all heresies. She is our twelve-star general and God has given her immense power against evil.
Why do you think that is?
Simple! Because of her great humility. What better weapon to use against the icon of pride, the "light-bearer" Lucifer, than the woman clothed with the sun, the icon of humility and purity who crushes the serpents head beneath her foot. What a blow to the devil's pride and how much he hates her and those who love her!
On this Feast of the Immaculate Conception, let us turn to Mary with all our troubles and challenges. God has given into her hands immense power over evil. She never claims that power for herself, but takes us straight to her Son.It was God who wanted the world to turn to Mary. He tol Lucia to spread the First Saturday devotions. He told St. Margaret Mary to have the Miraculous Medal with its prayer: "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee."
Just as God sent His Son in the womb of a humble virgin, He wants us to imitate that humility and come to Him through the intercession of the Blessed Mother, Queen of Heaven and Earth.
In C.S. Lewis's final Narnia tale, The Last Battle, the entrance to paradise is through the stable, the first home of the Holy Family. We are called to gather around the Holy Family, because they are the gateway of eternal life. Our Lady described said the last battle would be over the family. Not surprising. The family is a microcosm of Church. And so our journey begins in the heart of the Holy Family at the manger and ends at the cross and the victory of the resurrection.
Embrace Mary and her messages if you seek a shortcut to heaven. She not only has the map, but she is the true guide who takes the hands of her children and leads us directly to the goal. We have to walk through the Valley of Tears, but with Mary, we need not fear.
O Mary, Scourge of Demons and Destroyer of all heresies, pray for us.
