The dirty little secret about the Health Care law is that it is only an outline of what is to come. That is why Nancy Pelosi said, “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of controversy.”
I have been to seminars (given by Health Insurance Companies) on the Health Care bill where I was told that 2,074 page bill will actually be over 10,000 pages by the time it is implemented. This is because throughout the bill, it gives the Human and Health Services Secretary authority to write large parts of the bill.
Rich Lowry wrote a great article this week about Kathleen Sebelius's death panels addition to the bill. In it he points out the 700 references in ObamaCare to the secretary "shall," 200 to the secretary "may" and 139 to the secretary "determines."
We have just given over to this administration incredible authority in determining how we will receive health care in this country. This also is why the CBO grossly underestimated the cost because there was no way to determine the costs to this bill with that much to be determined by this Administrations Health and Human Services department.
In other words, Blumenauer was taken to the woodshed, as it were.
