Don't You Love the Double Standard?

Michelle Obama Sits Down with David Letterman

The hate-hype hogs never tire of accusing the right of hate, while they, of course, are all sweetness and light. Don't you love it, you terrible right-wing nasties? The left goes into foaming-at-the-mouth self-righteous fulminations against Rush Limbaugh while going completely mum about the excesses of their own soft and cuddly hate-mongers like Bill Maher and David Letterman. Frankly, I've never seen so much of the X-rated alphabet: the b-word, the c-word, the f-word, etc. as I have from the liberal left. Funny, but I can't get over the sneaking suspicion that the left are a bunch of hypocrites beginning with the First Hypocrites living in the White House.

  1. Yes, I have been noticing the same thing for years. In fact, after the whole flap about Don Imus' disparaging comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team, I put together a little collection of leftisms and concluded that perhaps the real problem with what Imus said was that it wasn't virulent enough.

  2. There is definitely bias in the media and it's all one way. I have seen how people with a Christian viewpoint have been treated with general disrespect and arrogance, being called intolerant and narrow-minded and much worse for stating their traditional values. Like Anita, I also did my own research and came up with the following:
    Carrie Prejean being called the "B" word by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton;
    Bill Maher using blasphemy on Christmas Eve when he tweeted about Tim Tebow;
    Kirk Cameron being torn apart in the liberal media for his Christian views, just to name a few.

  3. Perhaps there is a bias because your "values" marginalize anyone who does not believe as you do? Just because something is traditional doesn't make it right.

  4. So let's clarify, Chris. Perez Hilton's "values" didn't marginalize Carrie Prejean? David Letterman's "values" weren't despicable when he talked about Willow Palin getting "knocked up?" Bill Maher's "values" don't marginalize anyone who doesn't "believe as [he does]?"

    Just because something is NOT traditional doesn't make it right! I'll take the tradition that respects the true, the good, and the beautiful any day over liberal traditions that believe nothing is true, evil is good, and beautiful is a crucifix in a vat of urine.
