Cardinal Pell on the Rebellion by the Synod Fathers against the Original Ratio

Note his description of the original Relatio. It was "tendentious, skewed, didn't reflect accurately the feelings of the Synod Fathers...We're not giving in to the secular agenda....We have no intention of following those radical elements."

What a great testimony! Pray for the Synod Fathers, especially those who stand faithfully and solidly on Scripture and the Apostolic Tradition refusing to let the world's agenda reform Church doctrine.

  1. Sadly so out of touch with modern society. The bible was written thousands of years ago as a mantra for men to impose and women to follow. The Catholic Church is not something I would ever contemplate - any more than embracing Islam. I dislike being told what I can or cannot do 'according to the Bible'. I live by my own moral standards which are very high.

  2. I think one of the most ethical individuals in history was Socrates -- obviously not a Catholic. But even he recognized a power greater than himself. Are the ten commandments really out of touch with modern society? It seems to me we would all be much happier if all men and women didn't murder, steal, slander others, etc. And it's hard to find a better general rule than "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

I love being a Catholic and feel blessed to have been born into a family where the faith was nurtured. I often pray in thanksgiving for my ancestors who passed on the faith.

I'd be curious to hear more about your moral standards, though, and how you came to adopt them? We can all learn from one another.

  3. Poor Pell. He really has no idea. He is being used as a pawn in the Pope's agenda to radically transform the Catholic Church. By the time he and the other like-minded Cardinals wake up, it will all be too late. The Synod is classic leftwing/marxist radical strategy for change - 'oh dont worry everyone, we are just having a conversation, a 'dialogue'. However, as soon as you decide to debate an 'issue', you make that issue 'debateable' and once that happens, the traditionalists have lost, they just don't know it yet.

  4. There is something in this. Francis has clearly been influenced by Liberation Theology. But Pell is far from being an idiot.
