Trolling the lunatics or anti-Confederate iconoclasm?

On August 17th it was reported that someone had sprayed "TEAR IT DOWN" on the base of the golden statue of St Joan of Arc on Decatur Street in New Orleans' French Quarter. The incident actually happened May 5th, well before Charlottesville. (The anti-Confederate hoopla has been going on since banning the Confederate flag awhile back.)

This would seem to relate to the tearing down of America's Confederate monuments across the South, five alone in Baltimore stealthily in the middle of the night this past week.

Amy Kirk Duvoisin, the founder of the annual Joan of Arc parade that ceremonially pauses at the statue on the first day of Carnival season, says she's confused by the vandalism. "Surely, people realize she's not related to American history," she said referring to the French icon. "The Joan of Arc statue also offers one of the few female representations in statue form, occupying a part in the small faction of monuments dedicated to underrepresented and minority peoples."

The two linked articles tell the the story, however what I like to read are the comments, some of which are hilarious but all too true, mainly because those who want the statue torn down have no idea who St Joan of Arc was. Therefore, many thanks to the authors of the comments below.
