President Trump's Easter and Passover Message

Can you imagine Hillary - the Islamic OIC Globalist - saying this? We had better be thanking God that President Trump was victorious. We were given a 4 year (now three) reprieve from the powers of darkness. Pray for 2020, because if  Democrats win, there will be hell to pay for all "Deplorables". BTW - where is Huma Abedin now?

Why does the pope keep talking to Scalfari?

Vatican: Don’t trust report that Pope Francis denied reality of hell

Remember the old adage, "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me!" Can anyone explain why the pope keeps talking to atheist "journalist" Eugenio Scalfari? Every time he does (even when he didn't "grant an interview") the Vatican has to do damage control. The latest is the comment about whether hell exists or sinners just (poof!) cease to exist. Unfortunately, the Vatican response doesn't present the doctrine clearly, it just reiterates (once again) that Scalfari takes no notes or recordings and just remembers in his own words what the pope said.

Seems to me that Il Papa and Scalfari should confine their discussions to the weather.

I always thought NPR was a joke! But they outdid themselves mis-defining Easter!

When I read that NPR (National Public Radio) said Easter was "the day celebrating the idea that Jesus did not die and go to hell or purgatory or anywhere at all but rather arose into heaven." I thought it had to be an April Fools joke -- albeit a little early. I always check out things that sound preposterous, and so I went to the source itself and there it was -- the revised article with a correction at the bottom. This is why I do not listen to NPR. Their ignorance and bias are so pervasive they can't even get a simple fact right, one that every Christian child knows. (This is one more reason NPR should be defunded! Why should taxpayers be forced to advance their liberal stupidity?)

But, hey, they're good for a laugh on this Holy Saturday and this should remind us to pray for liberal so-called "journalists" many of whom live in echo chambers devoid of Christians. Hence their ignorance of basic Christian beliefs. So let's all pray for liberal reporters at the Easter liturgy. It's a time of hope, after all.

An earlier version of this post incorrectly described Easter as "the day celebrating the idea that Jesus did not die and go to hell or purgatory or anywhere at all, but rather arose into heaven.

Our Lover Comes; How Will You Receive Him?

In 2010 I posted this article by a dear priest, Fr. Robert Lange, who went to his eternal reward in 2015. On this Holy Thursday, I think it is worth repeating. I will be praying for Father at the service this evening. I hope you will too.

And did you know that The Law of the Church is Communion on the Tongue? Receiving in the hand is an indult, an exception to the law, that was given to the bishops of the United States because of widespread disobedience by the flock, disobedience that many of the bishops encouraged. Sad, isn't it, the damage done by false shepherds acting more like the hireling? May we all pray and fast for our bishops and clergy that they will be able to say with Christ, "Zeal for your house consumes me." (Psalm 69:9, John 2:17)

Respect For Christ In The Eucharist – One Priest’s Perspective

Snowflakes on the March

The March was all about demonizing the NRA and gun
owners. Not one word of criticism was aimed at the shooter
or the cops who stood by while the killing occurred.
Last year on this date, I wrote about the snowflakes. I revisited that post today because of the snowflakes' big march, also call the March for Our Lives. It got me thinking once again about the snowflake generation that runs from chalk messages on the sidewalk but is happy to join a bullying mob like the students at Providence College who went after Michael Smalanskas for daring to promote marriage between one man and one woman.

The tragedy in Florida's Parkland school deserves a response, but not a rally reminiscent of liberal mob events used by leftists to stir up crowds against (take your pick) aristocrats (the French Revolution), the czar (the Russian Revolution), Catholics (the Protestant Reformation), Jews (Nuremberg rallies), the NRA and gun owners, etc.

The Passion Begins.... For the Underground Church in China

Bishop Guo of the underground church
allegedly refused to concelebrate Easter Mass
with excommunicated bishop.
Bishop Guo, underground bishop of Mindong, was arrested yesterday along with his diocesan chancellor. It seems appropriate that this terrible situation is taking place during passion week!

What is especially tragic, however, is the part the Vatican is playing in the persecution. The headlines below highlight the betrayal of the poor, persecuted Catholics of China who have risked much to continue praying in the underground Church that remained faithful to the Holy See. In today's modern Church, it seem no martyrdom goes unpunished. The real bishops are being asked to step down so government-appointed bishops of the faux Catholic Patriotic Association can take their places. Is Et tu, Brute the proper reaction or Do you betray your master with a kiss? Perhaps both.

Monday of Holy Week: St. Francis de Sales on Humility and Obedience

I continue to read St. Francis de Sales' Sermons on Lent. On Palm Sunday, the focus was on humility
and obedience. St. Francis is a master of the spiritual life and we can certainly benefit from meditating on his writing during this Holy Week:
Everything in the world has two faces, because everything has two principles. The first is God, the first cause of everything that exists. The second is the nothingness from which everything has been drawn. Now, since God is the first principle of every being, there is nothing that does not contain something beautiful and lovable in it. But since very created things is drawn out of nothingness, each contains some imperfection.

Sunday Meditation: Holy Week Begins....On Betrayal and the Church in China

Our Lady of China, pray for the
persecuted underground Church.
Holy Week begins. The betrayal is imminent, a betrayal that continues throughout history like the expanding ripples in a lake. Judas isn't far from us. He lives in our hearts and we can see him in the larger events occurring around us as I realized once again this morning with sorrow.

I was reading a LifeSiteNews article reprinted in The Wanderer about Cardinal Zen and his dismay over the Vatican betraying China's underground Church and recognizing the unfaithful bishops excommunicated by previous popes.

What a head-shaker!

The suffering Church in China must be feeling the same betrayal as Catholics in England watching their bishops bend the knee to a lustful monarch who began the systematic dismantling of the Church. Except for St. John Fisher, I'm not aware of a single courageous English bishop who defended the faith.

Does American Exceptionalism Include Draconian Human Experimentation?

Cold Springs Harbor where evil
experiments were conceived.
I don't believe in American exceptionalism. As a country with fallen leaders running things, we are just as prone to commit evil as other countries when we stray from Christian principles.

Did you know that Adolf Hitler got lots of ideas for his eugenics policies from Cold Spring Harbor, the Long Island eugenics laboratory? Hitler was actually a Johnny-come-lately to the field. American scientists were way ahead of Dr. Josef Mengele, the infamous German "angel of death" who performed terrible experiments using prisoners of war and Jews, including children, as his lab animals. His experiments with twins are infamous. You can read about the roots of the Nazi eugenics program here.

Sheik of the Burning Sand

Huma Abedin suggested I post this video. Only kidding. I wanted to post it before it's taken down by YouTube censors since National Enquirer' s magazine, THE NEW KINGDOM, features Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman on the front cover.

STOP! Think of a dead baby every time you consider eating a Girl Scout Cookie!

Would you buy Girl Scout Cookies if the
remains of an aborted baby were on the box?
#JustSayNotoGirlScoutCookies

Do you think anyone would buy a box of Thin Mints if the body of a dead baby "decorated" the cover?" It should. Because every time you buy a box of Samoas or Thin Mints or any other cookie from those cute little green-clad leprechauns outside the Walmart, you support the biggest abortion provider in the world, Planned Parenthood. LifeNews posted this yesterday about the Girl Scouts:
Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA) has become a politically divisive, pro-abortion organization that has abandoned its mission years ago. GSUSA is the largest member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), which aggressively promotes abortion and promiscuous sex on behalf of its 10 million members. WAGGGS states that “anyone who is a Girl Guide or Girl Scout is automatically a member.” GSUSA pays about 1.5 million dollars annually to WAGGGS.

The Reign of Terror at Providence College: When Catholic Schools Embrace Evil

What exactly is offensive about this?
[Sign the Petition to Providence College and please pass it on. Let's make this go viral!]

First they came for Professor Anthony Esolen... See The Wolves are Howling.

And now the barbarians at Providence College are threatening a Resident Assistant, senior Michael Smalanskas, with anal rape for daring to put up a bulletin board defending the Catholic doctrine that marriage is between one man and one woman!

All the Sickening Sickness is Sick - Penis Facials, Eating Human Meat and the Peace of Islam

The West is sick to the point of dying
How sick is sick? Sickness is all around us. It's everywhere - not the sickness of being ill with a disease but the sickness of people doing sick things. Immoral things. Evil things. And each day that dawns brings one more immoral evil sickening story. The following happened in the last three days. Three!

A
mother in Oklahoma married her own son then had the marriage annulled after incest charges, then she got hitched to her daughter after the government legalized gay marriage. The daughter had that marriage annulled because she said her mother had led her into it fraudulently. That entire scenario is sickening!

Cardinal Cupich and Fr. Frank Phillips, Merciful Accompaniment or the Mailed Fist?

What is really going on with Cardinal Cupich's
action against Fr. Frank Phillips?
It's all over the Catholic blogosphere. Fr. Frank Phillips of the Canons Regular and pastor of traditional parish, St. John Cantius, has been removed (very publicly) for unspecified "credible allegations" of improper behavior with adult men. Is it true? Who knows at this point. It's under investigation.

Bishop Emeritus Rene Gracida posted on his shock and disturbance at the way the situation is being handled:
I was stunned by the news....Thirty years ago Father Phillips, a member of the Resurrection Congregation, had founded at Saint John Cantius Parish a Diocesan Institute known as the Canons Regular of Saint John Cantius. Over the years the Canons Regular have grown in numbers and have made Saint John Cantius world famous as a church where the Traditional Latin Mass is celebrated in all its forms perfectly.

Message from the Squirrels: Adoption not Abortion

The world would be a better place if we all acted like squirrels. If a squirrel finds an abandoned baby squirrel, it will adopt the baby and take it home and raise it. Think about that, you pro-abortion folks. Are you really less loving than a squirrel?

How Much Evil Comes about Through Sacrilegious Communions?

Catherine of Siena, Saint of
the Eucharist, pray for us.
That's a good question and I don't know the answer, but how can this grave sin not bring destruction on the one who commits it and on those around him and the community? Think of the destruction that fell on Sodom and Gomorrah. Will sacrilege against Jesus Christ Himself not bring about moral destruction?

In 2011, Fr. Tom Collins sent two letters to Archbishop Timothy Dolan while he was head of the USCCB (U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops) raising some important issues about the Holy Eucharist. They remain relevant, and, in fact, are even more important considering that sacrilegious Communions are actively encouraged since the publication of Amoris Laetitia.  And so, I offer excerpts from Father's letters while encouraging Catholics to meditate on Jesus' Real Presence in the Eucharist.

Do we approach Communion in fear and trembling? We certainly should!

Here are Father's thoughts from his letter of August, 2011:

Did You Hear the Fanfare for March 14th? You Should Have!

Pope Pius XI
March 14th was the 81st anniversary of Mit Brennender Sorge, Pope Pius XI's encyclical on Nazism. He wrote it in 1937, four years after Adolf Hitler was named Chancellor of Germany. That same year, 1933, Hitler was raised to dictator; the Reich initiated the burnings to purge works that reflected an "unGerman spirit"including books by Helen Keller, Jack London, and Ernest Hemingway; construction of Dachau was completed; eugenic sterilization laws were passed and the Vatican signed a Concordat trying to protect the rights of the Church and the Catholic faithful.

Hitler, of course, never intended to keep any of the agreements of the Concordat, a reminder of another tyrant and another Concordat between Napoleon and the Vatican in the 19th century. Hitler was simply one more game-playing tyrant who wanted to suppress intervention by the Church in his political affairs, and the Church was his major opponent. Hitler, a baptized Catholic who hadn't practiced the faith since childhood, was creating his own religion, a combination of teutonic paganism with new age-type spirituality that incorporated distorted elements of Christianity like the "naming ceremony" for babies born in the "Lebensborns" which were essentially brothels for Nazi officers. Hitler saw himself as the Lord and Master of the super race, even manipulating the birth of "perfect" Aryans.

Is Anyone at the Vatican a Truth Teller? More on the Benedict Letter and Pope Francis' Theology

The gates of hell will never
prevail against the Church!
Omigoodness! The plot gets thicker and thicker. Those Vatican communicators really know how to lay it on so thick you need a sharp knife to cut through it.

Sandro Magister has the latest on what was left out by Msgr. Vigano when he quoted Benedict's letter declining to comment on the eleven volumes about the theology of Pope Francis. You can read the entire article here, but if you just want the quick and dirty version here it is:
The reason adopted by Benedict XVI in the final lines of his letter - we are told by an incontrovertible source - is the presence among the authors of those eleven booklets of two German theologians, and one in particular, Peter Hünermann, who was an implacable critic both of John Paul II and of Joseph Ratzinger himself as theologian and as pope.

If you hear this greeting today: "The Top of the Morning To You!"

The response is..."And the Rest of the Day to Yourself!"
St. Patrick's Day trivia:

  • The first St. Patrick's Day parade was held in New York's Manhattan in 1762 when a group of Irish soldiers in the British army gathered and paraded down Broadway to celebrate the day.
  • “Erin go bragh” means "Ireland forever!"
  • The St. Patrick's day celebration in Chicago includes dumping a secret "dye" into the Chicago River turning a portion green.

Meditating on My Pencil and the Desire to Be among the Sharpest in the Box!

Let's all aim to be the
sharpest pencils we can be!
I'm using a pencil to make notes today. It looked fine when I picked it up, nice and sharp and ready to use. But when I put it to paper I realized the graphite was not in the pencil's center. (Must be made in China!) On one side the graphite seemed to have a nice point that should write well. But on the other side the wooden sheath went all the way to the tip. So my pencil will only write on one side. And even that deteriorates quickly as the graphite wears down and the wood hits the paper. Frustrating!

That faulty pencil got me thinking about centering. The Oxford definition defines centering as "placed or situated in the center." Hmm...I was taught you should never use the word being defined in the definition. Dictionary.com does a little better in that respect defining it as " equidistant from all bordering or adjacent areas." When used to describe a person, being "centered" means "to be well balanced and confident and serene."

Really! Is Everything Realeased by the Vatican Put through the Spin Machine?

UPDATE: From Steve Skojec - Personal Thoughts on the Benedict Correspondence

We've all been hearing how heartily Pope Emeritus Benedict endorsed the theological writings of Pope Francis. He's a brilliant theologian don't you know?

Well, it now appears that the famous Benedict letter was doctored, that Pope Benedict hasn't read Pope Francis' works, and that the Vatican wasn't satisfied with the kind words he DID say, so they just conveniently put a fake spin on the letter.

To Pope Francis on his Fifth Anniversary from Eccles is Saved!

Pope Francis celebrated his fifth anniversary as pope on March 13th and, perhaps in recognition, a film is coming out this May called Pope Francis - A Man of His Word. There doesn't appear to be anything facetious about the title, but I have to confess it got me thinking.

Let's see....Pope Francis is a man of his word, but which words? He contradicts himself so often, following him is like watching the ball in a tennis match:

  • Pope Francis, during the Extraordinary Synod on the Family, called for his clergy to be open and transparent and not be afraid to express their views. And yet, how many YEARS has it been since concerned cardinals asked a few questions that required a yes or no answer? And got NO answer! Is that the transparency the pope meant?

Islam's contribution to world culture in 1915
*See end note about this picture
The title of this post was going to be "The Culture of the West vs that of Islam". But then I thought: Culture? Islam has a culture"?

Saying "the culture of the West versus the culture of Islam suggests two cultures put on the same level, as if they were two parallel entities. Two realities of equal weight and value." (Oriana Fallaci)

In her book,
The Rage and the Pride, famously known as "a sermon to the West", Oriana Fallaci says, "Behind our Western culture there is Homer, there is Pheidias, there is Socrates, there is Plato, there is Aristotle, there is Archimedes. There is ancient Greece with its divine sculpture and architecture and poetry and philosophy, with its principle of democracy.

"There is Ancient Rome with all its grandeur, its universality, its concept of the Law, its palaces, its amphitheaters its aqueducts, its streets built all over the then known world. There is Jesus who died on the cross to teach us the concept of love and justice. There is also a Church...there is Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raffello, Lorenzo il Magnifico...There is also Erasmus, and Montaigne and Thomas More and Cartesius.

One of Our Favorite Lenten Activities: Making Pretzels and Praying the Pretzel Prayer

Four little visitors came for the afternoon and it is always a challenge on a windy chilly day to think of creative indoor activities. I got out the bags of colored home-made play dough and the cookie cutters which kept everyone busy for some time. Rolling snakes made me remember one of our favorite Lenten projects -- making pretzels like little praying arms. Fortunately I had a package of yeast (slightly out of date) but it was active enough.

While the children finished playing with play dough, I made the real dough for the pretzels. Then they all pulled up chairs to the counter (after hand-washing, of course) and we shaped the pretzels, baked them, said the pretzel prayer and ate them with honey and/or mustard. Since I didn't take any pictures, I refer you to a post from 2016 with the prayer and the recipe at my Grandma blog. This activity is always a big hit so I hope you try it with your kids or grandkids! Since the oldest granddaughter gave up sweets for Lent this was a much better activity than the old grandma staple of baking cookies!

Monday Morning Meandering: "Climate Change" and other Stuff

  • False prophets on the left keep blathering: Just thinking....we should all be dead by now. Paul Ehrlich, the bug scientist who predicted in the 1960s that overpopulation would kill us all by starvation is still spouting nonsense and people are still dumb enough to give him a platform including the Vatican. And then there's Al Gore whose silly movie, An Inconvenient Truth, claimed Miami and Manhattan would be underwater by now. Of course, they aren't, but that hasn't kept him from continuing to impersonate Chicken Little with a stupid sequel that is filled with errors and junk science. Just go home, Al, and take Paul with you! Let's listen to a real climate scientist, Roy Spencer.

Sunday Meditation: Should the English Translation of the Our Father be Changed?

St. Francis de Sales would definitely oppose
changing the Our Father!
Last December Pope Francis suggested (in an impromptu comment) changing the translation of the Our Father from "lead us not into temptation" to "do not let us fall into temptation." I don't know if there is any support for the change among the English speaking hierarchy, but I don't think St. Francis de Sales, bishop and Doctor of the Church, would agree. I think he would oppose the French bishops who did, in fact, change the translation before the pope's comments. effective the first Sunday of Advent. (Maybe that's what gave the pope the idea.)

Amoris Laettia: The Vehicle for the Latest Assault by the Dissenters

Charlie Curran's still in the dissent saddle
chortlinging, We'll get Humanae Vitae yet!
Remember back in 1968 when the encyclical on marriage, Humanae Vitae, was released affirming the sanctity of marriage and the marital embrace?

Remember the lavish full color booklets dioceses developed to spread the message to the Catholic faithful to help them understand the teaching of the Church and why contraception violated God's plan of love for the family? Remember all those beautiful sermons and conferences with priests and married couples eloquently expressing their appreciation for the document?

No?

You don't remember that?

Not at all?

Right! I don't either. All we heard was the sound of silence.

Mary Wagner, Inspiration for the Red Rose Rescues, is Released from Prison.

I received the following email today about Canadian rescuer Mary Wagner who was released mid-trial on her own recognizance. Note the significance of the date of her release and the date the trial resumes. None of this is accidental. Nothing "just happens." God is very close to those who rescue as I can testify from personal experience. Rejoice and pray for all those who are willing to risk arrest and jail to protect babies in the womb.

Really, Some People Just Can't Read!

I read a blog post the other day that raked Msgr. Charles Pope over the coals because of an article titled "Kindness is not the same as love." After I read Msgr. Pope's article I wondered if the blogger knew how to read. The monsignor was making the point that "Love should not be reduced to mere kindness." It's much more. He specifically said that "Kindness is certainly a good thing and has an important place in our relationships" and "Kindness is an aspect of love." But, Monsignor Pope goes on, "it is necessarily distinct from it, for it sometimes happens that love, which wills what is best for the other, may deem it best not to remove all suffering." And then he writes about parents disciplining their children, etc.

St. Thomas More once said, “There is no time so evil that a good man cannot live in it.” Of course, as things turned out, he could not, in fact, live in that evil time, and suffered martyrdom through the betrayal of liars and sycophants. And other good men and women over the next decades under succeeding monarchs of that trying English period died too: clergy like Bishop John Fisher and scores of priests including Jesuits St. Edmund Campion and St. Robert Southwell, lay priest protectors like Anne Line and Margaret Clitherow, and a host of others dragged to the “tree” at Tyburn, their personal cross, to be hanged, drawn and quartered.1

Thought for the Day: Sola Scriptura Makes No Sense!

And if you interpret it any which way, and reject
the authority of the Church, the same applies!
I'm always catching up on my reading and this morning I'm reading the January 4th issue of The Wanderer. Great publication! Raymond De Souza has an article in his Live Your Faith series providing testimony from early Christians on the sacrament of Confession which proves it was practiced from the first century. He is refuting the contention by some skeptics that the sacrament was an invention from the Middle Ages and demonstrates through the writings of The Fathers of the Church (and others) to illustrate his point. But the paragraph that caught my eye was this:

Gucci Models Carry Their Own (Replicated) Severed Heads on Runway

Me and my
new Gucci bag

Where can I buy one!
A fashion must have...
There's nothing like Cultural Marxism to bring out ugliness and evil. The fashion world is abuzz at how the grotesque severed heads were made, model's third eye in the middle of her forehead, horns, baby dragons and snakes, and how and where the figures were born in the imagination of weird fashion designer Alessandro Michele for Gucci's latest Fall-Winter 2018 Milan fashion show.

Michele, described as "a true artist filled with sensitivity", says that severed heads in his creepy operating room runway set remind us of Lord of the Rings and Judith in the Bible...because the Bible is the first thing we think of when we see people beheaded, right? And in the next instant the image of Judith beheading Holofernes leaps into our minds. Right? Of course not.

Severed heads = Islam, but no one would dare say the obvious. That would be Islamophobic. Therefore Michele merely speaks fluff-talk to cover up Europe's current dhimmi situation along with their subliminal mindset which is capitulation to Islam. It's as if, with the severed heads, Gucci is presenting a tribute to Islam - and the message is loud and clear: "Oh conquering Muslim masters, we submit! We give up! We carry our heads to lay at your feet."

Guest Post: Dr. King’s Response to Those Who Fear Red Rose Rescues

We welcome our guest author today who is writing about the "Red Rose Rescues" a peaceful movement to offer mothers in abortion centers the support to carry their babies to term. These peaceful pro-lifers go into the abortion facilities and give the mothers red roses, the symbol of precious babies in the womb, with a promise of assistance and a list of resources. Please read and share. Only when we begin to act like abortion is the tragedy it is and are willing to risk our own lives and freedom for the little ones and their moms will things change. The sacrifice of those who stand in unity with the infants, the tiniest of God's least ones, is the yeast that will leaven the culture of life and make it grow and spread. God bless all the dear ones participating in the Red Rose Rescues! I pray for the courage and energy to rejoin the rescue movement personally.

by Richard Cowden Guido

For reasons not overly obscure the Orwell memory hole of our era has chosen to bury the most extensive and popular expression of non-violent civil resistance in American history: it nonetheless remains that in terms of incidents, arrests, and incarceration no other social struggle against injustice in this country comes remotely close to the movement that began even before Roe v. Wade, and came to be known as Operation Rescue.

Yet while it has never died out altogether, the popular quality that saw nearly 100,000 Americans arrested for rescue between 1988 and 1991 faded for numerous reasons by 1992:

Not true of course. All women pretending to be men and taking drugs that help create the illusion of being men have uteruses (unless they've had them surgically removed). And some men pretending to be women have surgery that removes some of their male parts and creates faux women-parts. But the SCIENTIFIC FACT remains that girls will be girls and boys will be boys and nothing on God's green earth can change the reality. All the rest is playing "let's pretend."

But I love some of the responses this ridiculous statement generated. Ben Shapiro tweeted, "Then I guess your argument that men can’t have opinions on abortion is destroyed, isn’t it." Comedian Owen Benjamin tweeted:
