Do many Christians in the United States recognize the magnitude of disaster on the horizon due to passage of the Respect for Marriage Sodomy Act? Study history. Sexual immorality is the harbinger of tyranny.
Ancient Rome went from a virtuous republic to an empire characterized by lust and murder which led to its ultimate demise. The debacle in 16th century England and mass persecution against Catholics erupted after the sexual immorality of Henry VIII resulting in a cataclysm for that poor country with thousands of martyrs! The French Revolution exploded after widespread sexual license by atheistic revolutionaries like the Marquis de Sade. The revolutionaries, like our own, overthrew French laws against sodomy. And then of course there are the Biblical narratives. God sent the flood because of the gross immorality of the world. Sodom (Note the name where the terms sodomy and sodomite come from.) and Gomorrah were destroyed because of sexual immorality. The people of that debauched city even wanted to sodomize the angel messengers sent to rescue Lot and his family. I could list other examples including the debased German culture before the rise of Hitler.
Yes, indeed, sexual immorality is a harbinger of violence and martyrdom. Scary thought isn't it in view of the gross immorality of the U.S.
Which brings me back to the Sodomy Act.
The bill repealed the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) which really did support marriage. Chris Manion pointed out in a Wanderer article published December 8th (the date Congress voted to pass the abomination against God), that the Heritage Foundation defined "four governmental interests defended by the bill." Note -- "GOVERNMENTAL INTERESTS!" Not Christian interests, not Catholic interests, not Judeo-Christian interests, but "governmental interests." These were:
- defending and nurturing the institution of traditional, heterosexual marriage; (You know, what civics books used to say was the building block of society. The family raises children to become responsible citizens building up the state and guaranteeing its future. Not any more!)
- defending traditional notions of morality; (A state is only as good as its citizens. The four cardinal virtues in Catholic philosophy: prudence, courage, temperance, and justice are not strictly Catholic in nature. In fact they came down to us from Plato who described their importance in The Republic. Our culture today in the U.S. is less moral than that of the ethical pagans living long before Christ.)
- protecting state sovereignty and democratic self-governance; (The sodomy act forces states that have laws against same-sex marriage to recognize them when couples "married" in other states move there. This is like the Dred Scott decision which forced non-slave states to recognize that slaves brought there by their masters were just property and remained property. Essentially, the Sodomy Act disenfranchises the people of the states opposing the woke agenda.)
- preserving scarce government resources. (The family is the greatest protection against the massive welfare state.)

ReplyDeleteThis whole thing is a difficult test and we will begin to see Matthew 10 and how it rends our lives. Let me please share a recent story.
My wife (Methodist) and I (N.O. raised and fallen away, now returned and turning more and more TradCat) had a nice dinner and evening with our Swedish friends, Both divorced, each 2 kids in previous marriage, each one has a “gay” child, and the mom is a Swedish church now Lutheran minister…. (Trying not to go into the weeds!)…
The conversation late night tuned to the Bible as we all agreed the world is turning away, however it split when they gave me a their modern interpretation on some items, especially “love” and acceptance of this marriage issue.
I told them Romans 1 was very clear on this issue and they gave me the modernist turn on it “now we know more” where I rebutted that the more I read and learn the Bible the more I see wisdom discarded in todays society.
They then challenged me to judge their gay children’s fate with heaven, I told them that the path to heaven is for them not to engage in these actions and that only God will judge, but he tells us the path we must walk…
They told me that we are all saved and will be in heaven, but I rebutted that few are saved and that point resounds in the Bible and that I’m not even confident in my salvation…
Well of course that put tremendous stress on all relationships…
How do we introduce our Traditional Catholic positions to the ones we love in this world (let alone others we barely know) and get a seed to root without their full rejection? I seem to be alienating all but TradCats around me.
Ps: I married my wife in her church 20+ years ago, but by the grace of God he allowed me to correct my error and we were married Catholic (albeit N.O.) 6 years ago. The prospects of my wife’s conversion is slim to none. That’s another story into the weeds.
Remember what Jesus said, they will hate us because they hated Him first.
DeleteYou don't mention whether you have any children, grandchildren. If so, speaking from personal experience, pray for everyone in your circles of family and friends, but focus your energies on the children even if they are grown adults. That's enough to keep your hands full.
DeleteSome demons are only driven out by prayer and fasting. That’s the Rx. And then we need confidence in God. Wouldn’t hurt to send our guardian angels before us when we are getting together with family and friends who embrace the modern zeitgeist. Their prayers can have a powerful impact.

The genocide and sterilization of the global population with poisons marketed as "vaccines", the grooming and mutilation of children for pedophiles and homosexuals, the coming engineered wars and famines. These demonic agents posing as "representatives", Catholic, and legitimate government are imposing their perversions and culling on the world.

DeleteMary Ann: first my point is the acknowledgment of the filth Germans were sinking into and looking for a leader to restore vortue and classic German values which can also be seen in much greater evidence than their big propagation of “Butch homosexuality “. I appreciate any acknowledgment of that reality versus the broken record of the Nazis cleaning house for no reason or that even the house needed cleaning.

Wild accusations per Anonymous below and easily debunked, but starting with US soldiers stating the German soldiers were true professionals, not a lot of rubbish behavior.
Dinosaur song would be funny if you believed they were wiped out by a meteor. I don't. I think they died in the flood with everything else. The surviving dinosaurs that entered the ark are still with us today. Lizards and other egg laying reptiles. The meteor theory is only that, theory.
ReplyDeleteThomas, I have five children and 27 grandchildren. I pray for them every day, but I also take seriously the Biblical admonition to "Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you." The best thing I can do for "enemies" is to pray and send my guardian angel to pray over them with their guardian angels. Conversion of people like Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden and other politicians, health professionals, media people, teachers, etc. would have a big impact on my children and grandchildren, so I'll continue to pray for them. If you want to see something about my "real life" visit my grandma blog. I do this one in answer to the call to go forth and share the good news. Even when things look dark, God is working to bring light and goodness from darkness and evil.

ReplyDeleteActually, Anonymous that is not true. Every sin has a societal impact. The destruction of marriage impacts us all. Same-sex unions twist the concept of marriage and the family until they are unrecognizable. And sodomites have certainly impacted the livelihoods of those in the marriage industry when they sue photographers, bakers, wedding planners, etc. who refuse to abandon their consciences and be prostituted by them.
They also influence the abortion industry. I used to wonder why the gays were always out at the abortion facilities joining the feminists since their sterile sex couldn't result in pregnancy. Then I realized it was all about doing whatever you wanted to do with your body: abort it, sodomize it, fornicate with it, drug it, mutilate it, etc.
They will certainly "answer to God," but not only for their own personal actions hurting themselves, but also for what their sins did and continue to do to so many others.
The goal of liberalism is the destruction of all morality. This country is well on its way to Sodom and Gomorrah and it is only going to get worse. May God have mercy on us.
