Good News and Bad News on the Latin Mass Front
Good news from a good bishop:
Bishop Paprocki: “The problem has not been solved, but tensions have been heightened.”
Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield, IL offers hope, consolation, and kindness to those who love the TLM. Following the motus proprio, Tradionis Custodes, he issued a decree on continuance of the Latin Mass in Springfield.

Is Church Militant covering up for Rebecca Carroll?
Thought for the Day on the State of the Church -- Never Fear, Little Flock!
How I love reading the Imitation of Mary every morning. It puts suffering in perspective seen in the shadow of the cross of Christ. We all love to be consoled and to see a world full of sweetness and light. That is certainly not our experience at present is it? The secular city and the city of God seem to be crumbling around us.
If you feel that way, remember that feelings don't necessarily translate into facts. Following them can lead us into confusion and despair. Worried about the state of the world? Worried about the state of the Church? Take a deep breath and take heart. Nothing just happens! All is in the Providence of God. "All things work together for good for those who love the Lord and serve according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28) This consoling message comes from Book 2, chapter 32 of the Imitation of Mary:

Integrity and Credibility: Church Militant's Attack on Fr. Pierre Duverger
Hmm...Is that one of Fr. Duverger's eyelashes? |
Some of CM's reporting has facts to back up their assertions. And that's fine. Present the facts; ask the questions; see where they lead. If someone's committed a crime bring criminal charges. Hold those accountable who are proved to be guilty by solid evidence not by rumor, hearsay, and innuendo.

Friday Morning Musing on a Spiritual Work of Mercy...
Many of us would like everyone else to practice the golden rule: Do unto others what you would have them do unto you!
But do we practice it?
The human tendency and a great temptation might be called the iron rule: Do unto others what they do to you. If someone brings a knife to a fight, you take a gun is the philosophy of our modern pagans.
The biblical admonition of an "eye for an eye" was actually a rule that limited the punishment for wrongdoing. If someone committed a crime against another person, the punishment had to be balanced. You couldn't kill someone for robbing you. What sounds harsh was actually a brake on the human tendency to seek revenge.

Another One Bites the Dust! No Wonder We Don't Trust the USCCB!
The Limits of a Priest’s Right to Privacy
Note the priest's position. It's almost funny. The man using an app to "hook up" with other men looking for sex with other men (Any man will do.). was in charge of....wait for it...."overseeing sex abuse cases."

The SSPX is NOT in Schism! Stop Already the Ignorant Accusations!
I'm tired of hearing ad nauseum the accusation that the SSPX is in schism. THEY ARE NOT! And as the pope cracks down on the TLM (traditional Latin Mass), the flock may, with clear consciences, attend the Masses offered by the Society.
So let's take a closer look.
This comes from the Fatima Center and is from part 1 of a series on the SSPX:

Latin Mass in the Diocese of Arlington -- It Will Continue for Now
“In prayer and obedience, I am reflecting on the motu proprio issued by Pope Francis and discerning how best to implement the changes,” said Bishop Michael F. Burbidge. “As permitted by the motu proprio, I intend to allow Masses in the Extraordinary Form to continue in the Diocese of Arlington.”
To All Those Who Think Every Pope is the Reincarnation of St. Peter....
One of the meditations (my favorite) in the Spiritual Exercises is on The Two Standards. The retreatant is presented two scenes. On a hill near Babylon (the city of confusion) Satan appears to be seated on a high throne surrounded by terrifying demons. Smoke fills the air and the howls of the demons assault the ears. Satan urges on his minions to attack all the followers of Christ to gather them into his hellish kingdom. He advises them with wicked strategies for debasing consciences.
The second scene is a plain around Jerusalem (the city of peace) where Jesus gathers all under His banner urging His followers to go out and spread the words of faith, bringing all to a knowledge of His love and mercy.
So now let's see...which do I choose?
and THIS
or THIS

Our Spiritual Father Gave Us a Serpent Yesterday!
Do you ever read a post that strikes a chord of joy or sorrow and actually brings tears to your eyes? That happened to me this morning when I read Eric Sammons article at Crisis Magazine.
Traditionis custodes: Serpents over Fish
I grieve for children who have absentee or negligent or abusive fathers. What a tragedy for those youngsters! Today, after the pope dropped a bomb on the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) yesterday, I know how they feel. I'm sure many others who love the TLM could say the same thing. Here's a bit from Sammon's piece:

Breathing a Sigh of Relief: Just Sent the Newsletter to the Printer
The red buds were in glorious profusion this Spring as we headed to Texas. |
Blog readers may not know that I put out a quarterly print newsletter. Well...it's usually quarterly. I combined the Spring and Summer issue this year because of coming down with COVID in March and then my husband having COVID and surgery (and another surgery on the calendar for early August). It's been a challenging few months. Toss in a few wonderful events like a trip to visit our son and his family in Texas and our big 4th of July bash and it's been a busy-busy time.

Discouragement in the Face of Evil is NOT an Option
My child, the thing I certainly wanted above all else was for Jesus to be known.... My zeal for His glory made me feel deeply the hardening of Jewish [read Catholic] hearts. Yet why should I have therefore lost my peace of soul? I knew that God often makes use of evil in carrying out His plans; I knew He draws good from evil. Therefore in silence I adored the infinite wisdom that at times allows wickedness to triumph....

Thought for the day from St. Bonaventure
"The perfection of a religious man is to do common things in a perfect manner. A constant fidelity in small things is a great and heroic virtue."
500 years before Therese of Lisieux embraced her "little way," St. Bonaventure advocated it for his monks. Imagine the channel of grace it would be to make the bed for the love of Christ, to wash the dishes and scrub the sink.
Right now I'm watching a bluebird couple bring food to their babies. What a source of grace to feed little ones and wipe up their messes for the love of Christ, to get up patiently when a baby cries in the night. How many opportunities to grow in virtue we have in the ordinary challenges of daily life.
St. Bonaventure, pray for us.

Nuremberg Trials 2021: The Wuhan Fraud is a "Crime against Humanity"
1,000 lawyers and 10,000 medical experts are preparing a Nuremberg case against the WHO, the CDC, and the World Economic Forum's "Davos Group" for "crimes against humanity" over the Wuhan virus. (See here.) Among other violations, the Wuhan measures specifically violate Article 32 of the Geneva Convention that forbids “mutilation and medical or scientific experiments not necessitated by the medical treatment of a protected person”
Dr. Reiner Fullmich and his team allege that, "There has never been a coronavirus pandemic but a PCR test pandemic."
From the article:
Friday Morning Musings and Articles of Interest
I love working with our bees! I'm watching an eastern bluebird couple go in and out of the birdhouse my son-in-law built and posted for me. There is plenty of coming and going, so I suspect there are hatchlings demanding to be fed. It will be fun to watch them. I hope to see them fledge. God is so clearly revealed in His creation. The only creatures who defy Him, after the fallen angels, are we human creatures who persist in rebelling. The saddest thing is to see so many deform their reason and function at the level of feelings and passions. They scratch where it itches and live for their bellies and their genitals. What a pathetic way to live!

Pray for Pope Francis!
St. Therese and the multiple murderer Henri Pranzini |
Mundabor wrote today about the pope's illness in a post titled Pope Francis: the Clock is Ticking Faster. As a seventy-something old lady, I relate to that metaphor since the pendulum on my own clock is moving faster these days.

Medical Atrocity! COVID "Vaccine" Terminates Babies in the Womb!
Developing Baby at 14 weeks |
Depopulation alert: Shocking new study reveals covid vaccine terminates 4 out of 5 pregnancies
A shocking new study published in the New England Journal of Medicine reveals that when pregnant women are given covid vaccinations during their first or second trimesters, they suffer an 82 percent spontaneous abortion rate, killing 4 out of 5 unborn babies.
Out of the 127 women receiving vaccines during their first or second trimesters, 104 spontaneous abortions occurred before their pregnancies hit the 20-week mark.

The Rest of the 4th of July Story...
Before I describe the rest of our weekend activities, I want to give a shout out to a fellow blogger, Dymphna, who asked for prayers for me and Susan in her post on July 2nd. I love her "random thoughts" posts. In fact, I love everything about her blog and go to it almost every day to see if she's posted anything new. She finds some of the most beautiful religious art I've ever seen.
The internet can be a serious source of evil, but when I think of the people I never would have "met" or learned from without it, I am so grateful! God bless you, Dymphna! And thanks for your concern for me and Susan.
And now to "the rest of the story" about our activities on July 4th.

Home from Retreat -- From Five Days of Silence to....
...a 4th of July weekend bash!
Coming off a silent retreat is always a little bit of a culture shock, this year more than usual since I came home to three of my children and their families settled into Camp Kreitzer for the weekend. One of our daughters lives nearby so they head home at the end of the day, but the other four adults and nine children are in residence until Monday -- five granddaughters in the six-bed "girls dorm" and the four boys in the downstairs family room. The adult couples get bedrooms. We are blessed to have a big house that we bought to be our family retreat center when Larry retired. We considered the little retirement cottage, but, after prayer, decided that wasn't God's plan for us.
This past year Camp Kreitzer was a refuge for a homeless mom and her son for several months and for a friend transitioning from being a full-time RVer to moving on to another phase in life. But our favorite Camp Kreitzer events involve family. Larry and I are never happier than when Camp Kreitzer is bursting at the seams with our children, their spouses, and our grandchildren. Holidays often see a crowd ranging from all the littles to the adults.
