Minnesota Supreme Court Throws Out Repressed Memory Claim
When I was twelve I had a guy expose himself to me. I was walking my bike around a blind curve and he stopped and motioned for me to come over to the car, a convertible. I thought he wanted directions. It was traumatic! Far from forgetting it, I can remember to this day what the guy looked like, what he was wearing, what he said to me, and what the convertible he was driving looked like. It was burned into my memory.
I always thought repressed memory was a crock and it's good to see a court agreeing.

On the Feast of St. Ignatius - A Vocation Story
Blogging is funny. Sometimes you just happen upon a story that seems interesting to you that you'd like to share. This morning I was looking at my statcounter and found a large number of hits from people googling "Fr. Michael Taylor." Now, my diocese has a Fr. Taylor and I blogged awhile back about an altar girl flap when he decided to retire the girls and steer them in another direction. Needless to say, he incensed some of the feminists in the parish.
However, I suspect from at least some of the googlers that they were not looking for our Fr. Taylor but for a newly ordained Fr. Michael Taylor in the diocese of Albany. (Gosh, I though Bishop Hubbard had totally killed vocations there, but apparently he still gets a few.)
Anyway, Fr. Taylor's vocation story was carried in the diocesan paper and it intrigued me since he's a convert and originally thought that Catholics "were so weird that I was just curious." Here's what the paper included about him:
(REV.) MICHAEL TAYLOR
The first time Deacon Michael Taylor set foot in a Catholic church was to research a role for his high school musical. He's come a long way: This weekend, he'll be ordained a priest for the Albany Diocese.
Catholicism was considered cultish in his hometown of Warner Robins, Ga., which had 75,000 people and only one Catholic parish. Deacon Taylor, cast as a priest in the school play, was messing up his role - so he drove to a church seeking education.
He went to another town to keep from being spotted. Entering during a liturgy, he was immediately puzzled by the "swinging ball of smoke" (incense), the cross "with a guy on [it]" and Mass-goers' constant "interrupting" with prayer responses. As for the missal, it "might as well have been in Chinese," he remembered.
He mirrored the people in the pews as they sat, stood and kneeled. Then it was time for the Eucharist.
"This priest was all about this piece of bread," said Deacon Taylor. He was familiar with the concept of communion, but "I couldn't figure out why this priest thought it was so important."
Sense of humor
The visit sparked something.

Liberal Rage and Intolerance: Chick-fil-A is only the Beginning!
If liberals needed exposing for their in-your-face-we-hate-you intolerance, the Chick-Fil-A episode has unmasked their bloody fangs. Nobody who believes in traditional marriage may go unpunished. Just like "gay" activists went after those who donated to Proposition 8 in California, they and their fellow travelers are now lunging for the throat of a business that's as American as apple pie and fried chicken.
Let's take a look at the back story that brought out the muttations foaming at the mouth for chicken blood and snapping at the heels of the company. It began back in January with a story about Chick-Fil-A donating food to several traditional marriage conferences. That was enough to put the company on the radar screen for annihilation. In November, the gay advocacy group Equality Matters revealed that the company had donated close to $2 million to organizations that defend traditional marriage. But the spark that ignited over-the-top intolerant rage against the company was an interview of 91-year-old president Dan Cathy with the Baptist Press. Here's the section of the interview that brought out the homosexual hatemongers:
When did anyone give homosexuals the right to define for all of us that marital intercourse is the same as anal sex? No one is denying civil rights of homosexuals by telling the truth that they can't marry. And I use the word CAN'T deliberately. It is a physical impossibility for two men or two women to marry each other because their bodies do not fit together. It's the natural law. It's like claiming your civil rights are being violated because you can't fly.
At any rate, liberal politicians are piling on telling the company not to open resturants in their cities. The intolerance and demagoguery of the politicians is shocking! Since when does a politician, elected by the people, have the right to use the force of government to discriminate against Chick-Fil-A. That's the discrimination here; not discrimination against homosexuals. Let the "gay" activists organize a boycott of the company. That's the American way. Frankly, I avoid Starbucks like bubonic plague. But that's not the same thing as using the power of the state to crush a business that is politically incorrect.
This is just the beginning and a warning to Christian businesses that kristallnacht is coming to them too. Stand up and fight while you still can!
Oh...and my advice. "Eat mor chikin."

The company invests in Christian growth and ministry through its WinShape Foundation (WinShape.com). The name comes from the idea of shaping people to be winners. And there you have it folks. Surprise! Cathy is not calling for lynching homosexuals or banning them from lunch counters. He doesn't refuse to serve them at his restaurants. He is simply defending his own belief in traditional marriage as the bulwark of the Christian family and society. What he implies in the interview is a dislike of divorce, for heaven's sake! Thousands of years of history support Cathy's view. What exactly supports the "gay" redefinition of marriage? Nothing -- not a single thing!
It began as a college scholarship and expanded to a foster care program, an international ministry, and a conference and retreat center modeled after the Billy Graham Training Center at the Cove.
"That morphed into a marriage program in conjunction with national marriage ministries," Cathy added.
Some have opposed the company's support of the traditional family. "Well, guilty as charged," said Cathy when asked about the company's position.
"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.
"We operate as a family business ... our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that," Cathy emphasized.
"We intend to stay the course," he said. "We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

Goodbye! Bad Men: Rochester Bishop Clark Resigns
Earlier this month, Bishop Matthew Clark of Rochester reached mandatory retirement age and submitted his resignation. Thank God! Let's pray the Vatican accepts it quickly. During his 33 year tenure in Rochester, the bishop advanced homosexuality, supported dissenter theologians like Charlie Curran, promoted women's ordination, welcomed Dignity Masses, destroyed vocations, and closed about half the Catholic schools in the diocese. Talk about decimating the faith! The Vatican ordered him to remove the imprimatur from a sexuality handbook, by Fr. Matthew Kawiak that distorted Church teaching. A timeline of some of his other disgraceful acts is posted here. And another post here. One of the most public scandals to his discredit involved Fr. Jim Callan at Corpus Christi. Callan regularly "concelebrated Mass" with Mary Ramerman for years, Clark finally ordered him to stop and Callan was excommunicated when he left taking much of the parish with him. While the bishop claimed he took action on his own, Callan publicly stated that he believed the bishop was sympathetic and was ordered to act by then Cardinal Ratzinger at CDF (Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith).
An atheist could hardly have done more to damage the Church in Rochester than Bishop Clark over the past three decades. And to think he took over the seat of one of the greatest modern bishops in America, Fulton Sheen. You can read about Clark's exit and the "indelible mark" he left in the local secular paper. The gushing article basically canonized him. But at least a few faithful Catholics like Jim Likoudis were quoted as well. As for the "indelible mark" Clark leaves, it is a deep and ugly scar on the Church in Rochester. Orthodox Catholics are shaking his dust off their feet as he wraps up his Beavus and Butthead show. They are praying for a true shepherd as a replacement. May God give them one in line with a former bishop of Rochester, a true shepherd.
And here's a video about that true shepherd. Please pray for Fulton Sheen's cause for canonization and ask his intercession for the restoration of the faith in Rochester.

"Queering" the Church - part III
I've been reflecting lately on how successfully homosexual activists have infiltrated the Church using a "gay" mythology to present their disordered inclination as normal, and, in fact, a civil right. (I've blogged about it here andhere.) Interestingly enough, homosexuals are the ones introducing terms like "queering the Church." If you Google it, the first thing that comes up is the blog of a self-described Catholic with a smorgasbord of pro-homosexual offerings including a list of "queer saints and martyrs." He names both canonized saints and others, like homosexual priests flaunting their "gayness." What exactly gives this man the authority put his personal spin on the lives of the saints or to canonize his favorite gay priests is unclear. But a brief perusal of his site indicates that, while he claims to be Catholic, his "faith" has nothing to do with adhering to the teachings of Christ articulated through the Church. He, like any other protest-ant, is his own pope. Read more here...
An Inspiring Story for Sunday
I remember after Vietnam the incredible disrespect shown for combat veterans who came home to be spat on and called "baby killers." Thank God today's vets are shown the honor and respect they deserve for being willing to place themselves in harm's way. Travis Mills deserves our thanks and may God bless him and his family.

Can You Trust Big Pharma?
Class Says Merck Lied About Mumps Vaccine
Merck also has a number of vaccines developed from babies deliberately aborted. In those cases, parents are urged to choose moral alternatives. Where alternatives are unavailable, but the obligation to vaccinate is crucial (such as rubella), parents should make their objections known and urge the development of morally licit alternatives. Read the Vatican Statement here.
CCHD Continues Funding Liberalism
In fact, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development which promised to mend its ways is now worse than it was twenty years ago. Instead of only 30% funding of Alinskyite groups, it's now over half. My friend, Stephanie Block, who's been exposing CCHD corruption for decades. Stephanie explains how the bishops "charity" is drumming up support for the HHS mandate while the bishops pay lip service to opposition. Remember that old saying, "Put your money where your mouth is?" Well, you can tell what the bishops (or at least their bureaucrats) support by where the money goes and it sure isn't for the defense and expansion of the faith. When will it end? When CCHD is abolished and the bishops conference is completely defunded. Don't give a nickle to CCHD. It resembles the evil organization in C.S. Lewis' That Hideous Strength.

Billy Graham Speaks Out for Chick-fil-A
And he plans to join the "support Chick-fil-A" activity next Wednesday, August 1st. I'll be eating at the Chick-fil-A either in Winchester or Harrisonburg. Want to join me?
BIGGEST NAME IN CHRISTIANITY DEFENDS CHICK-FIL-A.
Lawyers also are coming to the defense of the business saying that public officials are opening themselves up to lawsuits for pledging to punish Chick-fil-A.
“These government officials ought to be ashamed. For a public official to threaten denial of a right to do business because the president of a private company supports natural marriage is the height of stupidity and intolerance,” said Mathew Staver, chief of Liberty Counsel...You know how this started right? Chick-fil-A was the victim of attack for daring to donate food to a conference defending the traditional family. The homosexuals won't tolerate anybody disagreeing with them. Meanwhile, they are backing out of the fray. After all, their purpose is to serve a good meal.
“There is absolutely no evidence that Chick-fil-A has discriminated against anyone,” Staver continued. “The intolerance displayed by these government officials ought to serve as a wakeup call to the majority of Americans who support the commonsense understanding of natural marriage.
“If given the chance, these intolerant officials would silence anyone who supports natural marriage. They have placed extreme ideology over freedom,” Staver said.
“To deny business permits or zoning approvals to Chick-fil-A because the president of the privately owned family business expressed his biblical view of natural marriage is outrageous. Any city trying to ban Chick-fil-A will not win this battle,” Staver said.
More on Catholic Relief Services and the CARE Scandal
Giving $5+ million to CARE and claiming none of the money will help their "other" immoral services is like claiming you can give $5 million to a comprehensive women's clinic for cancer screening without helping promote their abortion services. At the very least you provide them good PR and strengthen their existence. CRS claims they got the go-ahead from the National Catholic Bioethics Center, but it seems the picture is a little murkier. As I've said before -- hold on to your wallet and don't give to any "Catholic" charity that 1) accepts government funding, 2) hires those without a Catholic heart to screen grants, and 3) gives to secular groups with goals diametrically opposed to the Church. We have needy missionaries, for heaven's sake!

"Queering" of the Church Part II
An associate from the other side of the country who asked to be anonymous has also noticed the destruction of the Church from within. Imagine how this betrayal wounded the heart of Christ when he suffered in the garden. He saw the duplicity of the false shepherds and it must have pierced through more heart-rendingly than the spear thrust in his side. Do you live in a diocese like the one my friend describes?
Your post today on the acceptance of homosexuality within the Church resonated. When I first came to [a western] Diocese in 1995, I found it to be very weird -- and I hailed from Mahony Country! The boot of modernist liberalsim has certainly been on the neck of this diocese for decades, but I believe the Diocese is also a homosexualist playground. You wouldn't expect it in a "red" state, but there it is. We don't have "gay Masses" (or at least I've never heard of such), but it seems like every time I turn around, I see a homosexual or fellow traveler or feminist in a position of prominence in either the diocese or parishes. Usually they prefer to work quietly, low-key and behind the scenes, undermining the Faith. But then there was a priest here who, a few years ago, published an article in the [local paper] decrying the Church's teaching on same-sex "marriage." The bishop issued a response announcing his disagreement and basically treating it like a free speech issue. Seems to me yanking this priest from ministry would have been the appropriate response! The same priest followed it up a couple of years later with another article calling for the resignation of Pope Benedict on the grounds that he failed adequately to deal with the sex abuse scandal. Same response from the bishop. I even heard another priest commend this article from the pulpit.
Some attention has got to be paid to backwater dioceses like this one where much damage is being done and nobody notices it.The faith is being systematically lost by those who primarily receive their instruction in their parishes and in dioceses led by either bad or weak bishops. Fr. John Hardon warned that entire dioceses in the U.S. would disappear and we are seeing it happen. Oh...they may still call themselves Catholic, but they are filled with dissent. Only faithful voices can pass on the faith. Flee those who get up and speak against the teachings of the Church. Pray for them, but don't listen to their false teachings. Have the discernment to know the true shepherds from the false. That's the only way to escape the wolves and the prowling lions seeking the ruin of souls.

What Dystopian Literature Can Teach Us
I just finished reading The Hunger Games trilogy and I'll be processing it for awhile. I'm sorry in one way that I pursued an advanced degree in government and management instead of English literature, my true love. Two college course ideas fascinate me: 1) propaganda in literature and film. (Philadelphia was a classic example of gay propaganda and would certainly feature in the course.) and 2) dystopian literature.
Here's an observation about dystopian literature. Check it out by reading:
Sound familiar? We are moving ever more rapidly toward totalitarianism. When Bishop Jenky warned about the historical reality of the attack on religious rights during Hitler's rise to power, he was vilified. But he's absolutely right. The warning signs are everywhere. The gun confiscation from citizens in New Orleans after Katrina. The demonizing and scapegoating of certain groups of people. (In Germany it was the Jews; now it's people of faith and successful businessmen.) The continuous fomenting of mobs like the occupy groups and union thugs. It's happened before.
Sometimes it's hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys which is why I'll stick close the Jesus Christ and his Church. Meanwhile, do you think the liberal young people gobbling up The Hunger Games get it? We're a lot like Panem which is a lot like ancient Rome which is a lot like Hitler's Germany which is a lot like Stalin's Russia which is a lot like Turkish Armenia.

1984 by George Orwell
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
That Hideous Strength by C.S. Lewis
Lord of the World by Hugh Benson
The Hunger Games by Suzanne CollinsAll of the governments are strong centralized regimes that treat their citizens as cogs in their well-oiled machine. Freedom is severely limited. An elite class runs everything. The people are expendable and pragmatism rules. Morality is whatever advances the agenda of the dystopian government.

The "Queering" of the Church
Many, including myself, hoped that the priest sex abuse scandals would put a halt to the "queering of the Church" a homosexual goal. But such does not seem to be the case. Here's one example from a friend in Charlotte via e-mail:
Once again, St. Peter’s Catholic Church in the Diocese of Charlotte will host an annual “Mass of Fellowship and Diversity” tonight, July 25, at 7 PM.
Oh, but it’s OK because they have changed the wording, you see. It is only referred to as a “Mass of Celebration” on their website (which continues)....was established in 1996 by Bishop Emeritus William Curlin, Father Gene McCreesh and Msgr. Richard Allen as part of the Diocese of Charlotte’s outreach to the gay/lesbian community. This year’s Mass will be presided over by Rev. David Brzoska and concelebrated by participating Diocesan priests.
Semantics, my friends. Sin is still sin and last I heard we sought the Sacrament of Reconciliation for sin. We do not “celebrate” sin.
Why is this allowed to continue in our diocese?
A quote from Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen: America, it is said, is suffering from intolerance. It is not. It is suffering from tolerance of right and wrong, truth and error, virtue and evil, Christ and chaos. Our country is not nearly so much overrun with the bigoted as it is overrun with the broadminded . . . In the face of this broadmindedness, what the world needs is intolerance. The Church calls homosexuality a "disordered" attraction, in this case an attraction to the sin of same-sex lust. Like the inclination to any sin, it does not appear to be something to "celebrate." What would you think about a Mass to "celebrate" those inclined to greed with, for example, a Mass for embezzlers? How about celebrating the inclination to "man-boy love" (aka homosexual pedophilia)? Does anyone really think most of those attending the Mass are members of Courage the support group for those with same-sex attraction trying to live chaste lives? Think again. St. Peter's is listed on the website for "gay friendly" churches. This website is clearly talking about church's that welcome the gay lifestyle.
How dare we give lip service to GOD while continuing to be silent in the face of evil?!
So exactly what is going on in Charlotte with this Mass? Simple: it is all about normalizing homosexuality in the Church. And the goal is far advanced! How many Catholics do you know who support gay "marriage" which is an impossibility and a contradiction? Many Catholics are so poorly catechized in the faith they don't have a clue about what the Church teaches and why which offers a perfect opportunity for the homosexual collective.
Fr. Enrique Rueda warned about what was happening back in the 80s with his book The Homosexual Network. In the section on homosexuality and religion (Chapter VI) he wrote:
There is no question that the main stumbling block in the theoretical and practical acceptance of homosexuality by American society has been traditional religion. This has been perfectly understood by the leadership of the homosexual movement. For many years systematic efforts to utilize religion in support of homosexuality have been implemented not only by the founding of religious organizations which cater almost exclusively to homosexuals while purporting to justify their sexual propensities and activities, but also by the establishment of organziations whithin other religious insstitutions for the purpose of using them for the promotion of homosexual ideology. The importance of gaining the support of the churches, or at least neutralizing them, is widely acknowledged by homosexual leaders....Churches, once they have been infiltrated by the homosexual movement, constitute one of its most important allies.Few listened to Fr. Rueda, any more than the bishops listened to other voices warning about homosexual abusers in the priesthood who were moved around and enabled in their vicious assaults on children. In fact, Fr. Rueda, like many prophets, was ostracized and persecuted. Shortly after The Homosexual Network was published he was suspended by Bishop Matthew Clark of Rochester, well known for his promotion of homosexualilty. Clark remains the bishop in Rochester where he continues to advance the homosexual network in the Church. The infiltration of parishes goes on enabled by many false shepherds in sheep's clothing. God forgive the Jesuits committing this scandal and Bishop Jugis for allowing it. (My friend has been fighting this in her parish and diocese for several years, but it's allowed to continue. I decided not to sign her e-mail because retaliation is the most likely result!)

Women Need to Wake Up and Take Back the Culture
Planned Parenthood told us that abortion would make the world a less violent place with "every child a wanted child." No more child abuse, a heaven on earth. Abortion would guarantee a "woman's right to choose" and she and her "partner" would live happily ever after.
Well, apparently not. Some guys just don't want to be daddies and they don't mind administering an abortion themselves and beating up the mom as well. And the article below is not an isolated incident. Here's another and another and a whole bunch of examples of pro-abortion violence.
Two Marines held in Redding attack on pregnant woman
Pope Paul VI warned of grave consequences from contraception and abortion in Humanae Vitae:
Wake up, girls. The reason there are so few good men out there is because you've made them little boys who demand instant gratification. God's plan is for sexual intimacy to forge a bond between husband and wife for the sake of their unity and the protection of their children. Responsibility for a family makes men out of boys. Playing with sexual intimacy, on the other hand, is like playing Russian roulette with all the chambers loaded. You can't help but be hurt! Women can take back the culture if they decide to be whom God meant them to be. Let's pray we take on the job.

Pope Paul VI warned of grave consequences from contraception and abortion in Humanae Vitae:
It is also to be feared that the man, growing used to the employment of anti-conceptive practices, may finally lose respect for the woman and, no longer caring for her physical and pschological equilibrium, may come to the point of considering her as a mere instrument of selfish enjoyment, and no longer as his respected and beloved companion.Sort of an understatement wouldn't you say? I spent about twenty years sidewalk counseling outside abortion mills and I can't count the number of "men" (I use the term loosely.) who dragged their all day suckers into the abortion mills refusing our assistance, snatching our pamphlets out of the women's hands, and saying, "She's made her choice." I got to where I replied, "No, she's made your choice." And then I warned the woman he'd be gone within a few months. Because that's exactly what the statistics show. When a woman has an abortion, she changes. She grieves over her lost baby. But that's "wrong" because the baby isn't supposed to matter. So she's no more fun and her sorrow is a constant reproach to the guy. She clings harder to him because she has so much invested. She's even killed her baby for him. Hey, he wanted no strings and no responsibilities and now she's an albatross around his neck. He's outa there! (There are dads out there, of course, who try to stop abortions, but they have no rights and how does a relationship survive when the woman emasculates the one who is supposed to protect his family especially the most helpless member?)

Gun Control Back on the Front Burner after Colorado Killings
The call is on for more gun control after the shooting at the Colorado movie theater. I came across an interesting article today about the U.N. model which calls for disarming everybody except law enforcement. (Forget that if somebody had been armed in that theater, the killer might have been the one dead instead of his victims.) At any rate, the article discusses the Rwanda massacre. Before it took place the citizens were systematically disarmed. (That really helped, didn't it as the machetes came out?) The U.N. was complicit in the massacre when they refused to provide protection to a high level official who revealed that lists of Tutsis were being developed for extermination, and, beyond belief, the U.N. ordered the information gained from the informant be turned over to the Hutu government which was plotting the killing! (Well, hey, think of the population control benefits of that mass genocide. Millions fewer "people of color" on the planet!) Here are the closing paragraphs of the article which I urge you to read in toto:
UN spokesman Fred Eckhard told the September 25, 1997 Washington Post that while direct action against the arms caches was ruled out, one option discussed within the peacekeeping directorate was having the peacekeepers form "a cordon sanitaire [barricade] around the area of the operations while the government went in" and seized the weapons — once again, a plan which made absolutely no sense in light of the established genocidal intent of that very government. In any case, the instructions issued by the head of the UN peacekeeping division, which were shared with the Hutu government, were little short of a green light for genocide. The official who gave the go-ahead signal is Kofi Annan, who was later appointed UN secretary-general, a post he presently holds.
Belgian Senator Alain Destexhe was left incredulous by the UN's complicity in the Rwandan holocaust. The UN's decision to betray the Hutu defector, share his intelligence with the Hutu regime, and disavow any intention of preventing the slaughter was "like informing a terrorist that you know he's preparing his terrorism and assuring him you're not going to do anything about it," complained Destexhe. Can it happen here? Are you kidding?

But this is pretty horrifying both from the perspective of using children like chimney sweeps from young ages and then forcing women to have abortions or face the consequences. Pray for all those trapped in the Church of Scientology to have the courage and the awakening to get out!

Planned Parenthood Kills Another Woman
Ah "safe, legal abortion" is such a blessing! Except for the dead women who bleed to death through the negligence of abortionists who are quick to abort but slow to deal with complications.

A Tale of Two Massacres and the Hypocrisy Surrounding Them
The Aurora, Colorado movie massacre is all over the TV today. Everybody in the country at this point must know that twelve were killed at the scene (two more have died in the hospital) and about fifty wounded. The bishop of Denver has released a message expressing grief and offering counseling through Catholic Charities. But why should anyone be surprised at escalating violence in our country? After all, there's an abortion mill right down the road in Aurora where innocents (including late-term babies) are murdered every day and who cares? Why do the actions of the crazy killer shock the entire country, but the abortionist down the road whose daily death toll may equal or even exceed the movie theater murders remain a respected member of the community?
The hand-wringing of the media is especially galling to me. Whenever I see the crocodile tears of these hypocrites I think of the excitement behind the scenes as they tot up the impact of such a "good story" on their ratings. These are the same folks who carry water for Planned Parenthood and twirl like dervishes to put the politically correct stamp on their liberal spin. They camp out on the doorsteps of the victims' families to cash in on the human interest angle and keep the story going. Oh how they care! Just think...a Pulitzer may be in their futures. I can't even watch the news today.
When a country sows the wind, it reaps the whirlwind. And the whirlwind doesn't measure the guilt or innocence of those in its path. I'm praying my rosary today for all those caught up in the whirlwind in Colorado and asking St. Michael the Archangel to protect us all from random violence. And may God have mercy on the killer.

When Can You Take Credit for Your Accomplishments?
Here's what Obama said in context that created such a stir:
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen....The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.Well, duh! If you didn't know how to read, you might have trouble building a skyscraper. Nevertheless to say "If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen" is absolutely ridiculous! I know some small business owners who had the guts to step out on their own, confident of their own abilities, to do something. They risked their money, invested countless hours, and sank tremendous amounts of energy and perseverance to reach for a dream. MOST PEOPLE DON'T DO THAT! They get a job and work for others. The comparison to fighting fires is comparing apples to oranges. A man who thinks up something radically new, patents it, and brings it into production should get the credit for his work. Somebody who has a skill and has the guts to start a business to sell it, should get the credit. Sure, teachers taught him to read and introduced him to the science, but he still did the thing himself perhaps with the support of family and friends. Obama's statement that "somebody else made that happen" (government perhaps?) is typical of the liberal mentality where we are all seen as cogs in a socialist machine rather than as individuals. Entrepreneurs who succeed (and make money at it) are evil victimizers of the poor who must be controlled by the government. The episode reminds me of the spoof about the Little Red Hen.
Funny, though, how liberals, who denigrate and reduce the work of others to a collective accomplishment are so quick to claim the actions of others as their own. We all know that Al Gore invented the Internet and that Obama killed Bin Laden. Right? Yeah...right.

In View of the Latest Catholic Relief Services Scandal...
....a look back:
The hellish partnership continues. As the saying goes...the more things change, the more they stay the same...at least at Catholic Relief Services...and Catholic Charities...and CCHD of course. They all take your money and use it to advance the culture of death. Sad, isn't it? The shepherds are like the pigs in Animal Farm who end up colluding with the enemy. Pray for the U.S. bishops. They have a lot for which to answer.
Another Expose from Project Veritas -- A Hole is to Dig!
This is so ridiculous it looks like a spoof, but it's for real. The union bosses are telling these guys how to get funding for digging holes and filling them back up. Your tax dollars at work! Hey, it's just like "Green Jobs New York" they say and they've got the lobbyists to get the grants. These union guys must have read the book A Hole is to Dig when they were kids.
What Brought the Church in America to its Deplorable State?
Silence on contraception. If Humanae Vitae had been proclaimed loud and clear from its release in 1968 we would not be battling on all these other fronts today. And if the bishops had been committed to preaching the truth on contraception, they would never have funded all these evil groups that are in bed with the family planners. We would not be seeing headlines like this:
The U.S. bishops damage control apparatus is in high speed trying to explain away this latest abomination, but they can't. The fact is that CRS has a long history of supporting contraception. Catholic World Report did an expose by Germain Grisez in 2008 about their condom promotion and tainted AIDS education project working again with "partners" who are adamantly opposed to the Church.
Jon Merrill who has worked in humanitarian programs in Africa is highly critical of CRS and its entanglement with government that leads to funding moral evils. Here's what he wrote in a February article on SperoForum.com:
I have worked on and off in Africa, for “humanitarian” organizations, for some thirty years, during both Republican and Democratic administrations, and I have not seen that the U.S. Government’s efforts to promote the sexual revolution – with the willing cooperation of the U.S. bishops’ own overseas “humanitarian” organization, and of other “Christian” subcontractors – has varied much in intensity over those years. The “foreign aid” agencies of both the U.S. federal government and the USCCB (the latter a contractor of the former) are both “owned” and staffed by either secularists, or by fellow-traveling-sexual-revolutionist “Catholics” and other vaguely “faith-motivated” types. Regardless of the particular ideology of the sitting president or of the very-theoretical anti-sexual-revolution stance of the bishops, those agencies find ways to effectively advance the sexual revolution. Personnel is policy. In view of the serious problem with their international relief programs, is it any wonder the bishops' domestic "charity" program, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), is so bad? The only way this will end is for a new Catholic charity to form that 1) takes no government money, 2) hires real Catholics to run it, and 3) funds ONLY Catholic groups that are totally committed to the teachings of the Church. There are so many Catholic missionaries around the world, why should we be funding secular groups anyway? Isn't the most important thing we have to share our faith?
Gay Pride Parades Get Recruits
San Francisco Gay Pride |
My dad, a Pearl Harbor survivor, must be rolling over in his grave! Is this what he fought for in World War II? Now, not only will gay pride parades feature mostly nude men and women, cross dressers in garish makeup and high heels, floats featuring giant condoms and hip-thrusting obscenities, but....men and women IN UNIFORM? Wow! Not that the military haven't been participating in the parades in various states of dress and undress, but now.... Well, suffice it say, I think my dad would have resigned his commission rather than condone and carry out this policy. (His last duty was as Commander of the Naval Electronics Systems Command. Somehow I can't see him signing off for his officers and enlisted to strut their stuff in uniform.) But this new policy will no doubt do a lot for recruitment -- at least gay recruitment anyway. Whether it helps military readiness is another question that hasn't really been tested. Is the military really the place to experiment with social engineering?
Today at Liberal Logic 101......
......they are featuring endangered species. Liberals have no idea that eliminating unborn children has a big impact on your society. For example, Europe is a continent of disappearing Europeans. Every country has a lower population of native citizens than twenty years ago. Population is only being kept up in some countries by immigration. When I was in Spain fifteen years ago there were few adults with children. According to the demographics it's the same across Europe. We aren't doing so well in the U.S. either. Without the invasion from the south we also would be losing population.

Ah...the Hypocrites at Catholics United
They never met a democratic pro-abort they didn't worship. Obama and Sebelius are icons of their liberal religion. But oh how they wax eloquent in going after Mitt Romney for acts against life. What hypocrites! As one who is undecided on whether to vote for either Tweedle Dum or Tweedle Dee, I certainly can recognize unabashed hypocrisy when I see it. The only thing Catholics United can be depended upon is to advance the liberal agenda no matter how many twists and turns it requires. Re-electing their God Obama is the top priority and if they have to turn themselves inside out to do it, they will pursue that end. And, by the way, when is a Catholic bishop going to show the same zeal for forbidding faux Catholic dissent groups like Catholics United and Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good from using the name Catholic as the Archdiocese of Detroit did in going after orthodox Real Catholic TV? Anyone? Anyone?

Tensions Escalating in the Middle East
While violence in Syria continues to escalate, the situation with Iran is also deteriorating.
But who knows what will actually happen as the heat is turned up in the Middle East. If Iran tries to close the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil shipping lane, tensions will rise even higher and Iran has warned us to stay out of it or else. We may think because we are so far away, these things don't affect us. Look at history. And see how closely connected we are to Israel. The neo-cons will agitate for action to support Israel in case of an Israel/Iran confrontation. If we are sucked into another major war you will see the draft restored overnight and our daughters and granddaughters will be drafted along with our sons. It they aren't there will be an instant lawsuit demanding "equal treatment.
I'm sure no expert on foreign affairs, but I can read the signs of the times and they are anything but encouraging. Pray the rosary daily for peace. Remember that when the bomb dropped on Hiroshima one of the only places left standing was a house eight blocks from the blast zone. Eight Jesuit missionaries were living the Fatima message there praying the rosary together daily. The house survived intact while the Church next door was demolished. The missionaries' survival and subsequent lives without any evidence of radiation sickness or other bomb-related illnesses is considered the "rosary miracle of Hiroshima."
Please live Our Lady of Fatima's requests in your home. Pray the rosary daily for peace. Foster devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Make the First Saturday devotion perpetually in reparation for sins and outrages against Mary. Today's Mass readings remind us that God is faithful to His people. Psalm 94 assures us that "the Lord will not cast off his people, nor abandon his inheritance." Matthew's gospel urges us to be "childlike" in our trust. No matter how dark the night Jesus is the light of the world and His name means "God saves."
Our Lady of Fatima, intercede for us. Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
The suicide assassination of top officials in Syria reminds me of the trigger point for World War I, the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife. God help us, people need to seriously pray and fast for peace. As the Blessed Mother so clearly pointed out at Fatima and, as Blessed Mother Teresa often said, war is a punishment for sin. If you kill the baby in the womb what is left for us to do to one another? The administration says they won't intervene until after the election.

Media Collusion to Protect Obama: ACORN Whistleblower Exposes Corruption
Wow! You need to watch this ex-ACORN whistleblower tell her story. From leftist liberal to ex-liberal. She saw that "all that racism was coming from the left!" After speaking at C-PAC she got a message on her blog that said, "I never saw a coon at a Klan party until I saw you at C-PAC." If a black dares to escape the liberal plantation, he's attacked and vilified. It has happened to every black conservative. They tried a "high tech lynching" with Clarence Thomas. They attack any black conservative like the brilliant Thomas Sowell as an Uncle Tom, and this impressive lady is described as a "coon." What a hateful statement from the "tolerant" crowd. Well, truth be told, the liberal mindset is intolerant and racist. The only good black to them is one that can be manipulated by white elitists. Anita MonCrief won't play that game anymore. I think you'll like this articulate young woman. Watch the videos below and check out her website. She's a breath of fresh air.
Are You Paying Attention to Syria?
Better be on your knees over world events. The violence in Syria offers a frightening scenario for the start of World War III if the superpowers get involved. China and Russia are mobilizing to help Iran if the U.S. intervenes to prevent Iran from assisting Syria. And Israel is in the middle of this powderkeg with nuclear weapons at the ready. This kind of instability is an invitation to jihadist terrorists.
Ah...doesn't it make you feel safe and secure knowing we have such an experienced and intelligent president at the helm with all of this going on. I am so comfortable knowing that Hillary is entrenched at the Department of State with her little cookstove project to do her part against global warming.
Think I'll put on the armor of God and pray my rosary for world peace, especially for the poor civilians caught in the crossfire. Our Lady, Queen of Peace, pray for us.

The Brave New World Where Murder is a Game
Why isn't this getting the same kind of coverage as Trayvon Martin? Has Obama called the family or come out publicly expressing his concern over this cold-blooded murder by a group of teens? This happened in his old stomping ground after all. If Obama had a son would he look like one of Mora's six sons or like one of the assailants? Now that we all have the hope and change Obama promised why aren't we all living in racial harmony? Seems these days the lives of some are more important than others, especially based on whether events can be used for political points. I want to know where the hordes are calling for justice for this father of twelve? Where are the rallies? Where is the outrage? Where is the liberal press fomenting the crowds to demand justice? The Huffington Post put up the AP story without comment. I guess the attitude is "boys will be boys." One old Mexican dude just isn't worth the newsprint. Well, it's early yet. Maybe the Chicago rally to City Hall will be next week after the funeral.

Should This Make Us Nervous?
Taiwan Aims Missiles at China
Update: According to Donal Foley, Akita is controversial. I thought it was among the approved apparition sites, but apparently the Vatican has never given approval, which, I guess, puts it in the same category as Medjugroje. Go here for more.
The first thing I thought of when I read this was the scenario that began World War II. Great Britain stayed out of things until Hitler invaded Poland, their ally. Hitler's invasion of Poland marks the first armed attack of the war in Europe and his blitzkrieg defeated the nation within hours. A mounted horse cavalry was hardly an effective deterrent to Nazi tanks.
Well, we have an agreement to defend our ally Taiwan in case of attack by Beijing which continues to aim at reunification of the island nation with mainland China. What will happen if China attacks Taiwan? Not a happy thought is it. But Mother Teresa predicted that the fruit of abortion would be WW III. I see no indications that the countries of the world are becoming more moral. In fact, comparing our behavior to the end of WW II, we are more depraved in every area and in every one of the seven deadly sins. This is surely a time to listen to the Blessed Mother's call for repentance and penance. The messages of Akita should send all Christians to their knees.
The Blessed Mother gave us this prayer during her apparitions. Please pray it every day:

Please defend and protect me as Thy special child. Amen

Dead Dogs for Obama
You gotta read it to believe it. My dog Shaley died a few years ago. I never thought to register her to vote. But now my eyes are opened. She would have made a good Republican. She was a border collie and a hard worker who spent her days trying to corral the kids.
As for voter ID being discriminatory that is such patent nonsense. If somebody under 35 buys beer at the grocery, he is ID'd. When I went to the doctor's for my annual physical I had to present an ID. If I drive, I have to carry my driver's license ID whenever I'm behind the wheel. To fly on a commercial airline I have to present an ID. We hear all kinds of talk about security. Isn't securing the integrity of the vote important?
I have no intention of registering my dead dog to vote. But I have no doubt that some of our "honest" politicians would happily register dead dogs, dead people, and cartoon characters if it would help them win the election. (Just see what ACORN was up to.) Despite his words, Obama has shown himself to be among the least transparent and most venal politicians in history. We better be sure somebody is minding the store in November to keep the dogs at bay.

Will Pawlenty be Romney's Veep?
It's looking like either Tim Pawlenty or Bobby Jindal will be Romney's pick for veep. The fact that both have strong pro-life records indicates that Romney recognizes his serious problem with pro-lifers. Picking a strong pro-life vice president may mean the difference between many pro-lifers sitting out the election or holding their noses on Romney and voting for the pro-lifer on the ticket. Romney is expected to announce his veep pick this week. Either one will look like genius compared to Joe Biden. Can't wait for the debate with the man who didn't know who was president when the stock market crashed in 1929 and said President Roosevelt (who wasn't the president) "got on television" which wasn't available in the public market until ten years later, and not commonly available in American households until the early 50s. I remember listening to radio broadcasts of Tweetie and Sylvester and we didn't have TV until I was five or six. Joe Biden is five years older than I am so he surely should remember there was no television in 1929. But maybe he suffers from early onset senility (well, not so early) as well as foot-in-mouth disease. Can anybody imagine him as U.S. president? The thought makes me ROTFL but maybe ROTFC would be more appropriate.

Is Bankruptcy on the Horizon for Your City?
Salad Days of the Public Sector are Over
I confess I'm a little worried about my own local town. The screwballs on the County Board of Supervisors think the taxpayers are a money tree. First they expanded the sewage treatment plant which was sensible at the time because of the housing boom. It looked like Woodstock would be booming along with it. When the housing market collapsed we were left with a plant ready to handle triple or more the number of homes currently in the area, while the expansion plans disappeared overnight.
Then the county took an old Safeway building purchased over a decade ago and turned it into a massive human services building. Every time I go by I shake my head. There are 40,000 people in the county. That building should house the entire county government with room to spare. But there's a huge county building right across the street -- and more town offices a few blocks away. How much governing do 40,000 people need?
Last year the county bought property to expand the school system which a study showed we didn't need. Another study showed we didn't need a regional jail even the sheriff opposed, but that didn't keep the supervisors from committing one third of the funding from our county. Did the sheriff's opposition make a whit of difference to these porkers on the board? Heck no! They think they live in Fairfax and appear committed to growing the government exponentially.
Oh, did I mention the new courthouse? It's a huge multi-million brick building with two, count em, courtrooms. We already have a historical old courthouse and additional courtrooms adjacent to the jail. When my husband was called up for jury duty he never had to go. Apparently Woodstock doesn't have many jury trials. Well, maybe we can get more folks to commit crimes so the new courthouse will be better used. Oh...and the regional jail is in Front Royal about 30 miles away (Thank God it's not in Woodstock!) so the sheriff will have the expense of going to Front Royal to pick up criminals for trial, transport them to court in Woodstock, and drive them back again. What a great use of taxpayers money and the time of the sheriffs deputies.
I suspect that next election most of the supervisors will be booted over their irresponsible and expensive decisions. I certainly hope so. Give me a housewife or a janitor with common sense who knows how to balance a budget any day over the current board.

Did You Know About This Millstone (Oops...milestone)?
Did you know that June was gay pride month at the Pentagon? For the first time in its history, the U.S. military celebrated the disordered attachment of same sex lust among those serving in the armed forces. Leon Panetta made a video celebrating "diversity" and the repeal of "Don't ask, don't tell." Panetta's address helps advance the lie that homosexual attractions is a civil rights issue of "equality."
The homosexual agenda isn't about equality for all; it's about special privileges for the few. When has the Department of Defense ever celebrated its Catholic members? Traditionally, Catholics have made up about 30% of the armed forces. Let's take a look at these two "diverse" groups.
Panetta celebrates the "diversity" and open proclamation for those who are so deluded they pretend the rectum is a vagina. Letting them openly proclaim their disordered inclinations is cause for celebration and shows respect for their integrity. Wow!
There's no celebration for the "diversity" of Catholics in the military who believe, like all ethical believers for thousands of years, that marriage and the traditional family are the basis of every healthy society. No, Panetta has no praise for their "integrity" -- just the opposite in fact. While the homosexuals have thrown open the closet and are welcome to celebrate their depraved sexual expression, Catholics and other people of faith are being silenced. Not only are they being warned not to criticize the new, politically correct policy, but some are being told not to mention Jesus. "Get in line or resign," one was told! Can you imagine what will happen in the future to any serviceman sexually harassed by a homosexual? The troops have been warned not to engage in sexual harassment of gays. But for gays harassing straight servicemen - no warning for them. And yet the increase in assaults by homosexuals is alarming. How many servicemen will think twice before reporting an assault by a homosexual? Remember how female rape victims were treated in the past? Men have even more reason to be ashamed and embarrassed not to mention worried that by coming forward they will be seen as the problem because it casts doubt on the policies now in force.
No one can predict what this insanity will do to the military over the next decade and more. One thing is for sure, however. Making the military a social engineering experiment is not likely to improve military readiness. What happened to Israel in the Old Testament (being overcome by her neighboring enemies) looks like our future. Maybe we should all enroll in foreign language classes. Take your pick: Chinese, Russian, or Arabic.
One last point: Do you think it's an accident that the administration chose June to establish this "gay pride" abomination? June is the month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, that heart that suffered over the sins of mankind including the depraved sins of homosexual lust. The devil may have been snickering over such a "victory" but, in reality, the timing emphasizes the love and mercy of Jesus for all who are enslaved by the evil one. We all need to offer prayers of reparation to the Sacred Heart and make sacrifices to save poor sinners before they fall "like snowflakes" into the everlasting fire of hell.
Remember the three little shepherds of Fatima who carried the message of repentance to the world. Let us make Jacinta's plaintive cry our own. "We must pray very much, to save souls from hell! So many go there, so many!...Why doesn't Our Lady show hell to sinners? If they saw it, they would not sin so as to avoid going there. I'm so sorry for sinners! If only I could show them hell."
Heavenly Father, give us the gift of fear of the Lord that we might, if not for love, stop sinning out of fear of eternal punishment.

What Women Really Need
Melinda Gates says she wants to help women. Yeah...like Hugh Hefner of the Playboy Foundation. Give women contraceptives and partner with abortionists who recycle them so they can always be available as bunnies, playthings, tarts, and pacifiers for little boys who are happy to enjoy the benefits of the sexual revolution with none of the responsibilities of adulthood. How does that build a culture of respect for women. All it does is create disillusionment, despair and the question, "Where have all the good men gone?"
Visit HLI's Factsheet on Melinda Gates and pray for her conversion. Pumping women full of drugs with abortion as a backup is not helping build a culture of respect and justice for women. It's this kind of strategy that has trained men to be little boys drooling over their all day suckers.
The Running Nun Tells Why LCWR Doesn't Represent Her!
Go, Sister, go! One of the running nuns keeps the pace in the 2011 Labor Day 5K. |
What did the Holy See actually say to the LCWR?
Recently the Office of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith issued a statement entitled, Doctrinal Assessment of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious. (All quotations are taken directly from this 8 page document). Many people in the United States have mistakenly regarded this document as disparaging to women religious. Actually the contrary is true; the document praises the legitimate contributions of women religious over the years: “The Holy See acknowledges with gratitude the great contribution of women Religious to the Church in the United States as seen particularly in the many schools, hospitals, and institutions of support for the poor which have been founded and staffed by Religious over the years.”
At the same time as the Holy See praises these legitimate accomplishments it rightfully criticizes destructive aberrations in authentic religious life that have developed in and through the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR). (The LCWR was founded at the encouragement of the Vatican in 1956 to be the official representative body of women religious in the United States). Here are some of the LCWR errors which this document from the Vatican addresses:
1. There has been “a diminution of the fundamental Christological center and focus of religious consecration which leads, in turn, to a loss of a ‘constant and lively sense of the Church’ among some Religious.”
2. Speakers have been allowed to promote destructive teachings such as
How Rich Countries Hurt the Poor and Persecute Their Own Citizens
Keep in mind as you read this that it is ALL ABOUT GOVERNMENT CONTROL.
I was just reading an article by Martin Kohr about Rio 20 and international food policies that damage poor farmers in the developing world. It made me realize how little the average man in the street (Hey, that includes me!) knows about our food policies and their impact. This is what made my ears prick:

Fr. Guarnizo Gets the Boot from Archdiocese of Washington
A CNA story has the update on Fr. Guarnizo's relationship with the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. Well, Cardinal Wuerl has a reputation for coddling the gay cabal and this episode indicates nothing's changed since his days in Pittsburgh. Shame on him and may God bless Fr. Guarnizo. Let's all pray for him. God promises that all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and serve according to His purpose. I claim that promise for Father. As for Cardinal Wuerl, his action makes it likely the gays will go after other good priests. Meanwhile, Barbara Johnson is the sweetheart of the local lavendar lobby. How do you suppose that will play on Judgment Day? What do you suppose God thinks about the action of a woman who destroys the ministry of one of His Sons because he attempted to protect the Body and Blood of Christ from sacrilege? I think on that great and terrible day I'd rather be Fr. Guarnizo than either Barbara Johnson or Cardinal Wuerl.
Anger: The Misunderstood Virtue
I recently listened to a CD on anger by a Catholic deacon who is also a psychiatrist, or perhaps a psychologist, I don't recall which now. I found his presentation confusing and, while much was worthwhile, I disagreed with some of the points he made. He never defined his terms well. He seemed to lump all anger under the umbrella of sinful anger. He seemed to define righteous anger (he never used the term) as "indignation." And, in fact, condemned a pro-life pamphlet justifying anger against abortion which, frankly, aroused my indignation. I thought his comments were unjust and off-target and that the pro-life group was describing righteous anger that leads to action against the evil of abortion.
When I think of the murder of unborn children, indignation just doesn't cut it. Is slicing and dicing babies not a cause for anger if anything is? What arouses me to the desire to fight that injustice is hatred of its evil and anger over the murder of the innocent. Yes, anger is exactly what we should experience over such an evil and that anger should spur us to do something about it!

The Train Wreck is Coming - Pray for Cardinal Dolan
New York City is on the way to electing an out and proud "Catholic" lesbian for mayor, one who is, incidentally, "married" to her lesbian lover. The showdown is a-comin' and this lady has already thrown down the gauntlet. No one can tell her what she can or can't do in "HER church!" (which certainly is NOT the Holy Catholic Church founded by Jesus Christ).
Let's pray Cardinal Dolan has the fortitude to meet the challenge head on. While I'm on retreat this week I am praying for him to, like Jesus, say, "Zeal for [God's] house consumes me." I'm also praying for Christine Quinn, the likely mayor who is on the fast track to hell unless she repents. Her scandal is so broad that the millstone awaiting her is a heavy one.
Jesus is separating the sheep from the goats. Where will Church leaders in the U.S. line up? At this point, it's fidelity and persecution or schism and persecution. Take your pick. Any Catholic who believes he will be dodge the bullet by following the politically correct path is naive. Useful dupes will be tolerated until they are no longer needed. Then they will follow the faithful to the rack. Pray for the courage to suffer well.

Homosexuality Destroys Civilizations
Fr. John Hardon warned that a culture that accepts homosexuality as a norm is a culture in its death throes. And so we are. In half a century homosexuality moved from universal societal condemnation to, not only, tolerance, but wholehearted approval. How did that happen? You can read a brief history here. Those who oppose homosexuality are vilified and attacked both by the media and in lawsuits. Pastor Scott Lively who ministers to homosexuals at a coffee house in New York faces a Soros-funded lawsuit, part of the latest homosexual tactic to destroy its opposition. Expensive frivolous lawsuits, "jamming" anyone who dares to call perverted behavior what it is - these are only two of the many tactics used to silence and punish opponents. Scott Lively exhibits the courage to fight the corruption of homosexuality. He is one of the few. This type of courage is almost invisible among our Catholic clergy. Here's a short video, but for a more in-depth examination go here and here.
Watch a speech by Scott Lively on the global threat of homosexuality here. Please pray for him. The fact is that a culture that embraces homosexual activity destroys itself, but nobody wants to say it. Our Catholic bishops should be in the forefront fighting this instead of coddling it like Archbishop Donald Wuerl

Retreating Today on a Journey to the Truth
Every spiritual retreat is a journey to the truth. I start a five-day silent Ignatian retreat today. What an opportunity to reflect on the truth or rather on THE TRUTH who is Christ Himself. I look forward to the next five days of prayer and meditation using the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Any posts you see during this time were scheduled in the last few days before I left. And, obviously, I won't be moderating any comments during this time. What I will be doing is praying for all those who visit my website and blog, all my family and friends and all those who have touched my life thus far. What a host of people come to mind (both friend and foe) when I consider that list. I will be bringing you all (living or dead) on retreat with me, asking God's particular blessing on you. May he bring us all merrily to heaven on the last day. God love you, as my mother used to say. He does, you know.
A Thought for Sunday: Our Christian Nation
Thanks, Stuart Shephard, for this beautiful Sunday Meditation. I'll take it with me on retreat and think of it every time I make the sign of the cross. Yes, Mr. President, we are a Christian nation, defined so by our founders and confirmed by all their actions.
"America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea."
We are endowed by God, not you, Mr. President, with unalienable rights among which are LIFE and LIBERTY. The pursuit of happiness is restricted by law and lies within the bounds of morality.
"America, America, God mend thine every flaw; confirm thy soul in self control, they liberty in law.
Officer's Oath: The Lt. Col. Terry Lakin Story
He went to jail for refusing to defile his oath to uphold the Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic. All he asked was that President Obama do the same thing every military recruit is asked to do -- provide a birth certificate. Terry Lakin and Barack Obama: a man of honor vs. a man of lies.
I look forward to reading Dr. Lakin's story. He deserved better than the persecution he received from a military that has been hopelessly politicized.

One More Reason Episcopalians are Coming Home to Rome
And a warm welcome to these brothers and sisters who are closer to the one, holy, Catholic Church than some of our clergy and bishops.
U.S. Episcopalians move closer to allowing transgender ministers

When the Lord returns will He find any faithful in the Episcopal Church, especially ECUSA? Not likely! How many faithful will He find among Roman Catholics? At least a remnant.
