When Heretics Rage

The American Catholic Council (ACC), a dissent group made up of folks from Call to Action, Women's Ordination Council, Voice of the Faithful, Dignity, and an assortment of other disgruntled cafeteria Catholics sent out a press release today. They should have waited until tomorrow since it seems so much like an April Fool's joke.

The release calls for a "day of prayer and fasting" on April 15 (tax day -- was that on purpose?) for their upcoming dissent fest in Detroit on Pentecost weekend. To whom are they praying one might well ask since what they call the "spirit of Vatican II" is actually the spirit of the world. Now who is the spirit of the world, eh? The same evil one who tempted Jesus in the desert.

And evil is exactly what is being perpetrated by ACC under the false teaching of the "spirit of Vatican II." The new translation of the Roman missal is a correction of one of those evils that saw liberals in ICEL (International Commision on English in the Liturgy) watering down the truths of the faith with bad translations that turned the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass into a community supper complete with folk groups and rock and roll bands.

Despite the corrections going on, the grey-haired dissenters are determined to resurrect the dissenting "spirit of Vatican II" to finish the job begun by Martin Luther, Calvin, and the other revolutionaries who wanted a human institution fashioned in the image and likeness of man. We've seen what that dissenting spirit accomplished: downgrading the Blessed Mother, throwing out Latin, implementing a wide range of banal songs for the pray and sway crowd. Perhaps the most egregious evil was raising uninformed individual conscience to the level of papal infallibility: every little heretic a pope in the pew! The rebellious  "spirit of Vatican II" is still clearly evident in the blather of these aging cafeteria Catholics who pick and choose the doctrines they like and throw out all the rest. Who is Jesus Christ to tell them what to do anyway? They will continue to do all they can to impose their immorality on the body of Christ.

Among the breakout sessions at ACC is one that explores, among other things, the "experience of women Roman Catholic Priests" (There is no such thing.) and the "experience of CORPUS married Catholic priests." CORPUS is a dissent group of renegade priests with no standing in the Church who left to marry, but want to have their cake and eat it too. Many rent themselves out for weddings and baptisms which are not recognized or recorded by the Church. Their list of concerns is the same old dissent from the 70s Call to Action meeting -- deja vu all over again.

A number of bishops have condemned ACC and we echo their voices. The "spirit of Vatican II" is like the evil spirits who invaded the Freeling home in the film, Poltergeist, and the dissenters are the fellow travellers who want to open the door and let them in.

So, by all means, faithful Catholics, pray and fast on April 15. Make your intention the exorcism of the American Catholic Council and the conversion of those participating in it.

Abercrombie and Fitch Sells "Push Up" Bikini Tops for 7-Year-Olds

See the YouTube video here.

If you are Catholic and shop at Abercrombie and Fitch (A&F) you need to review the Fatima message where Mary talked about clothing that would come into fashion that would offend her Son very much.  A&F needs to feel the pain of losing customers over their sexualizing little girls (and everyone else). Doesn't it make you wonder if the execs at A&F are pedophiles? What's with making seven and eight year olds sex objects? What's with making everybody sex objects for that matter whether the sex being promoted is heterosexual sex, homosexual sex, group sex, etc.. A&F might as well advertise with the Planned Parenthood cartoon that shows a young boy imagining sex with Mom, Dad, sister, brother, and the family dog.

If you love your children boycott A&F. And while you're at it, Victoria's Secret is another store that deserves two thumbs down. Don't let your shopping choices endanger your soul.

Cecile Richards, Head of Planned Parenthood, Lies About Mammograms: Defund the Monster

Cecelia Richards, head of Planned Parenthood, claimed millions of women would lose their access to basic health care including "mammograms" if PP was defunded. Liar, liar, pants on fire! PP doesn't do breast screenings or provide mammograms. They are in the business of 1) doing abortions, 2) prescribing abortifacient birth control via computer where a doctor is not even on site, 3) offering vicious sex ed programs that teach kids about all things sexy including "outercourse" (ways to have orgasms outside the body), etc. ad nauseum.

Now isn't it interesting that the mainstream media is NOT exposing PP. Leave it to the college age volunteers at Live Action!

Defund Planned Parenthood!

Cannibalizing Babies to Test Food Flavorings?

Major Food Chains Using Cells From Aborted Babies

The English were outraged to read Jonathan Swift's "Modest Proposal" about solving the starvation in Ireland by having the Irish eat their babies. There's no satire here. In America today pro-abortion pragmatists think using stem lines from murdered children to test food flavors is perfectly fine. Dr. Mengele, call your office!

Obamacare Dictates Doctors' Treatment of Their Patients

Obamacare adds $85 million to Medicaid by reducing Medicare just as baby boomers are reaching 65. This means rationing of treatment to elderly like joint replacements, angioplasty, and cataract surgery. Watch this video which is a real eye-opener! A woman in America diagnosed with breast cancer has a 90% chance of survival compared to 80% in Europe. One in four men diagnosed with prostate cancer outside the U.S. die from it. Ninety-nine percent in the U.S. survive. Obamacare will eviscerate the U.S. health system.

If Obamacare is so great, why all the waivers?

This video is from last Fall. Since then over a thousand waivers have been issues from the wonderful universal health care plan called Obamacare. Entire states are getting waivers (Maine has its waiver. New Hampshire, Nebraska, and Kentucky have applied.) Wasn't this supposed to be the magic bullet for everybody? Interestingly many of the groups getting waivers are Obama supporters -- lots of unions. Maybe Obamacare isn't so great after all and maybe, just maybe people should stop drinking the liberal Kool-Aid!

GOP Blasts Hypocritical Union Waivers in Obamacare:
In an exclusive interview, constitutional scholar and patient advocate Betsy McCaughey tells Newsmax.TV: “The key issue is that under our system of government, the law is supposed to apply equally to everyone. But unfortunately, the Obama administration is moving in the totalitarian direction: It’s who you know, rather than whether you are duty-bound to obey the law.

Obamacare Waivers Go To Allies:
Essentially, the administration is exempting its financial supporters from some of the more burdensome provisions of the healthcare reform law, which President Obama touts as a “new set of rules that treats everybody honestly and treats everybody fairly.” Political appointees at the Department of Health and Human Services decide which companies are off the hook and Americans are being kept in the dark.
Obamacare Waiver List Continues To Grow:
The Obamacare waiver list keeps growing. At what point do we call it what it is (a joke)? I thought we absolutely had to have Obamacare. Wasn’t that the big sales pitch? If that’s the case then why in the world are they letting so many groups/unions get out of it? If I could answer that then I guess I could figure out liberal logic.

Bedtime Question: Do Liberals Lie on Purpose?

I've been reflecting on this tonight. Do liberals lie on purpose? Some liberals I know are such moral relativists that by dinner they've changed the position they held at breakfast. A liberal will claim to believe in individual rights, and argue two minutes later against the rights of individuals with whom he happens to disagree. Actually, I have some relatives like that. You have a conversation and the very next day have another that is completely at odds with the first. So do liberals lie? Or are they so "broad minded" that they can actually hold numerous contrary opinions all at the same time?

Now that I think about it isn't that a sign of mental illness? Maybe liberals aren't liars, they're certifiable. What do you think?

George Soros, the Mother Teresa of the Liberal Left

I just listened to an hour long 2006 interview of George Soros by Google CEO Eric Schmidt. What a bunch of horse manure! You would think Soros was the world's greatest philanthropist investing his money to create an "open society" where justice and freedom rule. Of course while Soros was talking about protecting the innocent, etc. Schmidt didn't ask how much he made off the collapse of the British pound and what that economic disaster did to the savings of little guys in England. No, Soros is the hero of the left (and Google lists heavily to the left) who only thinks about the good of others and never benefits from his investments in wonderful organizations for good like MoveOn.org. (Please stop laughing!)

Well, some disagree. Last August the American Thinker ran an article about the legendary Soros and the left's love affair with the man. Here's the last paragraph:
Soros is an enterprising man and legendary investor. He figured out sooner and better than anyone else how to buy political power and bend politicians to his will. He is not a goody-two-shoes, as partisans on the left try to portray him. He has benefited hugely from leverage, and the best leverage he enjoys is when he "gives" money in ways that are really investments (payoffs, bribes?) in disguise. Shame on Mayer, Rich, and others who hide this history. They also are all but puppets in the hands of George Soros.
Read the rest to see some of the unsavory ways Soros makes his money. Love of money is the root of all evils and Soros is a classic example of that truth. By the way, he made mucho bucks off the housing collapse. For most little people, their house is their biggest investment and many lost everything. How do you rationalize that disaster by a man who made billions off it with the image of somebody who cares so much about the little guy? You don't. Soros is a fraud and an exploiter. But unfortunately for him there are no lobbyists at the pearly gates and you can't buy your way into heaven.

Tell Congress: Defund Planned Parenthood!

Randy Engel has a long memory and the files to back it up. She sent an email over the weekend urging people to contact their representatives to defund Planned Parenthood (PP). PP is always trying to distance itself from its unsavory eugenic roots. Margaret Sanger considered many segments of the population "human weeds." Catholics, Jews, poor immigrants, etc. were all among the flotsam of the world in her elitist opinion. Reading her Birth Control Review provides a birdseye view of the culture of death in action. She was one of its founding "mothers," Medea who kills her own children and serves them up to their father.

PP pretends that Sanger's policies no longer impact the organization she birthed which they try to portray as compassionate and concerned about women. But their modern history is just as sick as their distant past. And Randy illustrates it.

In 1969 then Vice President of PP, Frederick Jaffe, sent a memo to the head of the Population Counsil, Bernard Berelson. It included a table of "Proposed Measures to Reduce U.S. Fertility." These included discouraging marriage, indoctrinating children in schools, encouraging homosexuality, economic disincentives, and more draconian actions like compulsory abortion/sterilization, requiring permits to have children, and putting sterilizing agents in the water.

Here's what Randy writes about the memo:
The infamous Jaffe/Berlelson Memo from Planned Parenthood Vice President Frederick S. Jaffe to Bernard Berelson, President of Rockefeller’s Population Council describes various means of population control including increasing homosexuality and compulsory abortion and sterilization. The Memo was first made public in 1970 by the U.S. Coalition for Life. The Memo was taken from “A Family Planning Perspectives Special Supplement” published by Planned Parenthood-World Population. A copy of the Memo in its original format is available  from the USCL Research Library at the above link. Make sure your Representative and Senators get a copy of the Memo.

The Significance of the Jaffe/Berelson Memo

The Jaffe/Berelson Memo was drawn up by Jaffe as a companion piece to Berelson’s paper, “Beyond Family Planning,” published in the Population Council’s February 1969 issue of Studies in Family Planning.  According to Berelson, federal family planning programs are “the first step to population control.” Why? Berelson answers, “Probably because from a broad political standpoint it is the most acceptable one: since closely tied to maternal and child care it can be perceived as a health measure beyond dispute; and since voluntary it can be justified as a contribution to the effective personal freedom of individual couples.” Is Berelson saying that Congress was duped into supporting Title X birth limitation programs in 1970 under the guise of maternal health care and volunteerism, when in fact, Congress was taking its first step toward population control, which unlike “family planning” includes a wide range of compulsory means of population reduction including compulsory abortion and sterilization and social constraints such as “encouraging increased homosexuality?” If federal “family planning” programs are indeed stepping stones to totalitarian population control by the State, then it is time, indeed, that Uncle Sam got himself out of the birth limitation business. Cutting Planned Parenthood funding is an excellent first step toward this goal.
PP is not now and never has been about "helping women." It is about population control and eliminating "unwanted" and "undesirable" elements in our society. They have always worked hand in hand with the population controllers. The irony is that many of these "undesirables" are helping to advance PP's agenda.

Contact your representatives in Congress and your senators. Demand that they defund this eugenics group (that particularly targets poor minorities) in any upcoming continuing resolution or budget bill. Send them the link to the Jaffe/Berelson memo. Keep your message short and polite but firm. DEFUND PLANNED PARENTHOOD!

Many Abuse Allegations Against Priests are Completely False

Love of money is the root of all evils. Add that to the fact that the world sees the Church with deep pockets and you can't help but think what a target she is for unscrupulous, money hungry charlatans looking for a quick and easy feed. Did you know that a lawyer in Minnesota runs TV ads seeking new "victims" of priest abusers? (Think hard! Surely you have a memory of abuse deep down that needs to be retrieved of Fr. So and so molesting you, and it's so much easier than chasing ambulances.)

And then, of course, there is the case of revenge. What better way to vent your anger against a priest than accuse him of being a sexual predator who molested you years ago. No one can prove it didn't happen, and an accusation these days is as good as a conviction. What a sweet revenge for  troubled individual who has fabricated an injury by a priest who may have done nothing more than speak a hard truth in love.

The cases of child abuse are horrifying and I've read several books about them, but that doesn't mean all priests are guilty or that there aren't liars who will take advantage of a feeding frenzy to get a free handout.

Who is defending the rights of priests? Not their bishops!

I've been reading the accounts of the trial and conviction of Fr. Gordon MacRae who has spent 16 years in prison for an accusation of sex abuse that he denies. He refused a plea bargain that would have given him a reduced term in exchange for pleading guilty. He could have been out of jail thirteen years ago by saying two little words, "I'm guilty." It's hard to imagine that a guilty priest, a sex abuser in fact, would remain in prison for years rather than admit guilt. What does he have to gain? More prison time. Even parole is linked to an admission of guilt. I have no way to know whether Father is guilty or innocent, but I find it hard to believe a guilty man would cling to innocence when he had so much to gain by pleading guilty.

There are no doubt innocent priests in prison or suspended. Some were advised by diocesan lawyers to avoid trials and minimize settlements by accepting plea bargains admitting guilt, even when they were innocent. (That actually happened to me after an arrest at a Catholic church where Call to Action was meeting.)  I also know a priest in that situation. In many cases, dioceses would rather settle than engage in litigation to defend their priests. What do you think they would do if the accused was the bishop?

Pray for all innocent priests who are suffering like Our Savior, falsely accused and executed for our sins. May their sufferings be joined to His on the cross in atonement for the sins of the world.

More on Fr. Corapi: Bishop Rene Gracida, Comments on the Unjust Procedures Used Against Accused Priests

The procedures being followed by the bishops against accused priests are unjust as Bishop Emeritus of Corpus Christi, Rene Gracida, points out in this post. He brings up a number of issues that relate to the injustice against accused priests that has resulted from the bishops' desire to deflect attention from their own irresponsibility in dealing with the sex abuse crisis.

Sen. Frank Lautenberg Attacks Pro-Lifers: They Don't Deserve the Protection of the Constitution!

Sen. Frank Lautenberg plays the game that Planned Parenthood is about something besides abortion, their primary business. Then he declares that pro-lifers and tea party activists don't deserve the protections of the Constitution. Yup, murdering babies is protected but those who defend babies "don't deserve" Constitutional rights. This is the voice of "pro-choice" which only respects one choice -- theirs and expects you to pay for it no matter how abhorrent. New Jersey, send this man home the next time he's up for reelection.

Troy Newman of Operation Rescue made the following statement concerning Lautenberg's offensive remarks:
Sen. Lautenberg wishes that he could disenfranchise pro-life supporters, which comprise the majority of the American people, and turn them into second-class citizens based on their deeply held religious and moral convictions. His remarks are unconscionable and offensive, not to mention extremely inappropriate for a United States Senator who has been entrusted with looking to the best interests of the people.

We find Lautenberg's remarks highly hypocritical since his state of New Jersey is home to the notorious illegal late-term abortionist Steven Chase Brigham, who recently had his license to practice medicine suspended after he was caught operating an illegal bi-state late-term abortion racket. Let us not forget that the bodies of 35 late-term babies were discovered at Brigham's illegal abortion clinic and that he remains the subject of a murder investigation. New Jersey is also the home of the Planned Parenthood office where an employee was recently caught on tape aiding and abetting the concealment of sex trafficking.

Perhaps Lautenberg should spend more time actually protecting the public from predatory abortionists in his home state instead of wishing to strip precious Constitutional rights from those who do work to protect women and their innocent babies. While Lautenberg prattles on in support of those who exploit women at tax-payer expense, women and their babies remain at risk in Lautenberg's state from unscrupulous abortion clinics like Brigham's and Planned Parenthood.
We demand that Sen. Lautenberg apologize for his bigoted and hateful remarks immediately and publicly

The Legion of Mary Acie: Our Lady's Troops Pass in Review

Today was the Legion of Mary Acie for all the praesidia in the area (the name for the individual groups). The word Acie is Latin for an army arranged in battle formation. Nothing has ever emphasized to me so much the idea of the "Church Militant" as seeing these individual groups of legionaires lined up behind their individual banners honoring the woman Fr. Norman Weslin of the Lambs for Christ has always called "our 12-star general." I belong to the praesidium of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Woodstock, Our Lady Help of Christians. All the others have their own separate names honoring Mary under her different titles. Today we formed and passed in review for Our King Jesus present in the Holy Eucharist and Our Lady, our Queen and General.

If you read any history about war prior to the 20th century, you know that on the battlefield the opposing forces are greatly encouraged if they can defeat a group and "steal their colors," i.e., gain their insignia or their banners. At the Acie we march behind our banners honoring the Mother of God and making our annual promise as we put our hands on the Legion ensign (the Vexillum Legionis) and express our fealty to Our Lady saying, "I am all yours, my Queen, my Mother, and all that I have is yours."

Among the several hundred participants today were many children who belong to the Junior Legion. They came forward and promised themselves to the Mother of God, first making their obeisance to Our King exposed in the monstrance on the altar. What an impressive ceremony! And how encouraging to see so many young people in the Church devoted to doing Our Lady's work!

And then we celebrated with a potluck supper.

I have been a Legion Auxiliary for several years, but this was the first time I could attend the Acie. I thank God for belonging to a group devoted to serving the Lord through His Immaculate Mother. Using that humble woman to defeat the forces of evil must be the greatest blow to Satan's pride possible. He, who would not bow to Jesus, will be crushed through the actions of a humble Virgin. He isn't worth the attention of the King Himself. How that must make Satan gnash his teeth!

Praised be Jesus Christ now and forever!

Families Fleeing San Francisco - Surprised?

Smart parents is all I can say! I wouldn't let a grandchild of mine anywhere near the Castro District! And then there's the Folsom Street Fair. San Francisco may be the place the Lord had in mind when he said, "Flee the cities."

Here Am I, Lord, I Come to do Your Will!

I love the feast of the Annunciation/Incarnation. It's an event that's bigger than the creation of the world! In an explosion of grace that occurs quietly, hidden in a nondescript little town in Galilee, the Lord of the universe begins life in the womb of a teenage girl. Wow! The Savior of the world enters human creation through a humble "gate."

Why do Protestants have such a hard time seeing the importance of Mary? Why would Jesus, Who chose to come to earth through the narrow gate of Mary's body, not call His followers to imitate Him in His humility by entering the next life through that same humble gate?

It seems logical to me that the Lord who is "meek and humble of heart," wants us to imitate those qualities by submitting to Mary as His channel of grace. It fits beautifully with Mary's titles, Ark of the Covenant and Gate of Heaven. Meditate on Mary's titles and thank Jesus for giving us so loving a Mother who watches over us with such maternal care. "Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like unto Thine." Mary, "Gate of Heaven," pray for us.

Thinking about Saint Joseph During His Month.

My little two-year-old granddaughter was just asking me about St. Joseph. Coincedentally, a friend sent this lovely lullaby about the "just man," who so faithfully cared for Mary and her baby. St. Joseph, pray for us.

Update on Fr. Corapi

Statement of Santa Cruz Media, Inc.
Relative to Fr. Corapi’s Suspension

Santa Cruz Media, Inc. is the owner of all of Fr. John Corapi’s intellectual property and the DVDs, CDs, and books that flow from it. We are a secular corporation and not affiliated with the Catholic Church in any way. As such, we are not under the jurisdiction of any bishop or other official in the Catholic Church, although we have the utmost respect for Church authority.

We fully support Rev. John Corapi in this terrible trial, not surprisingly having begun on Ash Wednesday. Through the sacrifice and struggle of the desert and all of the dark moments that this entails, we are confident that the glory of the risen Lord will shine forth from the power of the Resurrection and Easter.

We have consulted with a number of canon lawyers. They have assured us that the actions of the Bishop of Corpus Christi, Texas are, on several points of canon law, illicit. It is our fervent hope that The Dallas Charter will be changed because of false accusations like this. There is no evidence at this time that Fr. Corapi did anything wrong, only the unsubstantiated rant of a former employee, who, after losing her job with this office, physically assaulted me and another employee and promised to "destroy" Father Corapi. We all continue to pray for this person, and we ask you to do the same.

We sincerely believe that the work Fr. Corapi has done is of greatest value to the Church, hence hated by the devil. We fully intend to make Fr. Corapi’s material available as a service to the Church and the world for as long as we possibly can.

The Church provides no financial support to Fr. Corapi. He has to pay for his own legal representation, medical costs, food, housing, etc. We have never accepted donations or charitable contributions of any kind. We are supporting Father’s efforts to defend himself. Your purchase of products from Santa Cruz Media helps provide the funding for Father's continued work as well as the legal expenses he continues to incur as a result of these malicious allegations.
Father Corapi and all of us here at Santa Cruz Media, Inc. greatly appreciate your kindness, support, and prayers. Please continue to pray for Father Corapi and his accuser, as well as all priests who find themselves in this unfortunate situation.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Bobbi Ruffatto

Most Catholics Support "Gay" Rights...Or Do They?

A poll released Tuesday by the Public Religion Research Institute claims that 75% of Catholics approve of "gay" and lesbian rights. But do they? William Donohue of the Catholic League demurs:
"Those who attend a few times a year think it's fine (59 percent); those who attend once or twice a month are mostly opposed (only 43 percent support it); and those who attend weekly or more are not big fans of two guys getting married (26 percent). In other words, there is a positive correlation between Mass attendance and adherence to the Church's teachings.” (The statistics cited by Donohue come from the Institute’s own findings.) Read complete article here...
So, it all depends. Real Catholic don't kill babies and real Catholics don't believe that Adama and Steve can get married. Cafeteria Catholics, on the other hand, rationalization any number of immoral situations: e.g., the murder of children in the womb, the use contraception including abortifacients to thwart God's will for the marital act, same-sex marriage, fornication, shacking up, cheating and stealing, women's ordination, etc.

The question is...why do these CINOs (Catholics in name only) bother? Jesus said, "Not all who say 'Lord, Lord' will enter the kingdom, but only those who hear the word of God and keep it." So why do all these folks continue to play church? What's their motive? I think Scott Peck pegged it in People of the Lie when he quoted Martin Buber's book, Good and Evil:
Since the primary motive of the evil is disguise, one of the places evil people are most likely to be found is within the church. What better way to conceal one's evil from oneself, as well as from others.....Evil people tend to gravitate towards piety for the disguise and concealment it can offer them.
If I can claim to be a "devout Catholic" while promoting the killing of children as a "compassionate" solution to a difficult pregnancy situation, I can, perhaps, rationalize in my own mind that I'm a caring person rather than an accessory to murder. If I parade around as "tolerant" toward  immoral "gay" sex, I can feel justified about my own sexual sins and proud of myself for my superior open-mindedness versus all those rigid and judgmental Christians who quote the Bible.

It really isn't all that hard to explain when you think about it.

Contrails or Chemtrails?

I've tended to dismiss all the talk about chemtrails, but when you have tests showing "unusual spiking" in barium and aluminum in the water, what's going on? And certainly weather manipulation is possible and has been used across the globe. How much is actually going on and where? Do citizens have the right to know when the sky over their homes is being sprayed with chemicals?

State Department Lies to Latin American Delegation: Says Vatican Supports Resolution on Homosexual Rights

Anyone with eyes and ears knows this administration doesn't mind lying through its teeth to get whatever it wants passed. And that's what the state department did at a U.N. meeting in Geneva with regard to a resolution on homosexual rights. Here's what C-Fam reports:
The US Department of State is telling Latin American delegations to the United Nations that the Vatican has changed its position on a sexual orientation declaration that was just released at the Human Rights Council in Geneva, according to diplomatic sources in New York.

According to these sources, an official in Western Hemisphere Affairs at the US State Department has held a series of meetings with Latin American delegations telling them the Vatican now supports the declaration calling for “sexual orientation and gender identity” to be new categories of non-discrimination in international law. However, a high ranking source at the Holy See says these assertions are false and that the Holy See opposes the declaration being considered in Geneva.  Read more here...
Are we surprised?

Don't Eat That Poisoned Apple!

First Apple censored the app for the Manhattan Declaration, a statement of Christian principles upholding the right to life and the sanctity of traditional marriage. Now Exodus International got the axe. Its app  offering compassionate support to "gays" who want out of the homosexual lifestyle disappeared yesterday. Apple says the app was offensive to a large group of people. But they have all kinds of apps for those embracing the "gay" lifestyle. Here are a few:
Gay/Lesbian News Reader, HRC Buying for Workplace Equality Guide, Jack'd gay "social network," Grindr "gay, bi & curious guy finder," or Gay Dance Radio
Personally, I find all these apps grossly offensive and I'm sure lots of other Christians do too. So will Apple remove them? Don't hold your breath! Apple supports the "gay" agenda bigtime. The company gave $100,000 to the effort to defeat Proposition 8 in California in 2008, the bill to protect traditional marriage.

Are Faithful Catholics Bullies When They Criticize Homosexual Behavior?

I've been accused more than once of being "hateful," "homophobic," and "a bully" for standing with the Church against immoral homosexual activity.  But last Tuesday at the U.N. a Vatican official said the same thing:
A Vatican representative to the United Nations spoke out today against “attacks” on freedom of conscience and religion, directed against Catholics and others who hold traditional beliefs about sexual morality and human nature.

Archbishop Silvano M. Tomasi spoke out in a March 22 meeting of the U.N. Human Rights Council, calling attention to what he described as a “disturbing trend” in debates over social life and human rights.

“People are being attacked for taking positions that do not support sexual behavior between people of the same sex,” Archbishop Tomasi told the council.

“When they express their moral beliefs or beliefs about human nature, which may also be expressions of religious convictions, or state opinions about scientific claims, they are stigmatized, and worse – they are vilified, and prosecuted.”

The archbishop stated that these attempts to silence Catholics, and other critics of homosexual practice, were a human rights violation according to the council's own standards. See more....
The Archbishop made the distinction between people's thoughts and feelings and their behavior. Countries cannot, he said, regulate the former, but the latter must be regulated because sexual activity has a moral dimension. Some activities must be restricted. He gave the examples of incest and pedophilia.

Homosexual activists are working hard to stifle criticism of their activies defining it as "hate speech." In Canada they have been so successful that Christians quoting the Bible about homosexual practices have been fined and imprisoned. Will it happen here? We're moving in that direction as "gay" activists "jam" anyone who dares to call their behavior immoral.

Sometimes the truth hurts. But not speaking it hurts more when souls and lives are at stake.

I Love My Magnificat

The world is going to hell in a handcart...or maybe, in today's technological age when things are bigger and faster, a jumbo jet. It's more and more evident that the "primrose path of dalliance" (aka, the road to perdition) is wide and "many there are who find it." The narrow path, on the other hand, is less well travelled like the way of the Cross. It's rocky and not very welcoming for those looking for an easy road. Well, what else is new? Such has been the story since the fall of Adam and Eve, the murder of Abel, the depravity of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all the sad tales of sin and horror since then that find men seeking forbidden pleasures and spurning sacrifice.

But it's imporant to remember that the bad news is only part of the story. Despite all the evil in the world there is goodness...and truth and beauty. And often that reminder comes to me from the daily reading in my Magnificat. On Monday when I read the Meditation for the Day I knew I had to share its inspiring and hopeful message written by Dom Anscar Vonier, O.S.B. (+ 1906) who was abbot of Buckfast Abbey in Devon England. Here's what the Abbot wrote that gives me such hope and such joy at being a Catholic:

"Gay" Activists are Soooooooo Tolerant!

Gay group demands Apple remove ex-gay app
"Victoria Pynchon of Forbes magazine defended the Exodus app, and questioned the targeting of iPhone apps by special interest groups.

“'At the risk of putting myself at the center of a firestorm of disapproval, I have to say that what I viewed and read on the Exodus app was not hate speech but simply the expression of religious beliefs with which I, and many other people, disagree,'” wrote Pynchon.
"Gay" groups were previously successful in getting the Manhattan Declaration App removed. This is censorship pure and simple, but all the "gays" have to do to accomplish is it to "jam" their opponents. You dare to speak the biblical truth about the immorality of sodomy and fellatio and prepare for the "gay" lynch mob. Really...they are a bunch of heterophobes who are especially Christian-phobic. If it were legal I think they would gladly cover us in pitch and use us to light up their bathhouses and garden parties all the while screaming about how much we hate them as they apply the torch.

Which is one more proof that sin is never content with tolerance. Everybody must celebrate the sinful act as good, true, and beautiful. Sorry, I have a hard time seeing fisting and anal sex as virtues.

Does L.A. Archdiocese Teach the Faith?

“God made you this way”
LA archdiocesan newspaper features interview with leader of ministry to homosexuals

It's a game "gays" play who want to excuse their behavior. If "God made me this way" I don't have to resist my evil inclinations. God can't possibly be so mean as to make me with an inclination to same sex sodomy and then not let me do it.

Hey, we can all join the game. "God made me this way" so I can (take your pick) lie, cheat, embezzle from my boss, commit fornication, sleep with my neighbor's spouse, have sex with children, enjoy pornography and self abuse..... Woo hoo! No rules! I'm free to be me!

One question: Does the diocese of Los Angeles accept the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the doctrines taught in the deposit of the faith or are they teaching a cafeteria version when it comes to homosexuality?

How Long Will the Lord Withhold his Hand? Over 50% Favor Same-Sex Marriage

Support for Gay Marriage Reaches a Milestone: More Than Half of Americans Say Gay Marriage Should Be Legal

The writing is on the wall. We've lost our minds and our moral underpinnings. In practical terms what this means is that the promotion of homosexuality in the schools will be off the charts. Already, homosexuality is being promoted in Kindergarten and even pre-school. The brainwashing of children to accept homosexuality as normal is already well-advanced. Youth will be encouraged to question their sexuality and engage in homosexual experimentation.

Gay-straight Alliance clubs will increase in numbers and the explicit promotion of homosexual sex as normal and just an alternative will increase. Along with that will be all the problems associated with immoral behavior: increased venereal diseases, alcohol and drug use, depression and other emotional problems, and suicides. As we sink further into the culture of death, the young will pay a heavy price because of the scandal of their older family members. But the scandlizers will bear the weight of the millstones for their evil.

Pray and fast for our poor country and our poor world. The next earthquake and tsunami may very well be here. God is trying to get our attention. Is anyone listening?

Matthew 24:
"You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. Do not be alarmed. Such things are bound to happen, but that is not yet the end. Nation will rise against nation, one kingdom against another. There will be famine and pestilence and earthquakes in many places. These are the early stages of the birth pangs. They will hand you over to torture and kill you. Indeed you will be hated by all nations on my account. Many will falter then, betraying and hating one another. False prophets will rise in great numbers to mislead many. Because of the increase of evil, the love of most will grow cold. The man who holds out to the end, however, is the one who will see salvation. This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the world as a witness to all the nations. Only after that will the end come."
Don't lose hope. Resolve to put on the armor of God and fight for souls. No one is beyond God's grace. Begin in your own families and draw as many as you can to Christ. Remember that in 1973 the pro-aborts said the war was over and they had won. But the abortion war rages on with more and more people defending the unborn. The same will be true when the ravages of homosexuality and the devastated lives becomes obvious. Fight and don't grow weary!

Barcelona Priest, Manuel Pousa, to be Formally Excommunicated

Sometimes heretics get what they deserve and what the good of the Church demands. Fr. Manuel Pousa bragged about paying for abortions and blessing homosexual unions. He was automatically excommunicated when he abetted the abortion. But now the bishop will make it official -- finally!

Here's an excerpt from the LifeSiteNews article on this rogue shepherd:
Fr. Manuel Pousa first acknowledged he had paid for abortions in 2008. While his statements were reported widely in the Catholic press, Cardinal Sistach did not act against the priest at the time, instead calling him into his office for a private conversation.
However, the cardinal has decided to act in the face of new statements made by Pousa in a book recently published about the priest, “Manel Pousa: Closer to earth than to heaven.”

In the book Pousa admits to having paid for an abortion, as well as having blessed homosexual unions, including a union between a female prison guard and an inmate. He also rejects the obligation of clerical celibacy, supports the ordination of priestesses, and admits to having a girlfriend - with whom he claims to maintain a celibate relationship.
The priest's excommunication is overdue, but it seems unlikely that it will bring about a change of heart. Some demons are only driven out by prayer and fasting. So please offer your Lenten fast for this false shepherd who has scandalized so many.

Baby Joseph Gets Tracheotomy and Will Be Going Home Soon

According to Cardinal Glennon Hospital, Baby Joseph received a tracheotomy today and is doing well. The baby will stay in the pediatric intensive care unit for 7-10 days then be transferred to another pediatric hospital temporarily before returning to Windsor where the family hopes to have a few more months together with their little son. Priests for Life is paying for the baby's medical care. Read more here...

Liberal Wisconsin Judge has Conflict of Interest -- Son is Union Operative

Federal judge, Maryann Sumi, who issued the temporary restraining order against the Wisconsin budget law has a son who is a political operative and a former lead field manager for the SEIO which covers both public and private sector workers. Looks like a conflict of interest which required her to recuse herself from the case. (Isn't it convenient to have Mom on the bench to support your ideology?)

Air Strikes Against Libya -- Here We Go Again!

Are we nuts as a country? How many wars can the U.S. wage around the world? What is our interest in Libya? And what will be the unintended consequences of ANOTHER U.S. intervention against a country that has not attacked us? Watch for more terrorist acts in the U.S. as payback.

It’s Libya’s War, Not Ours

In Wisconsin Republicans Get Death Threats

Did you hear about the death threats against Wisconsin senators? I sure didn't. You can bet you would have heard about it if the tea party movement made them against Democrats. The bullies our out in force in union T-shirts, but it's the kid gloves from the mainstream media.

Organized labor vs. the tea party by Henry Lamb:
A battle between organized labor and the tea parties is decidedly a one-sided battle. Organized labor receives regular income from every member, often deducted by the employer and paid directly to the labor union. National Education Association attorney, Bob Chanin says:

"The NEA and its affiliates are effective advocates because we have power. And we have power because there are more than 3.2 million people who are willing to pay us hundreds of millions of dollars in dues each year. …"  [NB: Individuals often have no choice but are forced to join the union and pay dues to promote political parties and positions (like abortion) that they oppose.]

Tea parties, on the other hand, survive on the voluntary contributions of people who give to support their beliefs.

Labor unions can lease buses and print signs and pay members of other unions to stack their demonstrations. Tea-party members must take time off from work and make their own signs if they participate in demonstrations.

Labor union protesters, to some significant degree, are essentially mercenaries; Tea-party protesters are patriots. This gives tea parties a decided advantage. People who are motivated by principle, a sense of fairness, honor and respect for the God-given freedom guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution will win – in the long term.  Read more here....
The unions have sworn to keep up the fight. Of course they have! They are facing a real loss of power. If individuals have a right NOT to pay union dues, except for what goes to collective bargaining, the unions will lose millions that now go to buy politicians. We're always hearing about those evil CEOs. What about the evil union bosses?

In Wisconsin: The Alinsky Method in Action

My friend Nancy from Wisconsin sent me the linked article below about Alinsky organizing and her analysis of what's happening in her state. It's Alinsky in spades freezing and demonizing "the enemy" and using confrontation and bullying as tactics to succeed. With the mainstream media in their pocket, the Democrats are playing from a stacked deck. Walker has become the target and the teachers' unions are relentlessly attacking him and anyone who disagrees with them. The reality is that the Democrats have lied throughout the proceedings, negotiated in bad faith, and had no intention of ever going along with anything proposed by the Governor. It's their way or they're on the highway. Their continued public tantrum is Saul Alinsky all the way.

This is how a Republic crumbles -- through organizing a mob that flouts the law, bullies, and browbeats. In the end, however, the mob gets caught up in the disaster they help create. So let's pray the anarchists in Wisconsin fail. (Did you know the Communist party is in the Wisconsin mobs?) Note that the document linked at the end was created by the NEA whose motive isn't helping the children. It's money and power, pure and simple according to their own corrupt leaders!

Pray for Fr. John Corapi and his Accuser

A former employee has accused Fr. John Corapi of wrong-doing. Pray for a speedy resolution to the scandal. Unfortunately, as Fr. Corapi points out, guilt is immediately assumed. But in a world filled with troubled people, false accusations are certainly not unlikely. We've become so cynical that accepting an accusation as trial and verdict is common.

“The resultant damage to the accused is immediate, irreparable, and serious, especially for someone like myself, since I am so well known.”

Linda Gibbons: Pro-Life heroine of Canada

If you've read my post about heroes and the accompanying article, you already know about pro-life heroine-grandmother Linda Gibbons. She's spent eight of the last sixteen years in jail for violating Canada's unjust laws against demonstrating outside abortion mills. This courageous woman deserves to be better known outside Canada.

I urge you during Lent to pray and sacrifice in solidarity with Linda who has united herself so closely to the persecuted Son of God. Her case goes before the Supreme Court of Canada next December. In the meantime she'll be in court on another matter in April. But she remains incarcerated because she refuses to go along with a bail condition to stay away from the abortion mills. Please pray for justice for Linda and for all those who defend the rights of the babies.

Want to thank Linda for her witness?

And here are mailing guidelines for prison mail per a friend of hers:

1. Don’t use stickers (address, return address, pro-life) on the envelope or card.

2. Don’t send any laminated cards, bookmarks, prayer cards, pro-life pamphlets. Non-laminated items will get to her.

3. Don’t ask direct questions about daily activity of the detention centre.

4. Put your address directly in the card or letter. (Sometimes the mail sorter keeps the envelope and Linda feels badly if she can’t write back.)

5. If you would like to send a monetary gift to Linda it must be a money order made out to “Linda Gibbons.” The detention centre will deposit the money directly to her account. She uses any donations for envelopes and stamps.

6. Many people add a variety of Christian reading material in their mailings to her. She often shares articles with others in the Centre. She can receive pro-life material that show the development of the baby but not post-abortion photos. She can’t receive books. Try to stick to one or two pages of reading materials or pamphlets.

Who Are Your Heroes?

A friend sent me an interesting article (which you can read after the break) with what I think is an important question -- Who are your heroes?

How would you answer that question? Would you pick one of the contestants on American idol? A famous historical figure? A religious leader? Your grandfather?

What makes someone a hero?

I hope you'll discuss this in the comment section. As the author of the article states, "I learn things about a person I might otherwise have missed. Better, I may get a view into the best side of that person: the side that is aspiring, morally, upward."

So what do you look for in a hero? And who are your heroes this Lent?

Organ Donors Beware

Great article on patients ready for organ donations who weren't dead and survived! See it here and don't miss the long list of related articles at the end.

More on the Morality/Immorality of Organ Donation

Are Organ Transplants Ever Morally Licit?

A commentary on the address of Pope John Paul II to the XVIII International Congress of the Transplantation Society

By Bishop Fabian Wendelin Bruskewitz, Bishop Robert F. Vasa, Walt F. Weaver, Paul A. Byrne, Richard G. Nilges, and Josef Seifert

On August 29, 2000, Pope John Paul II delivered an address to the XVIII International Congress of the Transplantation Society. While we are grateful for his teachings, we believe that certain points need further clarification.

Some members of the medical profession have interpreted the Holy Father’s address as a tacit unconditional approval for organ transplantation. We believe this interpretation of the Pope’s teaching is profoundly wrong. In fact, we read the Pope’s address as a strong condemnation of the inhumane procedures and violations of natural moral law that presently occur with the transplantation of certain organs. We further argue that all men of good will must properly understand and explicitly follow the applicable theological and moral laws.

These laws are:
• No unpaired vital organ can morally be removed from a living human person;

• There should be no commercial traffic in human organs;

• People—especially the young—must fully comprehend that when they agree to be organ donors, they give transplant surgeons a license to terminate their lives.

Some members of the medical profession have heralded the Pope’s speech as an affirmation of their procedures, when in truth the Holy Father set forth stricter guidelines. These stricter guidelines are currently being violated, misinterpreted, or ignored.

When Organ Donation Kills the Donor

Here's a very clear article on the morality (and immorality) of organ donation, Brain Death and Organ Harvesting. In brief, it's moral when the donated parts of the body come from a true cadaver. The organs can no longer perform their function since the dead body cannot benefit from the good they do.

The problem today, however, is that ESSENTIAL organs are being taken from living, breathing individuals who are labeled "dead" when they are clearly still alive. It happens because a relativistic attitude has crept into medicine that says, "The patient will die anyway." But what actually kills the patient is taking the essential organs. A person who was alive before donating his heart, for example, is surely dead after and the cause was stealing his heart. Here's an excerpt from the article that is clear as a bell. Red highlights are mine:
Before 1968, the determination of the moment of death was done by the cessation of respiratory and cardiac functions, entirely necessary to maintain the unity of a living being. However, it was in 1968 that the Harvard criteria were first proposed and accepted, namely that brain death could be used to determine the fact of death. Professor Seifert, a specialist on the question, had this to say to LifesiteNews of February 24, 2009: "We look in vain for any argument for this unheard of change of determining death ...except for two pragmatic reasons for introducing it, which have nothing to do at all with the question of whether a patient is dead but only deal with why it is practically useful to consider or define him to be dead …the wish to obtain organs for implantation and to have a criterion for switching off ventilators in ICUs."...
A very interesting contribution to the whole consideration of the morality of the removal of organs from persons said to be brain dead has come from an unexpected source. It is the New England Journal of Medicine that published, on August 14, 2008, vol. 359 (7), p. 674-675, an article that demonstrates beyond all serious doubt that the harvesting of organs is done from persons that truly are living, and that in point of fact it is the harvesting of the organs necessary for life, such as lungs, heart, two kidneys, complete liver and pancreas, that is actually the cause of death.

The title of the article is “The Dead Donor Rule and Organ Transplantation” and it was written by Dr. Truong & Professor Miller (see the excerpt below).

The authors do not conclude that organ transplantation ought not therefore to be done, but to the contrary justify it on the purely utilitarian non-principle that the person was going to die in any case. This we cannot accept, as the Church has constantly taught, for the end does not justify the means, and you cannot kill a person on account of the good that can come to another person. Nevertheless, the passage attached as a note below illustrates the principle that the donor of the organs is indeed a living person, and hence that act of taking the organs is the deliberate termination of life, and that transplantation of organs necessary for life can only be justified as the taking of one life to save or prolong another life—that is, by playing God. The authors are entirely in favor of such immorality, but at least they avoid the hypocrisy of attempting to justify it by pretending that the brain dead person is actually a dead non-person, pointing out that he retains many vital functions, and can live for years in such a state.

In their own words: “The uncomfortable conclusion to be drawn from this literature is that although it may be perfectly ethical to remove vital organs for transplantation from patients who satisfy the diagnostic criteria of brain death, the reason it is ethical cannot be that we are convinced they are really dead.” They do not even hesitate to question the motives of the medical profession changing from the definition of death by cessation of cardiac function, to that of brain death, purely and simply to obtain organs for transplantation: “At worst, this ongoing reliance suggests that the medical profession has been gerrymandering the definition of death to carefully conform with conditions that are most favorable for transplantation. At best, the rule has provided misleading ethical cover that cannot withstand careful scrutiny.”
There you have it folks. The definition of death changed to facilitate organ theft. It allows doctors to kill living patients with few prospects and give their organs to those considered more worthy of life. If you're young and have signed an organ donation card you may have signed your own death warrant.

Did You Catch a Leprechaun Today?

Every year at least one of our grandkids constructs a leprechaun trap (with the help of engineer dad). This year was the most complicated of all.  See the trap demonstrated here. I wonder how much our first grader actually did. But he's smart as a whip so he was probably a consultant who suggested the laser beams. Oh, by the way, the leprechaun is prevented from jumping out by a plexiglass cover which was left off for the demonstration because of the glare.

Frankly, I suspect that the trap will fail because leprechaun's move at lightening speed and have acute hearing so the minute the magnet begins to operate, he'll here it and dash out under the door. (Did the door catch a bit of green cloth from his coat?) Hey, if Indiana Jones can do it, it's a piece of cake (or Irish soda bread) for a leprechaun! Proof for my theory? I'll bet the door was closed and there was no leprechaun in the trap!

Anyway, Happy St. Paddy's Day and I hope you catch a leprechaun, eat some corned beef and cabbage, and wish the top o' the morning to everyone you meet. We are all Irish on St. Patrick's Day, even St. Patrick who was really a Brit.

Joining the Legion of Mary for Lent

I've been a Legion of Mary auxiliary for seven or eight years which means I say the daily rosary and Legion prayers for the work and intentions of the active Legion. One of the things that motivated me to join the auxiliary was a conversation with Fr. Fran Peffley who said, "If you pray the rosary you receive the graces of the rosary, but if you are a member of the Legion Auxiliary you receive the graces of all the rosaries of legionairies all over the world." Wow! I can use all the graces in my spiritual bank that I can get.

For Lent I decided to try the active Legion. The active Legion commits two hours a week to a work assigned at the meeting. We go out two by two unannounced on an assortment of apostolic missions . Last week two of the men went to the prison and visited four cell blocks. I went with my partner to visit a parishioner who suffered a stroke and is temporarily in a nursing home. We stopped at the home of a new parishioner to welcome them and leave a new parishioner packet but noone was home. Then we went to talk to a nursing home administrator about making sure the parish gets called when people are seriously ill and in danger of death.

This week in addition to our regular works we are hosting the Lenten soup kitchen at our parish and will sponsor a book table. Other works include bringing the Pilgrim Virgin to homes in the parish and doing home enthronements of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Visiting door to door is a work that the founder of the Legion, Frank Duff, considered a central work. I'm not sure how I'll feel about that. My husband and I did it once when we were doing a parish canvas. Most people were civil but we experienced a few slammed doors. But I place all this work in the hands of the Blessed Mother. It's hers after all and she certainly knows the mind of her Son better than anyone. If we walk with Mary she always takes us straight to Jesus on the shortest path. Which is what those who think Catholics "worship Mary" don't understand. If Jesus was humble enough to enter the world through the "narrow gate" of the Blessed Mother, why would He not want his followers to come to Him through that same "narrow gate?" When we honor Mary we are obeying the fourth commandment and can anyone doubt that Jesus followed that command better than anyone? Loving Mary takes nothing from her Son. In fact, she teaches us how to love Him with her own undivided heart. Mary, Mother of the Savior, teach us how to pray.

I Am the Lord Your God, You Shall Not Have Strange Gods Before Me: The Scandal of False Ecumenism

As Catholics we are called to evangelize other faiths, not to bring them into the sanctuary to worship their false gods. It seems that all the churches where these atrocities occurred, even in the sanctuary, should be required to be resanctified. How can this be rationalized with 2000 years of Catholic history? As St. Paul says, can a man join his body to a harlot? Can a Roman Catholic pray with a pagan or feminist who worships Isis? How can the Vatican participate in the Parliament of World Religions. Religious indifferentism is a sin against the first commandment. A "pan religious melting pot" is anathema to Catholicism, but it's still going on. No wonder we are in so much trouble. Have mercy on us, Lord our God.

The Third Secret of Fatima and World Events

The message below (an extended post with links) was assembled by Robert Moynihan, editor of Inside the Vatican. Thanks to Jane who sent it via email.with his permission. It relates to the Fatima message, the third secret, and current events. Sr. Lucy believed we were in the end times. How long they will last, we can have no way of knowing, but with the number of natural disasters and the increasing wars around the world we are certainly being warned. (Read Matthew 24.) If you aren't saying the daily rosary, please start for your own sake. On a number of occasions the Blessed Mother has warned us of coming punishments that can only be mitigated, not stopped, because of the magnitude of sin in the world. When will we take our loving mother seriously and repent? Live the message of Fatima! Pray and do penance. Don't wait any longer.  (I highlighted in red sections I thought should be stressed.)

Fatima and tsunamis -- just random items collected from the internet.... from Robert Moynihan

Published Testimony:
Pope John Paul II in Fulda, Germany (1980)

The October 1981 issue of the German magazine Stimme des Glaubens reported on a discussion that Pope John Paul II had with a select group of German Catholics, in November of 1980. The following is a verbatim report of the discussion 1:

Text of the Published Report

The Holy Father was asked, "What about the Third Secret of Fatima? Should it not have already been published by 1960?"

Pope John Paul II replied: "Given the seriousness of the contents, my predecessors in the Petrine office diplomatically preferred to postpone publication so as not to encourage the world power of Communism to make certain moves.

"On the other hand, it should be sufficient for all Christians to know this: if there is a message in which it is written that the oceans will flood whole areas of the earth, and that from one moment to the next millions of people will perish, truly the publication of such a message is no longer something to be so much desired."

The Pope continued: "Many wish to know simply from curiosity and a taste for the sensational, but they forget that knowledge also implies responsibility. They only seek the satisfaction of their curiosity, and that is dangerous if at the same time they are not disposed to do something, and if they are convinced that it is impossible to do anything against evil."

At this point the Pope grasped a Rosary and said: "Here is the remedy against this evil. Pray, pray, and ask for nothing more. Leave everything else to the Mother of God."
The Holy Father was then asked: "What is going to happen to the Church?"
He answered: "We must prepare ourselves to suffer great trials before long, such as will demand of us a disposition to give up even life, and a total dedication to Christ and for Christ … With your and my prayer it is possible to mitigate this tribulation, but it is no longer possible to avert it, because only thus can the Church be effectively renewed. How many times has the renewal of the Church sprung from blood! This time, too, it will not be otherwise. We must be strong and prepared, and trust in Christ and His Mother, and be very, very assiduous in praying the Rosary."

Shoveling it by the Truckload at the Bishops' Conference

Did you ever read C.S. Lewis' book That Hideous Strength? If Lewis had been Catholic and lived today, I would guess he modeled it on the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). Every time I read about another USCCB debacle I want to cry. Where are the bishops? Why are they allowing the organization that claims to speak for them to undermine the faith and promote liberalism?

But, why am I upset, you ask? I'm reading The Wanderer for the week of March 3, specifically an article by John Dejak, Why I Don't Bother Listening to any Statement That Comes from the USCCB. Dejak describes the reaction of the USCCB to Obama's gutting of conscience protection for medical personnel. Heres what he says:
The current policy of the administration would force health-care workers, contrary to deeply held beliefs, to dispense contraception some of which may contain abortifacient drugs that would kill unborn children. I quote the tepid resonse of the bishops made through their spokesperson Deirdre McQuade on February 18:
"The administration's action today is cause for disappointment, but also offers reasons for hope regarding an emerging consensus in Washington on the need for clear consceince protections for health-care providers."
The only "emerging consensus," Dejak points out, is that the administration will force every health care worker and pharmacist in the country to participate the killing children. No choice but the administration's choice. And there is absolutely no cause for hope in its actions despite the rosy statement of the bishops' silly mouthpiece. That the USCCB "spokesperson" would characterize the administration's assault on people of faith in such a twisted way, even calling it "welcome news," shows the epitome of political correctness or moral blindness so deep it is unpenetrable, or perhaps both. Dejak calls it "the worst form of obsequiousness to an immoral and coercive government." Yup! But what can one expect from the liberals in miters? Dejak sums up saying:
If the bishops themselves did authorize this statement, then -- horrible to contemplate -- they have betrayed the faith, their sacred office, and quite possibly their souls.
Perhaps it is time for the bishops of the United States to collectively condemn not only the Obama administration and its flagrant disregard for human life and the deeply held beliefs of others, but also the very unthinking political apparatus that continues to embarrass them -- now going on 40-plus years.
Yes, indeed, it is time for bishops of good will who desire to promote the truth to withdraw from the downright evil bureaucracy that promotes all kinds of atrocities in their name. The organization appears to be beyond redemption and it is patently unjust to take the money from people in the pew to undermine their faith and spew manure by the truckload.

If You're a Follower of Christ, Where are your Wounds?

Do you practice "an inoffensive, vanilla Christianity?" See here....  Resolve this Lent to get serious about your role in the Church Militant. We are called to witness to and defend the faith. But many are afraid to witness for fear somebody won't like them and they won't defend the faith because they might be seen as "judgmental" and "intolerant." God help us but, as Fulton Sheen said, we need more intolerance -- intolerance of sin. Living the true Catholic life will cause wounds. People will hate you. Even family members will despise you. Remember what Jesus said about coming to divide. The truth separates and if you speak it, those who don't want to hear it will retaliate against you.

So you can choose. You can love the world and live safe by keeping the truth to yourself and tickling the ears of those who want you tell them they are A-Okay no matter what they are doing. Or you can join the battle and face the slings and arrows of a hostile world. But, think about it, if you have no wounds how can you claim to be a follower of Christ?

Liberals Come Out to Play in Wisconsin

The sideshow continues in Wisconsin with Susan Sarandon showing up for a cameo. Note the screamer at the end of the video when she says "They (the Republicans) have the wealth...." Is that a joke? Don't you love it when rich, pro-abortion Hollywood elites come out to defend the union workers' right to rip off the taxpayer? Poor, poor union -- the NEA is one of the biggest lobby group in the country.

And how about that civility when Sarandon calls the governor an "idiot." Personally, I think she's suffering from psychological projection when you accuse someone else of something that's true of you. The woman doesn't even know enough about our form of government to realize we DON'T live in a "democracy," one of the worst forms of government where the majority can do whatever they want to the minority. Our form of government is a Constitutional Republic, rule by law, not be mob, where we elect our leaders to uphold our Constitution. Obviously the mobs in Wisconsin would like to change our government to Union Rules! Which is what NEA retiring lawyer Bob Chanin admitted in his good-bye speech at the NEA convention. The NEA has never been about the kids, he said; it's about POWER, i.e., using union money to buy politicians. I wonder how many of those folks in the Madison crowd were bused in from other states.

You Do the Crime, You Do the Time -- or at least get censured!

I received the email below from the Wisconsin medical licensing bureau over the doctors who issued fake sick notes at the Capitol. Obviously, it's a form letter which is a good thing since it no doubt means they received LOTS of complaints, as well they should. It's time to make sure that the docs who colluded with union members to defraud the state (great example for the kids, eh?) pay the price for their nauseating behavior. When they steal from the state they steal from the taxpayers who pay for all state services. If you haven't written to complain about the dishonest docs, please do it now.  The contact information is at the top of the letter.

If you don't know what this is all about, go here and here.

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for contacting the Wisconsin Department of Regulation and Licensing regarding reports of physicians issuing sick notes to individuals protesting at the Wisconsin State Capitol.
Any charge against a physician is taken seriously and this is no exception. Rest assured, this agency is processing these complaints and will be working with the independent Medical Examining Board to review them in a timely manner.

Thank you again for contacting us on this important issue.

Recover the Sense of Sin and the Joy of Confession Says Pope Benedict

Years ago we attended a family retreat where the priest told us many times that "sin is the cause of all unhappiness." Original sin and personal sin weigh down the world in sorrow. To see the price of sin just look at the crucifix. The antitdote to sin is repentance and submission to the will of God. But for that to happen we first need to recover that sense of sin. And Pope Benedict is calling on us to do that. Read more here...

Baby Joseph Liberated from Death Peddlars in Canada!

Sometimes the death dealers don't win! Little Baby Joseph is safe now at Cardinal Glennon Children's Medical Center in St. Louis. Praise God!

See more about the rescue mission here and here.

For background go here and here.

And if you were one of those praying and contacting Canadian authorities to release Baby Joseph, may God reward you. Actually, I think he already did.

Epicenter of Japanese Quake Near Akita: A Warning?

The Blessed Mother's apparitions and messages to Sr. Agnes at Akita are among the most frightening ever given by a messenger from heaven predicting global catastrophe with fire falling from the skies. Is it just a coincedence that the epicenter of the Japanese earthquake was so close to Akita or is it a dire warning? Go here for more.... And listen to the Blessed Mother's words. Repentance and reparation may not be able to avert the punishment our world so richly deserves, but it can mitigate it.
If men do not repent and better themselves, God the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the (biblical) flood, such as never seen before.

Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful....The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church, in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops....
Churches and altars will be sacked. The Church will be full of those who accept compromises, and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.
This Lent commit yourself to daily recittion of the rosary. Do penance in reparation for the sins of the world. Pray hard for priests and bishops, especially those leading their flocks to hell. And follow the admonition of St. Padre Pio to "pray, hope, and don't worry."

Are you fasting from plastic bags and incandescent lightbulbs for Lent?

Frankly, I never ate them in the first place.

But really, an article published by Catholic News Service (and printed in the Arlington Catholic Herald to their shame) actually has the gall to suggest that Lent isn't "just about giving up chocolate or ice cream for 40 days." (Hear the superior tone?) No, what it's really about, according to the Catholic Coalition on Climate Change (CCCC) is sacrificing for the environment. Trees are people too, after all. In fact the Executive Director of CCCC, Dan Misleh, is sending out "Catholic climate ambassadors" this spring to urge folks to use cloth shopping bags instead of paper, replace incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent bulbs, give up disposable paper products, and use refillable coffee mugs. Yes indeed, this is what Lent is really all about; the way to Christian holiness is recycling and reducing your carbon footprint.

I visited the CCCC website, another misguided project of the USCCB launched in 2006. It begins with the unreserved acceptance of manmade global warming propaganda (now referred to as climate change). In a position paper describing CCCC I found this interesting and laughable statement:
Because we are not experts on climate change and its consequences, we rely on a scientific consensus (best represented by the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change) to guide our activities. Read the document here...
Perhaps CCCC hasn't heard about all the scandals associated with the IPCC including manipulating data, maligning scientists whose research conflicts with their desired results and denying them access to peer reviewed journals, lying about glacier melt. Oh, and then there are the 1000s of emails that showed the deliberate fraud by this group promoting what meteorologist and founder of the weather channel, John Coleman, calls "the greatest scam in history." Yup, these are the "scientists" whose results CCCC relies on. Not particularly convincing I'd say.

What made me especially angry about the bishops' site was the manipulative video using a child's voice to decry the heavy carbon footprint of the rich countries that are stepping on the poor all over the world. You can almost envision yourself squashing the poor like bugs every time you turn on the hot water, drive your car, heat your home, etc. You are to blame for all those sad faces because of your heavy and deep carbon footprint. Just imagine how guilty the parents of large families should feel!

The video speaks an outright lie when it quotes Cardinal Martino saying:
There is new and stronger evidence that most of the warming over the last fifty years is attributed to human activities.
Now I'm not accusing the Cardinal of lying. No doubt he is buying the fraudulent data of the IPCC.  And considering that he spent about 20 years as papal nuncio at the U.N., he may have a hard time distinguishing between liars and truth tellers; but the fact is there is not only no "new and stronger evidence" for man-made global warming, there is evidence we are moving into a period of cooling and that fluctuations are a normal part of climate measured over time. The "scientists" at the IPCC haven't come up with a good explanation for the Medieval warming period which can hardly be attributed to the use of fossil fuels, so they conveniently ignore it along with any other facts that dispute their bogus claims.

Having said all this, Catholics ought to live a simpler lifestyle where we voluntarily use less so we can contribute more to the poor. Underline that world "voluntarily." The Dives and Lazarus story says it all. We have a moral obligation to care about the poor and share what we have. That's what charity is all about and we have a special obligation during Lent. However, charity, to be charity, must ALWAYS be voluntary. Someone who steals from Peter to give to Paul is not charitable; he's a thief.

And there are plenty of those thieves listed on CCCCs website. When you read their position paper linked above, note their Catholic partners on the left. Many of them are funded big-time by "government" money especially Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Catholic Charities (CC). (I.e., The only money the government has is what it takes from taxpayers and that is supposed to be used for limited and specific purposes.) In fact both CRS and CC are hardly recognizable as Catholic groups because they water down their Catholic identity to protect the government bucks stolen from the taxpayer. So CRS and CC are part of the government conspiracy to forcibly redistribute income which is NOT CHARITY. It's also not very efficient since massive amounts of money go to the bureaucracy and only small amounts trickle down to the poor. And sometimes what actually gets to the poor isn't food and medicine; it's birth control pills, condoms, and suction machines.

Let's look at a few other of CCCC's partners. The Catholic Hospital Association is notorious particularly in view of the betrayal on Obamacare by Sr. Carol Keehan who makes nearly $900,000 in annual salary and can afford a much heavier footprint than most of us. Then there are the dissident nuns of the Leadership Conference of Catholic Women (LCCW) who never met a liberal issue (including abortion) that their members couldn't support. The Franciscan Action Network has endorsed the union thugs in Wisconsin. The Department of Justice, Peace and Human Development is the USCCB office that runs the tainted Catholic Campaign for Human Development and employs staff with links to pro-abortion democrats. It just goes on and on and on. This is the social justice money machine.

I hope you are as angry as I am about the video below. What really hurts the poor is corrupt governments, biofuels which turn food crops into ethanol (promoted big-time by Al Gore and his environmental minions until it became clear it was causing massive rises in food prices), foreign aid linked to murdering and sterilizing the poor, and other complicated issues. The nonsense about global warming and fossil fuels killing the poor is nothing but propaganda. And just think, if you're a Catholic you paid for this idiotic video, one more reason to boycott the bishops' collections.

Instead of putting money in that rice bowl this Lent for the very problematic CRS, give to a charity that really serves the poor and doesn't take government money to do it. Medical Missionaries is one of my favorites and we'll be filling our alms jar this Lent for them. And if you feel guilty after watching the video, go visit a nursing home. Remember what Mother Teresa said, "The poverty of being unwanted, unloved and uncared for is the greatest poverty." Many lonely and forgotten people are waiting to hear your footsteps in the hall even if you arrived in a gas-guzzling SUV.
