Was Joseph Smith Ahead of his Time?

We just left Salt Lake City and being at the center of Mormanism got me thinking about their early practice of polygamy which they abandoned in the late 1800s, I believe because of the desire for statehood. To their credit, the Morman Church has opposed same sex marriage, but the assault on the institution makes polygamy and polyamory and every other deviant lifestyle inevitable. Once the institution is defined as whatever I define as love, the possibilities are limitless. Hey, we've got dozens of "genders" now; why not dozens of "marriages" including same sex, bigamy, polygamy, incestuous, child and adult, you name it. After all, as Woody Allen says, the heart wants what the heart wants (and so do the genitals). One guy in Australia married his dog, why not a girl and her horse or an old goat and his ewe. What's to stop it?

I'll tell you...look in the mirror. Don't buy into the lie that same sex deviance is equivalent to the normal attraction between a man and woman, or the lie that mutilating the body and pumping it full of artificial hormones can change the genetic makeup of a woman into a man or vice versa. Live in the real world! Treat all people with respect, but not their sick ideas. Love always tells the truth with charity. As St. Paul says, "Love is patient, love is kind," but it is also "not happy with evil, but rejoices in the truth."

Speak the truth in love and prepare to be persecuted like the Master. To be like Him is an honor.

Obedience: Sometimes it's Wrong

A fella commenting on my posts criticizing the Knights of Columbus and calling for reform got highly incensed and shook the dust off his feet when I had the temerity to suggest that Catholics are not obliged to obey their bishops in all things. Now, don't get me wrong, I think obedience is an important virtue. In fact, obedience is closely connected to the virtue of humility. And, as Fr. John Hardon often said, "Only humble people get into heaven." So I take the virtue of obedience seriously. But there is virtuous obedience, blind obedience, and evil obedience. The wise and the prudent need to make distinctions between them.

Clearly, obedience is evil when the order being obeyed involves committing sin. Soldiers who deliberately murder noncombatant civilians because they were "following orders" are guilty of wartime atrocities. No one may obey an evil order. That's the basis for war crime tribunals. Additionally, no one has an obligation to obey evil laws so those who operated the Underground Railroad or ignored the Jim Crow laws or the Nuremburg laws were morally justified. The Chinese who defy the one-child policy are completely right to disobey their evil government. As St. Thomas Aquinas says, an evil law that defies the law of God is no law at all.

Even lawful authority has limits. Children owe obedience to parents and those who serve in place of parents, like teachers, but a parent may not order a child to marry a particular person or follow a particular path in life, and teachers have no right to assign immoral books or films as required material. St. Clare certainly was not guilty of disobedience when she defied her parents and ran away to become a nun.

Bishops have authority and the duty to teach, govern, and sanctify their flocks in the faith. Their authority is intrinsically linked to the authority of the Pope and the Church. When they teach according to the mind of the Church, the flock is bound to obey. But when a bishop steps outside the deposit of the faith to make up his own rules, the laity, and even his priests, do not owe him obedience. Certainly, the priests under Arian bishops had not only the right, but the duty to disobey. Every heresy in the Church that I can think of originated with a cleric. Nestorius was a bishop. Martin Luther was a priest/monk. Arius was a priest. Not much is known about Pelagius, but he is commonly referred to as a British monk. Should the flock have followed these men because they wore Roman collars?

Of course not! And to suggest that blindly obeying clerics is virtuous is clericalism, the attitude that a Roman collar sets a man above all others and he should be obeyed in all matters both religious and secular. What nonsense when bishops throughout history have been responsible for so much evil. It was a bishop who conspired with the English to burn Joan of Arc at the stake. It was the entire bench of bishops in England minus one, John Fisher, who went along with Henry VIII's evil plan to set aside Catherine, marry Ann Boleyn, and declare himself head of the Church. Bishops used clericalism when they browbeat parents of sexually abused children into silence assuring them the matter would be taken care of and then moving the abusers again and again. They accused parents of wanting to destroy the Church. Sadly, the parents' silence enabled the evil to continue for decades. Failing to sound the alarm multiplied the problem exponentially.

To suggest that bishops should be obeyed in all things is just plain absurd.

As for the Knights of Columbus, they have a constitution and by-laws that require all members to be "practical," i.e., practicing Catholics. Those members who commit public scandal by supporting positions that openly defy Church teaching are not eligible to be Knights according to the Knights' own documents. To allow pro-abortion politicians to maintain membership and use it as they politic for reelection is scandalous and scandal is a serious sin. No bishop or pastor has the authority to order a council to admit or maintain the membership of such a knight. Supreme has no right to order councils to retain such members.

The Knights remove those who do not pay their dues. It is ridiculous to assert that they cannot remove a man who publicly advocates the murder of unborn children. I don't, however, suggest that men should quit the Knights in protest. I think they should stay and try to get Supreme and the state councils to change. If they won't, local councils who love the least of God's little ones waiting to be born would do well to vote to leave the Knights as a group and reestablish themselves as independent men's service groups within their parishes. In most cases, the groups would hardly know the difference except for having a lot less paperwork and keeping all their dues money locally.

And think of the impact of many councils leaving with the promise to return when the Knights begin to honor their own constitution and by-laws. The Knights do great good, but they poison the well when they violate their own rules and allow those who publicly defy the Church to remain Knights in good standing. Abortion laws and same sex marriage laws have, in some cases, only passed because of pro-abortion, pro-homosexual knights. That reality is so shameful as to cast a pall on the good the knights do. It must end!

Should a Catholic Support the CCHD (Catholic Campaign for Human Development)?

The CCHD's annual collection is billed as an anti-poverty measure. Who can possibly argue with helping the poor, eh? But since the inception of the collection, a strategy that included collaberation between Msgr. Jack Egan of Chicago and community organizing guru Saul Alinsky, faithful Catholics have complained that much of the money goes into organizing for liberal causes. Many groups supported in the past have direct ties to abortion, contraception, and liberal politics. Opposition to the collection has grown to the degree that CCHD has apparently mounted, not so much a cleanup of the organization, but a new strategy to make opposition difficult.

Let me explain. Traditionally, the collection for CCHD is the weekend before Thanksgiving. But in the past year or so, diocese have taken a new approach to the special collection by taking it up at odd times. As we were passing through South Dakota, the bulletin for the church in Spearfish was advertising it for September. In some places, even the name has changed. The collection in the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. labeled it Communication +. Now isn't that interesting? It comes across to me as a measure to eliminate the effectiveness of the opposition and fool as many people in the pews as possible. What does that say about the bishops' bureaucracy?

Catholics need to be careful about where they put their money. Sadly, in many dioceses, the people in the pew cannot trust that their bishop is protecting the interests of the most vulnerable. When Catholic money goes to organizations that enable the culture of death, it's time to rise in righteous anger and fight. One way is to stop giving to special collections altogether.

In order to get a better idea of how CCHD advances the culture of death, see Stephanie Block's series at SperoForum. And hold on to your wallet. If your diocese collects for CCHD, you can be sure that someone in the chancery is not minding the store.

Silence

Larry and I have been traveling now for three weeks. We've visited eleven states and driven about 3600 miles. When we left home we loaded the car with books on tape and music CDs. Amazingly, we haven't listened to a single one. We haven't listened to the radio either. One of the great gifts of this trip has been silence.

Our world is so noisy. Screwtape wrote to Wormwood that hell was all noise. When I see people plugged into their iPods and on their cell phones before they get out of the driveway, and with stereos blaring... I think of Screwtape. Our world needs more silence. Larry and I have talked through the miles, prayed many rosaries for the intentions of family and friends, and just soaked in the glory of this beautiful country in silence. Who needs artificial noise when the glorious symphony of God's world is playing out before you through the windshield. I hope when we get home in a few weeks we can maintain this appreciation of this great gift of silence.

Thought for the day: Pray for newlyweds

Today we explored Spearfish Canyon in South Dakota. All I can say is WOW! When we stopped at Roughlock Falls we saw a young couple who were getting married there in the beauty of God's creation. We wished them the best and went on about our day of hiking and sightseeing. At dinner tonight who should come into the restaurant still dressed in their wedding finery but the same young couple. On our way out we stopped at their table, reminded them of our meeting earlier in the day and asked their first names so we could pray for them by name. Please join us in praying for Richie and Bryan. We told them we've been married for 42 years and wished them long years of a joyful marriage. It isn't easy to keep your promises in our disposable world. Do something today to build up a married couple you know: pray, send a note, drop off a treat, make a call. Part of our vocation as married couples is to build up the marriages of others. Orate pro invicem. (Let us pray for one another.)

Catholic Hospitals: Part of the Culture of Death?

I have a growing folder on Catholic hospitals. Many are losing, or have already lost, their Catholic identities. Like most Catholic universities, the hospitals are rushing to conform to the age rather than bear witness to the truth and to life. Pray for our poor country.

American

This post is a copy of one I posted to my private blog.  I hope you enjoy it.  Alice

In my last post, I mentioned an interesting conversation I had with Sherrie, my hairdresser of several years.  First though, I have to say, I hate getting my hair done.  Way back in my twenties, I started getting it highlighted.  In all its natural glory, my hair is a very dull and unflattering shade of brown.  Some might call it "mousy" but I think mice are cute and my hair color definitely isn't that.  So coloring it is a necessary evil on the way to that elusive thing called "beauty".  Getting my hair highlighted, cut and blow-dried takes at least two and a half hours.  The results are nice but the chair time is pure torture, worse if the stylist is either not fun to talk to or uses me as a therapist as one short-lived stylist did.  I truly felt like she was a guest on Jerry Springer and, while I tried to give helpful advice, I could see right away that it was a lost cause.  The clincher was when she dribbled hair gunk on my shirt that bleached the color out of the sleeve.
So--I moved on to Sherrie who is cheerful, attractive, nice to talk to and does a consistently good job on my hair.  She is also from Iran.  That comes up occasionally.  I find her stories about life in Iran fascinating.  One time she told me that the penalties for crimes like stealing are so stiff that shops are left wide open in the middle of the day as people go to pray.  Alcohol is illegal.  If a person is caught with it, the consequence is serious jail time.  Even so, citizens, including her brother, make their own wine at home.  Last week, we talked about 9/11.  I asked her if it had a big impact on her.  She shot me a look and said that people here called her and her family "murderers".  She said that it was hard to explain to her son but as an adult, she managed to cope.  She mentioned Timothy McVeigh and said that the fact that he did the unthinkable, didn't make americans in general murderers.  Of course, the unfortunate thing is that Timothy McVeigh's actions did bring shame on all of America just as the pilots on 9/11 put all muslims under a cloud of suspicion.  It's unfair in some ways but is understandable all the same.
I next asked Sherrie about the capture of Osama Bin Laden.  She said, "killing was too good for him.  They should have tortured him first.  Men like that, it's like they have a devil in them."  I didn't know quite what to say to that.
In a related conversation a few days later, Mia asked me, "Mom, why is September 11th sad?"  Mia, like the babies of many killed that day, was on the way when it happened.  So I told her and her younger sisters about the planes, the three that hit the towers and the Pentagon and the one that went down in the field.  They asked a few questions and we moved on with our day.  That night, Grace said to Chris, "Daddy, the people on that plane were really nice"--she meant Flight 93.  "Nice".  Not quite adequate.  But it wasn't lost on me that the girls focused on the "nice", the good, the heroic.  The very things that won the day.  How very american of them.

Say a prayer for Paul from Manassas

We had to travel over a thousand miles to meet someone from our own back yard. The receptionist at the desk at Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine was very friendly. When we told her we were from Virginia she replied saying, "I just talked to someone else from Virginia, a man traveling by himself."

As we were walking up the path to the church for Mass we saw a man coming down. "Are you from Virginia?" I asked. "Yes," he answered looking puzzled. "How did you know?"

"I'm clairvoyant," I laughed. Then admitted the receptionist told us there was a single man from Virginia and I just guessed. We introduced ourselves and then he told us he had recently returned to the Church after 40 years. He was teaching the Bible in a Protestant church, but started having questions that they could't answer. Guess he made a nuisance of himself because they wouldn't let him teach anymore. He didn't exactly explain what brought him back to the faith, but had visited Marian shrines all over the world even before his return. (Hmm...do you detect a little Mother Mary help here?) Paul had just gone to confession but couldn't stay for Mass because he had to get on the road to head home to Virginia. His dad died recently and he was in the area helping his stepmom. (What a good son!)

But that wasn't the only exciting part of his story. Paul's daughter was at a Protestant school and she decided to become Catholic. And now his wife is in RCIA studying the faith.
Well, the Blessed Mother knows all about the Trinity and the domestic church of the family mirrors the Trinity so why not a trinity of conversions.

We ended our conversation saying we would pray for each other, and I urge you to join, not only in praying but in rejoicing. What a meeting of hope there on that hallowed ground in La Crosse on the feast of the Holy Name of Mary. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us.

Sunday Meditation: We are One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church

We began our cross country trip one week ago and in that time we've attended Mass at Sacred Heart in Winchester, VA; St. Joseph's in Marblehead, OH, the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion, WI; and St. Mary's in Bangor, WI. Today being at Sunday Mass I had a sense of the one-ness of the Catholic Church. Larry and I sat in the middle of the congregation and joined in the rosary before Mass. As people came in they entered their pews and knelt to join in the prayers. There were elderly and senior folks like us, families with children and some singles, new babies, small children, and teens. All of us were joined together in the Holy Sacrifice as one human family praying for our loved ones, our neighbors and friends, and for those we'll never meet. We listened to the same gospel reading about the unjust steward that Catholics everywhere heard today. We prayed for the victims of 9/11 and for those who committed the atrocities. There in that little country church we shared in the one-ness of the Catholic Church obeying God's command to "keep holy the Sabbath."

Larry and I were blessed at every church we visited this week to experience a sense of unity in the faith. Of course, there is disunity in the Church as well coming from those who reject Church teachings and foment dissent, but we didn't see them this week. We saw and heard priests teaching the authentic faith and preaching the gospel as Jesus instructed when he sent them out to claim the whole world for himself.

And it gave me hope! Seeing these good country folk praying together and greeting each other after Mass, I am confident that evil will never overcome good. Praised be Jesus Christ!

Do You Know Where You're Going?

I don't know about you, but when I travel I reflect a lot on the journey -- not just the journey on the ribbon highway stretching ahead of me -- but the real journey. The only thing that really counts in life is getting to the goal and the goal for each of us is heaven.

Why did God make us? To know Him, love Him, and serve Him in this world and be happy with Him in the next. That's the goal. But how many in today's world know it? How many have been taught by their parents that everything has a price. The price of heaven is loving God and desiring His will. The price of living as if there is no God and no heaven is probably to lose it in the end. What a tragedy! To trade eternity for the finger snap of this life.

Peter Claver whose feast day is today knew what was important. He devoted his life to serving God's most wretched, the slaves on the ships coming from Africa. How many would go into those stinking holes to tend to the suffering? Few! but Peter Claver did. He tended to the sick and dying and baptized tens of thousands who lived lives of suffering but died like angels.

Many of the saints encourage pondering on the four last things: death, judgment, heaven, and hell. Thinking about those things helps to keep one's mind focused on what really matters.

Today, Larry and I visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help. None of us is alone on the journey. The shrine was filled with reminders that we have many helpers to guide us along the way. Statues of some of my favorite saints were there: Maximilian Kolbe, St. Jean Vianney, St. Clare, St. Francis, St. Michael the Archangel, St. Joseph. There is no excuse not to reach the goal with friends like that to help us.

May we offer each day to the Lord and live it for Him.

Protecting Abortion: Obama's First Priority

Obama is cracking down on peaceful protesters using the unconstitutional FACE  (Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances) ACT. (See here...) This man has one overriding goal -- to protect the murder of children and advance it as much as possible. It's ironic since abortionists target minority babies. One would expect somebody like Michelle Obama, who appears to hate whites, to champion unborn black babies. Instead, she and the pres consider a grandbaby a "punishment". That "Catholic" politician Ted Kennedy set the stage for this persecution of pro-lifers is appalling. Pray for my friend Dick Retta who may become the test case for FACE.

What ever happened to that call for civility?

Liberals are quick to demand civility when they want to criticize conservatives, whether they're talking about Republicans or Tea Party activists. But it's a different story when they're foaming at the mouth with invictive. When Joe Biden called us terrorists it was ho-hum and a yawn. Now Jimmy Hoffa has escalated the "incivility" by describing us as "son of bitches" (bad grammar, as a matter of fact). The White House has made it clear Hoffa won't be challenged. And he has called for war against the president's opponents. When Sarah Palin used the word "target" she was impaled as somebody urging murder. What exactly do people do to their "enemies" in a "war" -- throw marshmallows at them?

This is one more example of liberal hypocrisy. They hold themselves to a different standard -- actually no standard at all except that whatever they do is right. It isn't surprising actually, because a liberal shifts his position every five minutes. So you can't hold him to what he said five minutes ago, because he's moved on to something new.

As for Hoffa and the unions -- what can you expect from a bunch of thugs? There are plenty of good folks in the rank and file, but you don't get to be union boss without being willing to use the brass knuckles. Jimmy Hoffa demonstrates that in spades!

Got Hope? No? Check out this blog!

Despite all the bad news, I find myself filled with hope these days. Why? Because generations X and Y (the birth ages my kids fall into) are picking up the sword of the spirit, the word of God and fighting for the faith. Here's one delightful example, a blog started by my daughter-in-law Martina and a group of her Catholic Facebook Friends. The blog, Catholic Sistas, has numerous contributors, most Catholic mothers of young families.

They understand social media and are using it to spread the good news. They know how to network for good. They remind me of all the communities St. Paul wrote to wrapped up in one and joined electronically. Their blog covers all things Catholic. You find women celebrating big families and some mourning over infertility and child loss. They share serious issues and just for fun stuff. Some home school, some are working moms. They ask for prayer and they offer perspectives on faith issues. And they do it all with such style. The blog only started a few weeks ago and already they have had 5600 visitors, many leaving comments. What a wonderful support group these ladies are for each other and for women in the Church. They reflect the dignity of women Pope John Paul II talked about in his encyclical.

I am so proud of all my children who have unique gifts and talents that they use so well. And I'm proud of my younger, much younger, "sistas" in the Lord who I know will touch many minds and hearts through their on-line friendships.

Do yourself a favor and go mingle with the sistas awhile. It will renew your hope and lighten your heart.

Another Texas Planned Parenthood Closes; Another Manager Converts

Praise God who is working through so many pro-life activists around the country and the world. Here is one more opportunity to "give a reason for the hope that is within you." Pause and say a prayer of thanksgiving for the closing of the Sherman, TX Planned Parenthood and the conversion of its former manager, Ramona Trevino. Halleluia! While Ramona says they didn't do abortion, we all know that many chemical birth control methods DO cause abortion, so this closing will, in fact, save babies from death.

Want to Join Us on our Cross Country Trip?

If you do, visit my Gramma blog, where I'll be posting updates and photos. Please pray for us as we will be praying for all of you. We plan for this to be a combination adventure/pilgrimage as we visit churches around the country and pilgrimage sites. We've been talking about doing this for years and decided we'd better follow through while we can still walk. I'll still be blogging at Les Femmes as well as posting updates about our trip. It's amazing what you can do with technology. I can hook up my computer in the car and blog along the way when I'm not watching the scenery or we're not praying the rosary. I hope you enjoy being virtual passengers as we travel.

Sunday Meditation: Is Your Trumpet Rusting from Misuse?

In the Bible, the trumpet is an instrument of warning, not too different from the tornado sirens in some towns right here in the U.S. An advance warning can save lives. And that's what today's reading from Chapter 3 of the prophet Ezekiel is all about.

Ezekiel was the first prophet called to speak for the Lord outside the Holy Land. Exiled to Babylon by King Nebubuchednezzar around 600 B.C. along with many of his fellow Israelites, he prepared the people for the destruction of Jerusalem. To a jew, such an event was unthinkable. The holy city and the temple were inviolable. But destruction was exactly what the sinfulness of God's people brought about despite the fact that many false prophets refused to blow the trumpet. Here's what we heard this morning:

Do You Pray for Abortion Workers?

They're watching. They know you're there. If they're angry, it's because you've pricked their consciences. Pray, pray, pray for those engaged in the diabolical work of killing the innocent. Pray for those who assist them. Pray for abortionists, nurses, receptionist, deathscorts. Their conversion is longed for by Jesus. And maybe, just maybe, the lost will be found because of your prayers. Never give up. Pray while you witness at the abortion mills. Pray at Mass and at adoration and in your home. Pray at Life Chain and at 40 Days for Life. Never give up on the lost sheep. They need you!

Your Boyfriend May Be a Loser If....

Well, you'll just have to go visit this smart gal's blog if you want to know the answer. She is right on target. Sad to say, I know a number of young women who have fallen for the siren song. Some are living with boyfriends without benefit of marriage and having children. Others let the deadbeat live in their apartments lazing around while they go to work and keep him in the manner his mommy accustomed him to. Wake up, girls. Life is to short to spend it either enabling a loser or being one yourself!

Swiss Educators are Child Molesters!

‘Sex box’ for Swiss kindergarteners has genitalia toys: will teach sexuality is pleasurable

Isn't it interesting that at the same time "safe touch" programs are supposedly teaching kids to protect themselves from predators, schools, like those in Basel, Switzerland, are teaching them using model genitalia and having them massage each other with "warm sandbags." (Kindergarten boys would rather throw sandbags at each other than massage each other with them!)

Here's an excerpt from the article:
The kit for teachers to give sex-education lessons to primary school children uses models and recommends having children massage each other or to rub themselves with warm sand bags, accompanied by soft music, according to The Local, a Swiss newspaper in English.

“Children should be encouraged to develop and experience their sexuality in a pleasurable way,” Daniel Schneider, a deputy kindergarten rector for Basel who helped develop the sex ed curriculum along with experts, had said earlier this year. He added, “It’s important that they learn to say no if they don’t want to be touched in a certain area.”
Just envision the scene. Little Johnny is in "sex box" class. Teacher has the children rubbing each other with warm sandbags. He fills in with individual children. (Use your imagination.) "Is it okay to touch you here? How about here? Does that feel good? Do you want me to touch you here? Why don't you rub yourself here"

Well, maybe the teacher won't do it in class. Maybe it will be an older child in the neighborhood who had the fourth grade version of "sex box" and demonstrates what he learned on little Sally and Tommy who are five years younger.

This is nothing but grooming children for pedophiles.

To see photos of the materials used in sex box go here. As for the developers of this, they are the "professional" version of the guy in the bushes in a trenchcoat waiting for his victims.  Parents in Switzerland are up in arms, but the program is mandatory and they will not be allowed to opt out. Isn't it interesting that Switzerland is the same place where they have suicide mills. The culture of death is on the fast track there. First kill the body, then kill innocence. The only solution to this kind of evil is to pray and fast and work to evangelize and convert the culture. Shine the light on evil and advance the light. And may God protect the children.

Meet a new contributor to Les Femmes

I want to welcome a new contributor to the Les Femmes blog, Alice Doyle. Alice is a home schooling mother of five daughters age 16 to three, who is also a part-time college Spanish professor and amateur photographer. here's what she says about herself on her blog profile:
Wife. Mother, Teacher and Writer. My heroes: Anne Shirley, Sarah Crewe, Patty Bergen, Elizabeth Bennett, Laura Ingalls, Thomas More, Ignatius of Loyola, Joan of Arc, Mother Teresa, CS Lewis and Stonewall Jackson. Thank you for reading!
Here's Alice's contribution, the first of what I hope will be many more!

But For The Grace

I've been listening to a bit of sports radio lately. My husband, Chris, has it on in the Pilot so, when I drive that car, I catch up on how the other half thinks. I don't know about you but I find it truly amazing that men can remember every important sports moment and have an opinion on everything related to, say, football, but can never seem to remember the details of a conversation--like the name of a friend's new baby. Truly a mystery, no?

But that's not the subject of this post. Yesterday, when I turned the key and backed out of the driveway, host Colin Cowherd was talking about Michael Vick. He was commenting that he couldn't go so far as to say that MV is evil, he simply assumes that Vick is missing something in his brain, an important part, one that would tell him that something like watching two dogs tear each other apart is evil. I'm guessing that Cowherd was responding to a call about Michael Vick's new contract. Perhaps the caller brought up Vick's transgressions and the "injustice" of his multi-million dollar paycheck in light of his past. I don't know. What I do know is that Cowherd's comments made me cringe--a feeling that had less to do with the specifics of Michael Vick and his circumstances than with the enormous lack of a sense of "there, but for the grace of God, go I" that I encounter over and over in my life.

Government Gun-Running Scandal Grows

"Fast and Furious," the ATF's mad scheme to sell guns to Mexican drug cartels which resulted in the death of a federal agent, Brian Terry, grows more bizarre by the day. At least three White House officials, national security advisers, were briefed on Fast and Furious and knew ATF was selling assault weapons to enemies of this country. The guns have been used in at least 28 violent crimes both here and in Mexico. There is also evidence that the U.S. Attorney's Office covered up the connection between Fast and Furious and Terry's death.

Who was Brian Terry? Read his family's description of him given in testimony to Congress. Terry's murder wasn't just the act of one criminal. It was enabled by the ATF, the same bureau that killed Randy Weaver's wife and twelve-year-old son and planned and carried out an assault on the Branch Davidians that killed 76 members of the community including twenty children and several pregnant women. The Randy Weaver and Waco debacles are a tragic examples of out-of-control government playing cowboy. The local sheriff in Waco said all they had to do was go up and knock on the door. He had visited the compound often and even been to the shooting range with David Koresh, the clan leader. In the subsequent trial of the Branch Davidian survivors, all were found not guilty of conspiring to murder federal agenst (although they were found guilty on lesser charges) due to the brutal and unprovoked attack on the compound.

It was no surprise to me to hear about Fast and Furious. An agency that shoots a twelve-year-old in the back and assaults American citizens guilty of little more than being different will do anything. My only question is who's next?

Planned Parenthood; It's all about killing minority babies.

Did you hate "Hilly" in The Help because of her contempt and prejudice against blacks? She was downright philanthropic compared to the black family's public enemy #1, Planned Parenthood.

Report Proves Planned Parenthood Targets Blacks, Hispanics

Here's an excerpt from the article:
"Abortion advocates have always claimed that their main goal is to reduce unintended pregnancies and, by placing abortion centers and Planned Parenthood clinics in minority communities, abortion backers claimed their focus wasn’t promoting abortions to blacks and Hispanics but to help them reduce the number of unplanned pregnancies by promoting birth control and contraception.

“'If that is true, in light of their concession that they have focused these things on the minority community, the obvious result should be that black women have the lowest pregnancy and abortion rates in the country,' they researchers write. Yet, a new study released by the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute, a former Planned Parenthood research affiliate, shows birth control and contraception are not reducing abortions and unplanned pregnancies, especially in lower income minority areas.

“'But to the contrary, in contemporary America, the rate of pregnancy among black women is almost three times as high as it is for white women and, though they make up less than 13% of the female population, black women have about 37% of the abortions,' the researchers write.
Planned Parenthood doesn't just want to relegate poor blacks to the bathroom in the garage; they want to eliminate them altogether. Liberal, well-educated blacks are okay to them (in limited numbers), but poor minorites are just human weeds to them -- just like they were to their founder, Margaret Sanger.
