Are We Warriors for Christ Like St. Pius V?
Today is the feast of St. Pius V, the pope who saved the West from Islam. Had he not raised the Holy League under the leadership of Don John of Austria, today we would all likely be answering the Muslim call to prayer instead of responding to the bells of our local churches to come and worship Jesus Christ.

"Mayday, Mayday" -- Rallies around the Country on Friday, May 1st Saying OPEN THE STATES! Respond with Prayer!
Friday is May Day. And groups are holding rallies in most states calling for an end to the lockdowns. Isn't it interesting that the international distress signal is "mayday." We certainly are in distress in the United States and if the lockdown isn't lifted soon we may all learn what it was like for our parents and grandparents to go through the Great Depression.
More From Dr. Erickson and Dr. Massihi on the Ingraham Angle. OPEN THE COUNTRY!
These guys are impressive and they are on the front lines. It's way past time to reopen the country. And Dr. Birx's statement that people at fall weddings will have to wear masks is outrageous! I'm sure not wearing one to my granddaughter's wedding! If I'm sick I won't go. If I'm not I'll put on my dancing shoes and enjoy every minute with family.
Are You and I Willing to Die for the Faith? St. Stephen, Pray for Us.
For some reason, I got it into my head this morning that today is the feast of St. Stephen. I must have been suffering a senior moment. (Is that a symptom of COVID 19)? I know it's not the feast of St. Stephen, so where did that come from? (His feast is actually December 26th.)

The COVID 19 Strategy Makes No Scientific Sense! Time to Take on the Tyrants!
UPDATE: APRIL 28TH 11:00 P.M -- Laura Ingraham just announced that the video by the two doctors has been removed from You Tube because anything that questions the World Health Organization narrative "violates their terms of service." The videos below were taken down, but fortunately they are still available on the TV station's website for now. Pray that these don't disappear as well and watch now before they do. Giant corporations like Google, Facebook, and YouTube control the narrative. For a partial transcript go here.
On the way home from Mass at the fairgrounds yesterday with my husband and a fellow parishioner, we were talking about the necessity for someone to stand up to our tyrannical governor. "What would happen," I asked, "if a local mayor or town council or county board of supervisors met with health officials and the local police department and opened up our local businesses with safety guideline recommendations in place?" Just tell the governor to go fly a kite at his beach house in North Carolina.

Sunday Meditation: Don't Be Detoured from Authentic Spirituality
Don't let the deceiver lead you off on a disastrous detour! |
by Fr. Tom Collins
One of the most serious problems in the spiritual lives of so many people is the fact that they fail to assess critically the foundational premises of their spiritualities.
There is an adage, “Well begun is half done”. If our premises are correct, it is much more likely that we will arrive at the right conclusion.

The SSPX Revisited
Before I get into the subject of the post, I want to address Church Militant's (CM) April 22nd exposé about the SSPX. Yes I watched the Vortex and read the report. It's horrifying if true, just like the horrifying information about bishops and priests all over the country (and world) that we've been steeped in for years.

Guest Post: The Mask - A Security Blanket for Adults imposed by "Omnipotent Moral Busybodies"
Today I was thrown out of a post office because I did not have a mask. No, the post office was not in the Deutsche Demokratische Republik, aka East Germany, it was in Silver Spring Maryland. I stopped in to get a free small flat rate box and the check on the amount of postage required. If it were possible, I would have mailed my item but, since I was being hollered at and told to leave, I left.

Our Lady Running to Meet Her Son, The Resurrected Lord
La Madonna che scappa, or the Runaway Madonna, is a pious ritual held every Easter Sunday in Sulmona, Italy. (A large statue of) Mary, dressed in black and keening while swaying back and forth, suddenly sees the resurrected Lord. As she sees the living Christ, her black shroud is cast off, exchanged for a garment of green (the color of life), and, as white doves fly up around her, she rushes to meet her Son. This spectacular theatrical re-enactment, one of the biggest events in Italy, has been acted out for centuries in Sulmona by the Confraternita di Santa Maria di Loreto. The full experience begins on Friday night and ends with Mary rushing to greet Our Risen Lord. So, next year in Sulmona?

Father makes an important and sad point:
The sex abuse crisis within the Church, along with an increasingly top-heavy bureaucracy, has – arguably – caused a kind of institutional paralysis....How else can we explain the general institutional failure to guard religious liberty during the pandemic? Historians will forever argue whether respect for the common good, fear of legal action, or servile fear, motivated Church authorities to meekly comply with government edicts. Regardless, the Church’s bureaucratic behemoth – and virtually every Catholic parish and entity – have submitted.

The Improbability of Turning On Faith That Has Been Extinguished
There are
good days and then there are bad days in all our lives. For the most part I have endured this
lockdown in my home as well as anyone due in large part to the fact I am not
alone. I share the confinement with a
loving patient husband. I receive much
satisfaction from the daily texts I get from friends in Chicago and Texas and I
look forward each morning to opening my email and reading the newest posts on
my favorite Catholic websites. I am supported
by my children who are busy with their own lives, but never forget to check in
with their parents.

The Coronavirus Toll Nobody's Talking About

Let me repeat that. 98% of those contracting the virus do NOT die.
You can be excused for not knowing that in view of the fact that the media and the "experts" beat the doom drums daily to justify their continued draconian approach including some who now say the country must be shut down for 18 months (or until a vaccine is developed) and things will never go back to normal!

Science has not made us smarter but more afraid. This over dependence on science has left us feeling extremely vulnerable. A Time to Laugh: When Trolls Crawl Out from under their Rocks
A troll dressed like an angel is still a troll. |
I wrote about trolls and tattletales last week describing several as being like "moths to a flame" flapping around my blog. Before I continue, let's define the noun troll and the verb to troll:
verb: to antagonize (others) online by deliberately posting inflammatory, irrelevant, or offensive comments or other disruptive content;...to harass, criticize, or antagonize (someone) especially by provocatively disparaging or mocking public statements, postings, or acts.
noun: one who does these thingsI've stopped posting comments by trolls since they add nothing to the conversation as you'll see by the two most recent comments. They mostly engage in ad hominem attacks. I guess they figure if only they throw enough rocks or shoot enough darts, they'll knock you down and metaphorically kill you off. Fat chance!

Roberto de Mattei urges us in this time of crisis:
In the hour of spiritual emptiness, the souls of those who have faith, turn instinctively to the One, Who is never empty, since She is filled with all the graces: the Most Blessed Virgin Mary. Only in Her, can the soul find the spiritual and moral fullness, that St. Peter’s Square and the countless closed churches now no longer offer.Let us be diligent in praying the rosary and begging Our Lady's intercession.
Lord Jesus, have mercy on us.
Mother of Mercy, pray for us.
Easter in the Trenches: Watch Out, Tyrants, the Lawsuits are Coming!
The Roman Tyrant, Nero |
I wrote the other day about the thugs and tyrants who embrace the coronavirus with enthusiasm as a means to control and oppress. Sad to say they've been emboldened by the virus and the pandemic of fear surrounding it. The Democrat party overflows with these thugs! [I recommend the Ron Paul video at the link above if you haven't watched it yet!]
Remember the story of Nero who started a fire in Rome as a pretext to murder Christians? Some of our own home-grown thugs are channeling Nero today. Let's look at a few (emphasis in italics is mine):
- Democrat Gov. Andy Beshear of Kentucky who's instructing police to record the license plates of Americans who attend Easter services so he can send his brownshirts from the health department to their homes to demand 14 days of
house arrestself-quarantine because, “If you’re going to expose yourself to this virus, it’s not fair to everybody else out there that you might spread it to.... Understand, this is the only way we can ensure your decision doesn’t kill somebody else.”

The Passion by Brickfilm: An Alternative to the Passion of the Christ for Children
We own The Passion of the Christ movie, but I haven't watched it this year. The scourging scene and all the abuse to Christ is so graphic I dread to even think of it. So yesterday I read the meditation in A Doctor at Calvary, but haven't and may not watch the film. It certainly is no movie for children!
But the Brickfilm movie can help them understand what Christ suffered to save us. Parents should preview the movie and consider how appropriate it is for a given child. Some older children are so sensitive that even this depiction would be upsetting. But then, the crucifixion should be upsetting! Anyone not moved by the sufferings of Christ would not be moved by the murder of babies!

The Corporal Passion of Jesus Christ from Doctor at Calvary by Dr. Pierre Barbet
Every Good Friday between 12 noon and 3 p.m. I try to read Pierre Barbet's meditation on the Passion. Barbet was a surgeon who studied the wounds on the Shroud of Turin and wrote a book about his finding, A Doctor at Calvary.
It is a difficult meditation and one that I can never read without tears as he admits he does himself. But if you truly want to walk the way of the cross with Jesus, you can hardly find a more truthful companion than Barbet.
If you would like to read it, the book is online here. The meditation begins on page 187 in the book, page 213 of the PDF.
May God bless your meditations on this oh-so-strange Good Friday of 2020. And may you receive all the blessings of Our Divine Lord's passion and resurrection.
I also invite you to respond to Archbishop Vigano's call for all the bishops and priests of the world to join in Pope Leo XIII's exorcism prayer against the virus tomorrow, Holy Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. Rome time which is 9:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time.

"More Freedom, Not More Thugs Running Our Lives"
When I watched this video I thought of all the thugs of the Passion: the Pharisees plotting and clamoring for crucifixion, the false witnesses lying about Jesus, the name callers screaming "Blasphemer! Son of Beelzebub!," the temple guards with their clubs and torches, the betrayer with his poisonous kiss, the cowardly authority too afraid of the mob to defend the Truth. They were all there and they are with us today on this Good Friday.

Fr. Tom Collins: WE PROCLAIM CHRIST CRUCIFIED!
How many bishops, priests and laity, pay lip service to the faith, but don't live it? |
This danger is compounded by the rather apparent inability of the Church’s hierarchy to unite in both proclaiming and holding themselves accountable to the whole truth of God. The doctrine that the Church always and everywhere proclaims the same saving truths seems to be more of a myth than a reality, as so many of our leaders promote such deviations from divine truth as the supremacy of sin-seared consciences over such truth, a tolerance for various forms of sexual perversions, the promotion of codependence as a form of compassion and the displacing of the doctrine of evocation (i.e., God is calling forth all of Creation into a more profound communion with His sanctifying love and truth) with the new paradigm of a self-gratifying and self-fulfilling evolution.

Yes, Catholics, You May Attend an SSPX Mass!
Are empty churches a metaphor for the lost faith of so many Catholics including bishops & priests? |
Although I'm grateful for televised Masses for shut-ins, I can't watch the Mass on TV without being disturbed and upset. Why is that, I've wondered? This morning, as I was praying, and reading St. Jean Vianney's 25th Eucharistic Meditation (on attending daily Mass) as the "sermon," I received the answer.

Weird! It's the Madhatter's Tea Party!
I visited my spiritual director today and we agreed that the times are weird. Very weird! I've
described them as "surreal." Some days I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone. Other days it's more like the Madhatter's tea party. Frankly, I'd like to join the dormouse and go to sleep until it's all over!
Holy Week Monday: It begins. The repentant woman anoints Jesus for his burial....
And standing behind at his feet, she began to wash his feet, with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment....And turning to the woman, he said unto Simon: Dost thou see this woman? I entered into thy house, thou gavest me no water for my feet; but she with tears hath washed my feet, and with her hairs hath wiped them. Thou gavest me no kiss; but she, since she came in, hath not ceased to kiss my feet.My head with oil thou didst not anoint; but she with ointment hath anointed my feet. Wherefore I say to thee: Many sins are forgiven her, because she hath loved much. But to whom less is forgiven, he loveth less. (Luke 7:44ff)

Question for the Day: Is the Pope Catholic?
Will someone not rid me of this troublesome archbishop? |
It used to be a joke. Someone would ask a rhetorical question, the answer an obvious and emphatic yes:
Question: Do bees buzz? (As a beekeeper I had to get that one in!)
Answer: Is the pope Catholic?Unfortunately, in the era of Pope Francis, the answer is no longer a rhetorical "obvious and emphatic yes."
Does the pope, in fact, exhibit a Catholic mind and heart? Or does he join the list of popes and anti-popes who scandalized the faithful and took wrecking balls to the Church?

Churches locked but bi$hop$ still want The Money. O.Ver.My.Cold.Dead.Body.
No Mass, no Sacraments, no Easter but bishops want the flow of $$$$$ to continue unabated. |
A Mark, a Yen, a Buck or a Pound
Is all that makes the world go around,
That klinking, clanking sound,
Can make the world (of the bishops) go 'round.
(notice the bishop's Emcee' gold teeth @ 0:25 in video below)
After decades of offering stones to the faithful, the bishops suddenly have links to orthodox websites and activities for the laity to engage in "to keep our Faith", "to be close to Jesus" while we're now jobless and imprisoned in our homes. To remind you of the stones we are given, here's a partial list posted in the comment section of one of last year's blog posts. Thank you to the unknown person who sent this.

When the Lord Comes Will He Find Faith on the Earth?
I have always loved the story of the presentation, especially since I entered the ranks of "seniors." Simeon and Anna seem to me to be the icons of old age. They practically lived at the Temple praying for the coming of the Messiah, and they received the grace of seeing Him in the flesh....and holding Him in their arms. How I want to be like them!

Fr. Tom Collins: "Through Him and with Him and in Him" - The Great Forfeiture
Editor's note: A forfeiture is "the loss or giving up of something as a penalty for wrongdoing." Reflect on that definition as you read Father's column on the "Great Forfeiture."
Our Lord and Savior gave Himself up as a holocaust on the altar of sacrifice as a penalty for OUR sins, the innocent Lamb of God. And yet, as Father points out, we do not lose Him in the giving up. In His gracious mercy He abides with us still in all the tabernacles of the world even til the end of time.
Even during this time of pain and suffering and loss of the Mass, when so many churches are actually closed and locked, He remains with us. If they lock us out of our local church (as they've done to churches in Pittsburgh where my daughter lives) I will be kneeling on the steps outside gazing at the tabernacle through the glass doors and praying. May God have mercy on us in this time when the faith of many is wavering as they put their trust in the CDC rather than in Almighty God. Prudence is one thing; fear and panic is quite another.
