Our family did and it was so inspiring. We heard him constantly praising God and praying to Jesus. But that disappeared from the media coverage. Honest bunch, eh? Wouldn't want to offend anybody -- except almighty God.
Jesus "Omitted" from Niagara Falls Crossing
I'm not sure what you are talking about; I saw gus praying on ABC News in its coverage.
ReplyDeleteWell...quite honestly, I have a problem with this. I always understood it was a sin to place yourself in mortal peril without grave cause. I can't understand a guy walking a tightrope across Niagara Falls to be doing anything else.
ReplyDeleteI'm inclined to agree, Anita, although he was not in mortal peril since he was required to wear a harness by ABC. But when you think that the Church has often assigned chaplains to the circus where performers, like the trapeze artists, don't use nets...well, I just don't know. And then consider things like rodeos with bull riding, bull fighting, boxing, etc. even high diving and gymnastics where a bad landing can give you a broken back or neck. Something to ponder.
ReplyDeleteThere is one particular logger on a television show about logging, which still can be very dangerous, who never uses bad language on the program, but instead says, "Jesus I trust in you." which my husband and I thoroughly enjoy. It is good for us to pray for these men and women too. The wives of these men often suffer a lot of hardship too. I keep a Rosary and Jesus Prayer rope in my car, so I can say good things in traffic and not use bad language if some other motorist irritates me. One cannot always meditate on the Mysteries of the Rosary during heavy traffic, but one can use either one to say the Rosary prayers or the Jesus Prayer; "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mecy on me a sinner."
