The West Coast Religious Education Conference has been spewing evil and scandalizing catechists for years. Oh sure, they have some good speakers, but any good they do is smothered by the abject evil being promoted which is then taken home and passed on to the children in Catholic schools and religious education programs. Check out these links about the conference (a handful from among many) and then I'll describe the latest atrocity.
2012 Congress supports Obama, masturbation, and gay priests
2009 Congress features long list of dissenters - exactly what religion is promoted?
2007 Congress promotes occult, gay priests, and dissent
This year's congress once again promoted homosexuality, but so blatantly and so directly it's breathtaking. LifeSiteNews reported on it:
Speaking at the conference of 800 catechists from the U.S. and Canada, Arthur Fitzmaurice, the resource director for the Oakland-based Catholic Association for Lesbian and Gay Ministry a former co-chair of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles' Catholic Ministry with Lesbian and Gay Persons, criticized what he called the Church’s “poor and dangerous theology” on homosexuality and its practice of firing homosexual employees when they came “out.”...
Fitzmaurice spoke at the event, which is often criticized for its dissident speakers and liturgical abuses, despite the fact that the Catholic Association for Lesbian and Gay Ministry has crossed swords with its own bishop in Oakland. Shortly before his appointment as archbishop of San Francisco, then-Oakland Bishop Salvatore Cordileone issued an ultimatum to the group, saying that after a year of talks he would declare it “not authentically Catholic” if it refused to endorse traditional Church teaching on sexuality.
At the Los Angeles conference, Fitzmaurice told the assembly that the references to homosexuality in the Catholic Catechism are hurtful to homosexuals, especially young people, and drive them from the Church. “The paragraph on homosexuality, which describes it as ‘intrinsically disordered’ while also demanding respect for gays and lesbians, is placed in a section of the catechism paragraphs condemning ‘pornography, prostitution, and rape,’” he said. “To keep this abusive language in the Catechism and other Church writings is, in itself, gravely evil.”
Fitzmaurice also condemned the dismissal of homosexuals from Church and parochial school jobs and the denial of sacraments to homosexuals. These “reinforce the false message that being born LGBTQ is shameful” and “communicates the sentiment that we are beyond God’s abilities and unreachable by God’s love and grace.”Let me emphasize what he said. CHURCH DOCTRINE ON HOMOSEXUALITY IS "ABUSIVE" AND "GRAVELY EVIL." Wow! And this is what those who form the children are being told at a (so-called) CATHOLIC conference.
Homosexual speakers like Fitzmaurice deliberately blur the line between the disordered affliction of same-sex attraction which is not morally evil with the decision to act on the attraction and engage in sinful behavior. The Catechism does not condemn the person; it condemns the sin.
Fitzmaurice also promotes the lie that homosexuals are "born LGBTQ." By pretending that a disordered attraction to depraved sinful behavior is inborn, homosexual activists link their cause to civil rights and can play the discrimination card. And how effectively the lie has worked is obvious in the attack on Archbishop Cordileone and anyone who dares to speak publicly about the disordered nature of same-sex attraction and the depravity of sodomite behavior.
That so many ordinary Catholics have embraced and now champion the lie makes me fear for my country and my Church. I've been reading about the French Revolution and the immorality preceding it reminds me of what's happening today. As we see "heads roll" figuratively among those who dare to stand up to the homosexual activists, it should drive us to our knees with rosaries in our hands. I'm afraid we ain't seen nothing yet!
Glad you posted on this - I've referenced it in my posts. It just reveals how deeply embedded homosexual 'theory' has infiltrated Catholic education, it explains why Archbishop Cordilieone has faced so much resistance, as well as why Catholic speakers such as Sr. Jane Dominic O.P. are personae non grata at Catholic schools and educational conferences. This is Scandalous with a capital "S".
