Sunday Meditation: "Fear is Useless; What's Needed is Trust..."

Our Lady's Lamp reminds us of God's love for his people!
"Blessed is the man whose hope is the Lord."  Jeremiah 17:7
...and a double serving of hope which is implied in the word trust. After all, if we are in need and turn to someone don't we hope that they will assist or guide us? Sometimes they don't. But whom can we count on to NEVER fail us?

Certainly putting our trust in fallible men is foolish even when we need to depend on them for help. With men, we need to follow Reagan's advice, "Trust but verify." Not so with the Lord. His love never fails.

Every day when I say my morning prayers I make an act of hope. "O my God, relying on Your almighty power and infinite mercy and promises, I hope in the forgiveness of sins, the help of Your grace, and life everlasting through the merits of Your Son Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer."

As I was browsing internet news this morning, I came across an article about the upcoming super moon November 13 and 14, expected to be the most spectacular since 1948. The moon is often called Our Lady's Lamp. Now isn't that a hopeful sign that only a week after the election God is giving us a reminder of Our Lady's importance in our world? She has the answers and will lead us straight to the source of all our hope, her Son Jesus Christ. Our Lady, help of Christians, pray for us.

As we prepare for Tuesday's election, I'm turning to the Lord in hope. He will never abandon us and since I don't put my trust in men, whatever happens on Tuesday I will be praising the Lord and thanking Him for his love and mercy. I hope and trust in Him and embrace the truth of one of my favorite Scripture passages from Romans, "All things work together for good for them who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose." Let us love the Lord with our whole heart, mind, soul, and strength and answer His call to serve.

May Jesus Christ be praised!

  1. Thanks for this Mary Ann! We needed this word of encouragement after all the sheer EVIL that has been revealed to us through Wiki Leaks and FBI/NYPD leaks. It does indeed look to human eyes as if we have already been defeated by the enormity of the filth spewing forth from our so called leaders, and the sure promise that they will try to steal this election by whatever means necessary. But..........NOTHING and NO ONE will defeat the Lord God who promises us He will NEVER leave us! Whatever happens on Tuesday, HE HAS OUR BACK. I have to keep reminding myself of the words of John Paul ll..........."BE NOT AFRAID"!!
