Behold the Lamb of God. |
What are you looking for? Isn't that the question in every person's heart. What AM I looking for? St. Augustine says our hearts are restless and, in fact, they are as long as we have not found the right answer to that question.
What are you looking for? What do you want? Money? Power? Authority? Honor? Beauty?
Why?
What are you looking for? What were Andrew and John looking for when they followed Jesus? They answered Jesus' question with one of their own. "Where are you staying?" Was it because they could not answer His question. Did they not know what they were looking for?
How many of us muddle along not knowing why we are restless or what we are looking for? How much of our lives is spent in a meandering search like the protagonist of the Hound of Heaven?
And then the invitation from Jesus: "Come and see."
What did Andrew and John see when they followed Jesus? Did Jesus cure a leper? Did he restore sight to a blind man? Or did they see only with the eyes of heart when his words stirred them to their very depths?
First Jesus invited them to "Come and see" and later to "Come and follow me."
What are you looking for in this new year of 2018? Are you on a path to find your true heart's desire? Or are you wandering restless in a worldly wilderness of confusion?
