Fred Rogers was smarter than the Pontifical Council for the Family. |
This came as no surprise to me. When I read Amoris Laetitia (AL) it was clear that the document wasn't just targeting the indissolubility of marriage. It also targeted our children. I was shocked when hardly anybody paid attention to the disrespect shown toward parents in the document.
Topsy and Tuptim pegged it when they discussed Chapter 7, although they glossed over the paragraphs on sex ed. But it was clear as a bell that parents and extended family can't do the job of raising children. Nope, they need "the professionals."
For years, the Church warned against classroom sex ed. Now the Pontifical Council for the Family (PCF) is pushing aside the prudent actions of past magisterial teaching to foist one more sex ed program (Planned Parenthood lite) on children complete with sexually explicit photographs. The particular danger of the photos is that, like pornography, they imprint on the imagination. The devil can use imprinted images to fill young people's minds with temptation: impure thoughts stimulated by the images, dreams incorporating the images, occasions that remind one of the impure images, etc. This is directly inserting evil into the minds and hearts of children. I'm appalled, but not shocked. Nothing that comes out of Pope Francis' Vatican shocks me.
Pray to Our Lady of Fatima. It is likely that the unrevealed part of the Third Secret was the betrayal of the Church at her highest levels. That's what we are seeing and faithful Catholics must oppose it. Fred Rogers knew how to approach sex-ed with children. No graphic pictures, just a celebration of our goodness and our differences. And note that he knew what the gender promoting liberals don't -- that "boys are boys from the beginning; girls are girls right from the start." Fred Rogers could teach the PCF and Pope Francis something about educating for love. Maybe I'll send the pope the complete series of Mr. Rogers Neighborhood.
