In the Year 2525 (Exordium and Terminus)

This song has been on my mind for several days. I remember when it was a No 1 hit by Zager and Evans in 1969. It was difficult to make a decision as to which video to post so I posted four of them. With the invention of Sophia by Hanson Robotics will man even make it to 2525?

  1. Seems to me the title and first rhyme of that song was surely inspired by/cribbed from the famous poem "Paul Revere's Ride" by Henry W. Longfellow [ca. 1840], which back in the day, when patriotism was still a virtue, we schoolchildren were encouraged to read, recite, and even memorize. It starts out like this [if memory serves!]:

On the nineteeth of April of 'seventy-five --
Hardly a man is now alive
Who remembers that fateful day and year --
And the midnight ride of Paul Revere.

[ to warn the patriots of Lexington and Concord that, "The British are coming" -to confiscate their weapons - but the patriots used those weapons to defeat the British and send them High-tailing back to Boston. Ah, those were the days!
