Woman of the Apocalypse Revelation 12 |
When the Blessed Mother isn't busy beating Lucifer back with a club or stomping on top of him while sticking a sword down his throat, she's the sweet doe-eyed mother of Christ, gently cradling him in her arms. Lucifer isn't fooled by her sweetness since he's the recipient of her motherly no-prisoners taken, sword-wielding protection over the Child Jesus.
Satan knows Mary's power. He hates her. Wants to destroy her, kill her. He will not serve God because of her since he wanted to be the highest of all created beings...of all God's creatures he wanted to be the highest. He wanted to be Mary! But God chose a humble human woman to be the Christ Bearer. The indignity of it all! Lucifer's "I will not serve!" not only means a rebellion against God but also an intrinsic hatred of the Blessed Mother. Of women.
Since God did not allow the Blessed Mother to be killed by Lucifer, Lucifer then will kill her in our minds. He will make her less than nothing...actually nothing at all...to us. The Blessed Mother is a woman, but, really, what is a woman after all? No one can define what a woman is anymore. No one knows. Everyone is confused. A woman is no longer a person of concrete definition.
A he can be a she. A man can be a woman. A woman can be a man. A man can menstruate. He can have a baby. A woman can have a penis. A man can have female reproductive organs. A woman can have her breasts cut off, take male hormones, grow facial hair and declare herself to be a man. A man can grow his hair long, wear prosthetic breasts, declare himself to be a woman, and everyone takes him at his word that suddenly he's magically a woman. Drag queens, transgender women, transgender men, doctors hacking women's breasts off and reconfiguring female genitals into a penis, making a penis into a vagina... all of this makes it easy to think that God made no such creature as a woman way back in the Garden of Eden...that it's all a myth seen through the wafting morning fog...the mists of time...a woman is nothing... nothing at all really.
Mary is "the woman clothed in the sun" from Revelation 12. However Lucifer would have us question that fact. How do we know that's a woman clothed in the sun? What is a woman after all since no one can decipher an answer to that seemingly problematic question. That person up there clothed in the sun might be a man dressed like a woman. Or a surgically transformed transgender woman. Or, God forbid, an evil misogynist drag queen. Who knows anymore? Mary isn't powerful. She can't be since no one can define what she is. A woman? No. She's a nothing. A zero. A cipher. That's what Lucifer would have us think.
He wants to negate from our minds that she's the All Powerful Mother of God. The Theotokos. The flying with "two wings of a great eagle" (Revelation 12:14), devil-smashing leader of Christ's army whose one look frightens demons, screaming in terror, away. A mother protecting her young stabbing the daylights out of those trying to devour her children. A warrior, flogging the devil with a club pounding him into dust, and knowing precisely how to maneuver a spear into the mouth of Satan. When she gets through doing all that, she goes back to innocently rocking Baby Jesus in his cradle.
Yes, the Devil most certainly knows that Mary is a woman as well as exactly what woman she is. She's the Daughter of the Father, the Mother of the Son and the Spouse of the Holy Spirit who possesses a humility more powerful than Lucifer's pride.
Wow, Susan! What a powerful piece praising the Holy Mother of God, our twelve-star general as Fr. Norman Weslyn (Fr. Baby Doe) used to say. May we all imitate her defense of the innocent and never lose heart over the mudballs launched by the evil one. He's a chained beast who only has power over us if we give it to him.
ReplyDeleteMary not only takes the place of Christ now but of Michael the Archangel too? Or do you hold to Valentinus' theory that Mary was only Michael in disguise to begin with? Sometimes it seems Catholics indeed hold this theory.
ReplyDeleteJason, the Catholic Church teaches that Mary is the Queen of angels and saints. As Wordsworth, a non-practicing Protestant, said of her. She is "our tainted nature's solitary boast."
ReplyDeleteLucifer's sin was pride. Why would God not chastise him by using a simple young girl to humiliate him? Mary never took any glory for herself, she always pointed to Jesus. "My soul magnifies the Lord," she said to Elizabeith. "Do whatever He tells you," she told the servants at Cana. Catholics honor her as the Mother of God. Jesus must have lived the Commandment to "Honor your father and mother" better than anyone. When they found him in the temple, he went home with them "and was subject to them."
I will never understand how any Bible reading Protestant can treat Our Lady with disdain. She is indeed, "our tainted nature's solitary boast" and, like all mothers, she wants to teach us and lead us to the Truth Who is Jesus Himself.
NonVeniPacem has a great post today about St Catherine of Sienna on her feast day. Another young girl, illiterate, used by God to humble the proud.

So you are saying she is Michael the Archangel.
ReplyDeleteWhatever makes you say that Christ's mother is St Michael the Archangel?
ReplyDeleteI’m not publishing any more of your insults against the Blessed Mother.
