I was thinking about jargon today. There's a lot of it floating around in the ether, and in the cloud, and on social media, and on college campuses. In fact, jargon is everywhere.
Now the word jargon has a couple of different meanings:
The specialized language of a trade, profession, or similar group, especially when viewed as difficult to understand by outsiders.
That definition is rather reasonable and not pejorative. A computer geek may use language about his work that is Greek to me. But then Greek is Greek to me as well, though it's perfectly comprehensible to someone raised in Greece. I don't understand Russian or Gaelic either. In fact, the only language I speak fluently is English. I have a smattering of French and Spanish, but not enough to converse, and that's about it.
We can all use a lift during these busy days when so many suffer from various challenges: the loss of loved ones, disappointments, the physical difficulty of seasonal light disorder and depression. Take a moment to let the glory of this song fill you with the true gift of Christmas -- the love of Our Savior God.
I read a lot of news in the English papers because their reporters have no ax to grind and I think the news is more accurate. Articles I've read in the American press say Bocelli was worried about his fans' backlash, but the English papers are reporting he received death threats. In view of all the threats coming from liberal land and their campaign violence and dirty tricks, I believe it. I'm only sorry Bocelli didn't have the courage to hang in. But isn't it interesting that the kind and tolerant bunch who won't let a baker refuse to bake a wedding cake for a gay "marriage" are fine with doing everything they can to prevent any famous entertainers from performing at the inauguration. Hey, I think Trump should skip the rich and famous elitists and look for great talent among the little guys. Wouldn't that be refreshing?
I recently blogged about singer Andrea Bocelli's personal testimony against abortion. Bocelli says he's amazed at the impact his video has had since he recorded it over a year ago. He told an Italian newspaper, “Because of my personal convictions as a devout Catholic, I am not only fighting against something, I am fighting for something - and I am for life.” (Read more here.... )
It used to be that celebrities only paraded anti-life convictions, but more and more frequently well-known men and women are sharing the pro-life message. Why wouldn't they when the only reason they're here is because their moms refused to take the advice of doctors and kill them. Thank God for the Adrea Bocellis and Tim Tebows of this world. They are helping to change hearts. Pray for them and for their mothers who loved them enough to say no to the death peddlars!

God loves us and wants us to bask in His light. Light and life and joy: that's a good summary of the Culture of Life. Ah, Lord, that we might learn to live it. Then we can truly say, the Kingdom of God is already in our midst (Luke 17:21).
Every baby created by God was gifted with special talents. As you listen to Andrea Bocelli thank God for his mom's decision to give him life and pray for all those mothers who aborted God's great gift to them. Adopt a baby today who is in danger of abortion.
