Silence: wound or healing?

Often when I'm reading, I come across a sentence or phrase that stops me short. What does that mean? How can I process the idea? If it were a signpost on the road, how would it direct me on my journey?

If I Could Give the Pope One Piece of Advice...

...I'd say, "Please be quiet and stop talking to reporters!" More prayer and less palaver!

Actually, that would be good advice for all of us. Life is too short to spend it in blah-blah-blah and, by the way, blah-blah.

Christians need to have custody over the eyes, but even more so custody over the tongue. (Listen to this, self!)

More problems are created, more relationships damaged, more scandal given with the tongue than almost everything else.

Want a great fast for Lent? Be quiet. Remember the Biblical passage, "Be still and know that I am God." It's in silence that we encounter the Lord.

And so I am going to shut down my computer, get out my Magnificat, and do night prayer with my husband. God bless you all and good night!
