Well... it's about time. Catholics cold be forgiven for thinking our bishops just plain don't care if we never have a live Mass again. Some dioceses shut down before governor Mass wreckers went to work dismantling the constitutional protection of religion. It was the Protestants and Jews  (and a few SSPX priests) standing up for religious rights. Let's hope lawsuits against the state tyrants proliferate!

One of my favorite go to sources is Papal Encyclicals Online.  It allows you to search by Pope or by subject discovering the most wonderful things about our past together as generation upon generation of Roman Catholics.  In just a couple of clicks I found the following quote so pertinent to the subject of this chapter of Paradigm Shift.  It comes from the Letter, Mirari Vos, On Liberalism and Religious Indifferentism, by Pope Gregory XVI, 1832, addressed to “All Patriarchs, Primates, Archbishops, and Bishops of the Catholic World.

I contend that Fr. Beck left the Church a long time ago, but he hangs around in a collar spewing to any liberal he can get to listen the gospel of the new Church of Nice.  This is not just a made up term.  It is very real and a necessary institution to get all (in their dreams) Catholics on board with total indifferentism toward any and all religions including “none of the above,” if that's what you prefer.  No real shepherd would say the things he does.  

Beck received attention this past week with his outrageous comments on national news about the boys from Covington Catholic High School.  Rush Limbaugh, a non-Catholic, was the only one I know who has so far called him out.  It’s been CRICKETS from the bishops, who acted very differently toward Fr. Mark Goring, yanking him faster than you can blink off the internet. 

Can the Pope Change Church Doctrine on Capital Punishment? Short Answer: NO!

We live in an era of papal confusion. Every time Pope Francis opens his mouth he throws a grenade at the faithful in the pews leaving chaos and flying shrapnel that obscures the teaching of the Church. On the one hand he will say something in conformity with Church doctrine; the next minute he acts in a way that contradicts what he just said. And then, refusing to clarify, he lets the confusion batter the faithful. One prudent friend said she just doesn't listen to him any more. What a situation for a Catholic where Peter, the chief teacher, bound to teach, govern, and sanctify has become a champion of confusion.  Pope Francis recently lobbed a grenade by saying that capital punishment is never admissible. That is a CHANGE in a perennial Church doctrine; not a development, not a clarification -- a break with past teaching. The papal posse on EWTN raises many troubling questions about the pope's actions in the video below. Raymond Arroyo observes that convicted murderers sometimes escape from prison killing more people in the process and gives examples of recent cases. How does that uphold the dignity and rights of their victims? It's a question that has always prevented me from jumping on the anti-death penalty wagon. How are prisoners and guards to be protected from homicidal psychopaths? Are their lives not worth protecting? How many murders does a criminal get before society can protect itself?

Many are probably shaking their heads and saying I'm not really pro-life because I believe capital punishment is sometimes justified. But I believe the state has the obligation to protect her people and prevent more innocent victims from those who clearly cannot be safely assimilated into society and are an on-going danger to other inmates and prison workers. Don't they have rights? Aren't their lives worth protecting?

Where Does The Church Stand on the Question of Capital Punishment? Tradition May Surprise You

Amy Coney Barrett, a widely published professor of law at the University of Notre Dame has been nominated by President Donald Trump for the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and was featured in an article published by the National Catholic Register on September 22.  A Senate hearing was held and several liberal Senators including Al Franken and Diane Feinstein gave her a brutal grilling.  The You Tube video of the Franken exchange is particularly disgusting.  

The Catholic Register article referred to an article Barrett wrote years ago as the subject of Feinstein’s questions, stating,    

“…it was Feinstein who mischaracterized the article’s conclusion, thus raising questions about Barrett’s fitness for the appellate bench.   Truth be told, the 1998 law review article in question, co-authored by Catholic constitutional scholar John Garvey, now the president of The Catholic University of America, reached a very different conclusion about the religious and professional responsibilities of Catholic jurists on the federal bench.  In their paper, Barrett and Garvey posed this question: Must judges who accept Church teaching on capital punishment recuse themselves in federal death-penalty cases? After exploring this question, the authors concluded that such cases were far from common, and when they did arise, Catholic judges should recuse themselves if necessary.” (My emphasis added.)

Leaving the moral issue of killing yourself aside for a moment, just take a look at the practical issues. Consider:

You're a nonbeliever with a terminal illness who abhors the thought of dying by inches dribbling and vomiting, etc. So you go along with the "compassionate dying" crowd who insist that killing yourself is easy and pleasant, no problemo -- except that the drugs leave you "gasp(ing) and snort(ing)", vomiting and having seizures for hours before you finally experience that blissful nirvana of the good death. Nice picture, eh?
