Editor's Note: I'm reading the Book of Jeremiah and marvel at the parallels between what's happening today and the evils faced by the "weeping prophet." Cardinal Vigano more and more appears to be a prophet, called like Jeremiah to warn an evil age and evil leaders of the punishment levied on us by our actions. Heed Archbishop Vigano's call, Americans. Devote yourself to prayer and penance for our nation and our world. May God protect us in this time of great need especially through the intercession of Mary, our Mother.

Pray and Repent in Sackcloth and Ashes: A New Message from Sr. Agnes of Akita

Reports coming out of Japan and published by an EWTN radio affiliate (WQPH Medford, MA) say that on October 6th, the opening day of the Amazon Synod, Sr. Agnes Sasagawa, the seer of Akita (an approved apparition), received a private message from her angel which included a public call to repentance. Sister, who is 88 and suffering from multiple health problems gave the message to another sister who shared it.

Before you read the messages, watch this video by Michael Matt that indicates exactly how vigilantly the hierarchy is to hide the serious messages that warn very graphically of the impending chastisement if we do not repent. 

St. Rose of Lima, Pray for Us!

Wouldn't it be wonderful if all of us loved Jesus the way Rose of Lima did? Her name was really Isabella, but she was such a beautiful infant everyone called her Rose. She lived a quiet life making a little hermitage in the back yard of her family's home, refused to marry, and even did things to disfigure her beauty like rub her face with pepper. She didn't want the young men flocking around her like bees to a flower. Here's a brief summary of her heroic life:

When her parents fell into financial trouble, she worked in the garden all day and sewed at night. Ten years of struggle against her parents began when they tried to make Rose marry. They refused to let her enter a convent, and out of obedience she continued her life of penance and solitude at home as a member of the Third Order of St. Dominic. So deep was her desire to live the life of Christ that she spent most of her time at home in solitude. 

During the last few years of her life, Rose set up a room in the house where she cared for homeless children, the elderly and the sick. This was a beginning of social services in Peru. Though secluded in life and activity, she was brought to the attention of Inquisition interrogators, who could only say that she was influenced by grace. (Read more here.)

Rose was the first saint of the Americas. She died in 1617, only 31-years-old, was beatified 50 years after her death, and canonized a few years later.  What a wonderful saint for our coddled age! We would do well to imitate her humble life.

I am happy to have two little granddaughters named after her, Amelia Rose and Marianna Rose. Happy feast day, girls!

Made in China: Are We Funding a War Machine?

The article below says little about the economic disparity between the U.S. and China, but it says volumes about the growing danger of the Asian giant. Pay attention to world affairs. Read the article below and send some special Advent prayers heavenwards for peace. Remember how God used pagan nations to chastise the Israelites. Doesn't the U.S. with our massive murder of the unborn, our politics of usury, our financial slavery of millions deserve chastisement? It may not be Lent, but it's a good time to pray, do penance, and give alms. May God save us from ourselves.

Novena of Reparation for Abortion Begins Today

Priests for Life is calling for a novena of reparation for the sin of abortion. It begins today and ends on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, January 22nd. Joining the novena is a great preparation for those planning to attend one of the marches around the country. It is also a great way to spiritually march. If you want to make your prayers even more powerful back them up with sacrifice.

Prayer of Reparation
God and Father of Life,
You have created every human person,
And have opened the way for each to have eternal life.

We live in the shadow of death.
Tens of millions of your children have been killed because of the Roe vs. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

Father, have mercy on us.
Heal our land
And accept our offering of prayer and penance.
In your love for us,
Turn back the scourge of abortion.

May each of us exult in hearts full of hope
And hands full of mercy
And work together to build a culture of life.
