Pray for Eluana Englaro, Italy's Terri Schiavo

Last Tuesday 48 year old Eluana Englaro, who is in a state of diminshed consciousness due to an automobile accident in 1992, was moved from the religious hospice that was caring for her with love to an instiution that has agreed to participate in her killing. She breathes on her own but depends on a feeding tube for food and fluids. Eluana father's petitioned the courts to allow the killing and they agreed. Read more here and here.

Italy's Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is attempting to by-pass the president who refused to sign a bill to save the woman. Please pray for this young woman that action can be taken in time to prevent her deydration murder. I visit a nursing home every Sunday. Many people there also have "diminished consciousness." They are still precious and unique in the eyes of God.

Dear Ambassador Castellaneta:

The members of the Catholic Media Coalition express our concern and outrage over the refusal of President Napolitano to sign the Parliament's emergency measure to prevent the dehydration killing of Eluana Englaro. To disregard the will of the people expressed by the Council of Ministers' unanimous support for the law, Urgent Provisions on Nutrition and Hydration, is an act of executive tyranny.

I know that the relgious order caring for Eluana before transfer to the killing facility were willing to continue to offer full compassionate treatment to this vulnerable young woman. For the government to facilitate her murder is reminiscent of fascist cooperation with Hitler's plan to exterminate the Jews during World War II.

Pro-life America is appalled at your president's active participation in violating Eluana's right to life. The end result will not only be the death of this poor woman, but a judgment on Italy from Almighty God. Please let the president know that we are praying for him to sign the order that will offer Eluana a reprieve. The holocaust in Europe began with the relaxed euthanasia policies in Germany eliminating those considered "useless eaters," the sick and helpless. It is chilling to see it beginning again in the heart of Europe. Consider Italy's reputation. Let it not be said that she is a mother who kills her sick children.

Obama Supports Funding UNFPA Insanity: Breakdown of Family is Triumph of "Human Rights" over "Patriarchy"

Obama's executive order rescinding the Mexico City policy to restore tax dollars to kill babies oversees is just the tip of the iceberg for international killing. The same day he signed the order (only one day after several hundred thousand Marched for Life in Washington) he said, "I look forward to working with Congress to restore US financial support for the UN Population Fund. By resuming funding to UNFPA, the US will be joining 180 other donor nations working collaboratively to reduce poverty, improve the health of women and children, prevent HIV/AIDS and provide family planning assistance to women in 154 countries." This is the big lie, the
shrewd rhetoric of a man running pell-mell at the head of the death peddlars.

They,of course, enthusiastically endorse him. Thoraya Ahmed Obaid, UNFPA's Executive Director gushed over “how quickly he has addressed this issue. His actions send a strong message about his leadership and his desire to support causes that will promote peace and dignity, equality for women and girls, and economic development in the poorest regions of the world. And, access to reproductive health is at the core of all of these issues." Horsehockey! Abortion and abortifacient birth control are the poisoned apple, rotten to the core, that UNFPA supports. The U.N. elitists are dedicated to an anti-family agenda of population reduction for the undesirables of the third world and institution of one-world atheistic government.

At a meeting in Mexico in January, UNFPA representative Arie Hoekman celebrated the breakdown of the traditional family through divorce and out-of-wedlock births calling it the triumph of "human rights" over "patriarchy."

He said, "In crisis? More than a crisis, we are in the presence of a weakening of the patriarchal structure, as a result of the disappearance of the economic base that sustains it and because of the rise of new values centered in the recognition of fundamental human rights." And what "fundamental human rights" are those? Keep in mind that the U.N. uses definitions in documents that don't necessarily mean what the average person with a dictionary thinks. "Reproductive rights" is codespeak for abortion, contraception, and godless sex education. "Human rights" is codespeak for homosexual rights.

The U.N. desires: the breakdown of the family, worldwide abortion/contraception, the homosexual agenda, population reduction, green policies first even when they destabalize the economy and hurt people, children's "rights" that destroy parental authority, etc. Read C.S. Abortion is the inversion of goodness and truth. The novel, Rosemary's Baby, on screen with Mia Farrow as Rosemary, tells the story of the demon's birth. Everything is a reverse of the Nativity story. The child is a human demon conceived in violence by Satan. The "angels" are a coven of witches/warlocks whose ordinariness is like that of the drab little clerk Adolph Eichmann who sent millions of Jews to their death. Rosemary, innocent of the evil plot, is caught up in its effects like the innocent in every age. Her husband, unlike the just Joseph, is grasping and self-centered, an unjust man to the core. He's made a pact with the devil offering his wife as a sacrifice, like so many men who coerce their wives or girlfriends into making the bloody abortion sacrifice. After the demon's birth three men in black come bearing gifts. The book and movie are eerie in their portrayal of evil as the inversion of good.

It is an ancient story. Evil always mimics good; that's one of its hallmarks. Why? Because, as St. Thomas Aquinas tells us, people never choose evil directly. They choose a good so they can rationalize their sinful behavior. Women going into Planned Parenthood don't choose the baby's bloody corpse; they choose their education, or their job, or their reputation. They choose their trip to Fort Lauderdale on spring break with a trim body that will look good in a bikini. They choose "freedom."

Pro-lifers need to strip the lid off the garbage pit and expose the stinking truth. That's why the pictures of the tiny victims are so necessary. They uncover the self-delusion that kills - not only the babies, but the peace of mind of their parents.

Pray the rosary every day for an end to abortion and the release of this country from the grips of the Culture of Death. Our Lady help of Christians, pray for us.

Remember how the media jumped all over the coverup by the bishops of the sex abuse of children, mostly adolescent boys? Internationally PP murders more unborn children than any other organization. The Legion Comes Unglued

The myth of the "saintly" founder of the Legionaries of Christ has completely unravelled with the revelation that Marcial Maciel Degollado fathered one or more children in his latter years. Since his priestly faculties were suspended by Pope Benedict a few years ago, the Legion hasn't been quite as loud in their defense of Maciel, but still released an imprudent statement when he died about the "departure of its dear Father Founder... to the heavenly homeland." He died, they said in a letter to affiliates, "with the peace that always filled his soul." It would have been more to the point to beg for prayers for his salvation instead of this near canonization.

I've never trusted the Legionaries of Christ. Call it a woman's instinct, but I just couldn't stand the worship fest and rule that made "the founder" the center of the universe and shrouded him in secrecy and forbade any criticism. (Pope Benedict nullified those two private vows a few years ago.) Only one man belongs at the center of our faith and he's depicted, not as a man of honor, but humiliated and despised. "There was in him no stately bearing to make us look at him, nor appearance that would attract us to him. He was spurned and avoided by men, a man of suffering, accustomed to infirmity, one of those from whom men hide their faces, spurned, and we held him in no esteem." (Isaiah 53) That is certainly not the picture of Maciel who always appeared to relish his place of honor and fostered his image of living saint.

What should happen now with the Legionaries? Canon Lawyer Edward Peters says what "must not happen" is "Any more language whatsoever from Legion leadership that tries to spin this disaster." He decried their initial reaction which he felt treated people as "idiot children." He's also made some sensible suggestions that include the possibility of disbanding the Legion and reestablishing it as a new order releasing those who wish to go into the diocesan priesthood or elsewhere. A serious examination and a fresh start may be exactly what's needed, but not with the leadership that circled the wagons and fostered the myth of the saintly persecuted founder for so long. Some of them had to know the truth. And we've seen enough of secrecy and dissembling among churchmen in the past decade to last a lifetime. Those who helped cover up Maciel's secrets belong repenting in a monastery. With all the U.S. bishps who covered up sex abuse there are enough to start an entire order - how about the Order of Atonement. Part of their rule can be two hours a day scrubbing floors and cleaning toilets at a local jail reflecting on where they deserve to be.

Rosary Miracles

If you aren't praying the daily rosary why not? Prayer can work miracles and our sad country is definitely in need of a few of those. Take a look at some of the miracles brought about in countries dedicated to the rosary. And then think about organizing a rosary march in your town. Think of the impact of even a dozen people praying for the community as they march behind a statue of the Blessed Mother.

More Obama Change - Culture of Death at the Justice Department

Pro-lifers warned about the impact on the Supreme Court of an Obama presidency, but the impact on the courts will be much broader than that. Democrats are experts at entrenching. The pro-death nominees at Justice will hire people at all management levels who support the pro-death/pro-gay agenda. This will affect all Amicus briefs filed by the government - officially promoting the culture of death. We're not just talking abortion here but euthanasia, assisted suicide, embyronic cannibalism, cloning, LBGT "civil rights," etc. It would be hard to imagine a blacker scenario for the legal justice system in this country.

Unfortunately, most folks just don't get it. When I see the comments of young people on Facebook and how they flock to promote the politically correct positions of the day, I cringe. The education system has given us a dumbed down population who can't read to the end of the paragraph and draw a logical conclusion.

And when I think that this administration was given to us by Catholics it reminds me of the Israelites who, because of their infidelity, got a 40 year journey in the desert for a trip that should only have taken a few weeks. So we may be in for aome serious desert time. Real Catholics (vs. the pick and choose cafeteria type who don't see any problems) need to make acts of atonement. The daily rosary is a good place to start. We are definitely in serious trouble. But remember that 10% of Catholics praying the rosary in Austria in 1955 led to the Russians pulling out their troops without a shot fired. It's the only time in history it ever happened.

I cried when I read the article below. So many challenges in life call forth our capacity to love. What a wise mother to know that the few days and months she is given to love little pre-born Clara are a grace and a blessing. How many parents are out there who have come to this realization and love their little ones as long as God entrusts them to their loving arms? How many in fear run from the opportunity and rush their sick babies to an early grave?

See 99 Balloons for a photo-story about Elliot (who had trisomy 18) by his proud daddy. Eliot and Clara are a testimony to God's perfection even when it comes in a package the world doesn't recognize. Pray for families challenged by painful situations at the beginning, the middle, and the end of life, which is ultimately all of us. Suffering is a gift from God that is, sadly, often rejected.

Give us wisdom, Lord, to see You in our sufferings and see our sufferings as a gift. As Eliot's dad said, "An undervelopoed lung, a heart with a hole in it, and DNA that placed faulty information into each and every cell in your body could not stop God from revealing himself through a child who never uttered a word. Not a pulpit, not a slick presentation, not a best-selling book, but a six pound boy with trisomy 18. God found great pleasure to take a lowly thing in the eyes of the world and show truth." Mariposa is our home, but it also means little butterfly and that is what she is. A sweet butterfly that is in her cocoon, will come forth in brilliant color, bestow a butterfly kiss and then fly away as the spring time air calls her forth.

The technician’s hand is poised over my swollen belly like a child standing with a net, waiting to catch the butterfly. The baby flutters and turns in the warm water, I can almost see her pretty face laughing. There is a wild trail of goo on my skin marking the dance of my daughter as she cavorts within my womb. I am breathless with her beauty.

My daughter. My daughter, Clara. It is music to my ears to say her name. She pauses for a moment and the technician starts measuring with clicks and whirls of the machine. I am so enamored with her pretty little round head that I do not see the horrendous cysts taking up the space where her brain ought to be. Her arms wave in front of the camera like a sweet greeting and my heart swells with love, but I do not see that the other one lies floating in sea, for it has no bones. The misty floaty thing, the technician says to me, as I admire her curved spine, is her bowels. I can not even process this information, for she has taken off again in a flight of fancy, swirling and leaping in joy. And finally, the technician mentions the heart that is doing nothing because it is broken. I look at the technician with wide eyes "But my heart is all she needs." (Read the rest...)
