A Man Who Walks the Pro-Life Walk

The pro-abortion folks in Houston held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 20th to celebrate the grand opening of the largest abortion mill in the western hemisphere, run by the biggest baby-killing machine in the world, Planned Parenthood. One man put his money where his mouth is. A member of the catering team, Ramon refused to go in when he realized the bloody business where he was supposed to serve food,. Pray for Ramon that his courageous act is magnified by the Lord.

Satan told God, "I will not serve." Ramon told Satan, "I will not serve."

Sr. Carol Keehan Speaks to Gonzaga Graduates!

Go here to see the protest against Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C. for inviting Sr. Carol Keehan to be their commencement speaker. Sr. Keehan is complicit in passing the pro-abortion Obama health care monstrosity for which she was rewarded with a presidential pen. (Is it valued at thirty pieces of silver?)  In endorsing the bill, she acted against the bishops and several have publicly repudiated her behavior. That hasn't kept a number of clueless Gonzaga students from attacking the messengers outside their graduation who stood up for the truth. Their attitude reminds me of the graduates at Notre Dame who attacked those who dared to defend the faith against the school's incredible lack of judgment in honoring the most pro-abortion politician in American history.

Well the Jesuits at Gonzaga are a match for Notre Dame's Fr. Jenkins it appears. Pray in reparation for the damage they are inflicting on Holy Mother Church. Jesus said, say yes when you mean yes and no when you mean no. Gonzaga is sending mixed messages that teach young people, not to be soldiers of Christ, but to be politically correct compromisers of the truth. Shame on Gonzaga! They say "yes" to life at the March for Life in January and "no" to life at graduation in June. What a sorry example for their students!

Do You Know the Four Verses of the Star Spangled Banner?

One more nail in the coffin of the myth that this land was NOT founded on godly principles. Francis Scott Key wrote The Star Spangled Banner in 1814 as he viewed the bombardment of Fort McHenry from the deck of a British warship in the Chesapeake Bay. The song consists of four verses and the one sung by the marine in the video below is the fourth verse. Here are the complete lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner and a little about the history of the real banner, tattered and torn, which now rests at the Smithsonian Institution.

Semper Fi to this marine and a big thanks to him for a goosebumps performance. Notice the spontaneous rising to their feet by these tea party patriots. God bless them every one.

Corpus Christi Sunday and the Corporal Works of Mercy

Today is the Feast of Corpus Christi, the day we celebrate the Body and Blood of Christ, the God-Man. He dignified our human nature by taking on flesh. What better day to do the corporal works of mercy in honor of the feast.

So Larry and I are taking a trip to Johns Hopkins to visit my brother who is suffering the ravages of a debilitating stroke (last July) complicated by onset of a disease related to MS (I can't remember the name off-hand.). Please pray for John. Only a few months ago he was able to walk with a four-pronged cane and, while he needed lots of assistance, he could do many things for himself. Now he needs help for everything. He's a relatively young man, only 55, a retired police officer, who was always there for anyone who needed a helping hand. He has shifted from being the Good Samaritan to being the wounded Jew, a much more difficult role.

We'll be praying several rosaries in the car on our five-hour round trip both for John and all those who face the prospect of suffering that isn't likely to go away. That's the worst kind, a priest once told me. You suffer and know things are only likely to get worse. We pray for a miracle of healing for John if it's God's will and for his courageous perseverance if it's not. Only God knows the purpose of this painful time in John's life. He is downhearted but not defeated. May his guardian angel and patron saints surround him with their love and strength and help him lift his eyes toward the throne of God.

Our Lady Help of Christians, pray for John and all those suffering this day. St. John, St. Michael, and St. Joseph, pray for him. Angel of God, stay his side. And may the Body and Blood of Christ in the Most Holy Eucharist bring relief to John and our suffering world.

I'm So Bummed: We Missed National Doughnut Day

Why didn't somebody tell me yesterday that it was National Doughnut Day and free doughnuts could be had at Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Doughnuts? We have a DD right down the road. Darn!

What were we doing instead of lining up for the sweet treats? You'll have to go here to see. But I would have been happy to combine it with a doughnut!

Facing the Giants of Fear in Your Life

Last night my husband and I watched the film, Facing the Giants. This overtly Christian movie was written, directed, and produced by members of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany Georgia. Giants was their second film. The third was Fireproof which showed in 800 theatres nationwide and spurred a New York Times bestselling book. Giants tells the story of an underdog high school football team and their coach who through trust in God, hard work, and dedication become winners both on and off the field. In a cameo appearance University of Georgia coach Mark Richt stresses the Christian message of the film - that it isn't worldly goals that make us winners, but commitment to Jesus Christ.

That this moving film was made through the movie ministry of a Christian church is amazing. Fireproof was the leading independent film of 2008 so this little group of believers are showing that David really can stand up to the Goliaths in Hollywood. This film reminds me of one of my favorites - Rudy, about a young man who is determined to make the Notre Dame football team despite his small stature. The same determination that, in real life, inspired Rudy Ruettiger is visible in this inspiring movie. I plan to buy it for my own little football player, a ten-year-old grandson. I only wish he had a coach like the fictional Grant Taylor.

National Debt Tops 13 Trillion and No End in Sight

Do you try to keep your family's spending under control? You should. It's immoral to contract a debt you have no way of paying off. And that is exactly what Congress is doing. It is impossible for the government contracting the debt to pay it off in any reasonable period of time. So every child born in the United States is burdened with a massive debt he did not incur and cannot pay off in his lifetime.

Since Obama took office (about 500 days ago) his government has added $4.9 billion A DAY to the national debt. (Compare that to profligate spender George Bush at $1.7 billion a day.) That's money that every taxpayer owes. But since all of us living today can't pay it off, our children and grandchildren are indebted as well. So we are the wage slaves of a government that is basically using us as collateral.

Here's what the American Thinker blog says:
The events that are transpiring in Europe are what a script writer would call foreshadowing of the events that will take place in America if the government continues to spend more money than the U.S. Treasury takes in. But these lessons are seemingly lost on American socialists as they push ahead at top speed to institute the Obama socialist agenda by packing the federal budget with huge amounts of pork. At the current rate of spending the United States will be upside down in its debt obligations by next year. That is to say that America will owe more than its annual GDP. Currently the national debt is $12.9 trillion, and our GDP is $13.7 Trillion. Next year, the federal government will have to borrow $1.4 trillion to cover all of the expenditures in the budget. The collateral the government will use to secure these loans is the American tax payer. The taxpayers may not know it, (and the politicians hope they never find out) but the share of the national debt that each taxpayer owes right now is $117,380.00, essentially two years of engenderment, working off the debt for each household based on annual household incomes.
Where are the statements from the bishops condemning this massive enslavement by the government of both current and future generations? Maybe they just haven't got a clue and believe money grows on trees!

And as for Obama -- well all his talk about plans to control spending are that -- just talk. He is leading the U.S. toward economic disaster. Is his administration stupid or is this part of the plan?

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on Us

The month of June is dedicated by Holy Mother Church to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

It has also been dedicated by a so-called "messiah," Barack Obama. He dedicated the month to --- ta da --- LGBT pride. (Read about it here.) Ah yes, we should all be proud of our sinful sexual behavior and proclaim it from the housetops or from Folsom Street in San Francisco.

Are we surprised? The man who skipped town rather than honor our dead soldiers by attending the national event at Arlington Cemetery on Memorial Day, the same one who ignored the National Day of Prayer...is quick to honor sodomy with an entire month.

From the moment Obama took office he has dedicated himself to every perverted and evil initiative under the sun. There isn't an abortion method he doesn't embrace wholeheartedly or a perverted act of lust he couldn't champion. He is an admitted drug user as a young adult, and, if Larry Sinclair is to be believed, he was still using as a state senator in the late 90s.

The devil is shaking his fist at Jesus with this mockery, but what else is new? Jesus is big enough to handle it and offer his mercy to those who would repent and turn to Him. So offer your prayers to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this month for those enslaved by same-sex lust. For some, who will die this month and meet their Maker, it may be their last chance at mercy.

I'm going to say the Litany to the Sacred Heart often this month for homosexual activists and invite you to join me.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have mercy on us.

Almost 50 CCHD Grantees Engage in Activities Opposed to Catholic Teaching

The bishops continue to stonewall about the scandal of using money collected from trusting Catholics to fund organizations promoting decidedly un-Catholic activities: abortion, contraception, same-sex marriage, etc. It's important to let your Catholic friends know that a dollar for CCHD may fund abortion lobbying. A handful of bishops have stopped participating in the collection but most are silent enablers who continue to promote the fantasy that CCHD serves the poor. Read more here....

The Devil's in the Details of the Health Care Bill

Now that Obama, Nancy, Harry, et al got the socialized medicine bill through, more facts about its costs are coming out. CBO Director Doug Elmendorf says:
In CBO’s judgment, the health legislation enacted earlier this year does not substantially diminish that pressure [on health costs]. In fact, CBO estimated that the health legislation will increase the federal budgetary commitment to health care (which CBO defines as the sum of net federal outlays for health programs and tax preferences for health care) by nearly $400 billion during the 2010-2019 period. (Read more here...)
But what's a few hundred billion among friends and a cool $1.5 trillion anticipated over the next 20 years. After all, it's coming out of Obama's stash right?

One problem for the administration -- 60% of the American people oppose the health care bill and want it repealed. Keep praying for a big change in November that unseats Nancy (even if her San Francisco socialist district sends her back) and brings a lot of fresh-faced small government patriots to Washington. How about Mass, the rosary, and a Friday sacrifice each week for that intention! Our salvation is not in politics, but the Lord uses leaders to chastise and we've sure been getting a lot of that lately. Pray for a Cyrus to help rebuild the nation.
