This morning I had a sad conversation at breakfast with two friends. We were lamenting the impact of political correctness on black culture. It began with Veronica's relating the unfortunate outcome for a fellow FEMA employ who, at a morning briefing, described a problem as becoming a "real tar baby." By the same afternoon EEO had him removed from his position, segregated and sidelined, (much easier than firing).
Now intelligent people know a reference to a "tar baby" is not a racially motivated statement. The tar baby was Br'er Fox's trick to capture Br'er Rabbit by getting him stuck in tar which just happens to be black. It is similar to saying something like, "The only way to get rid of that problem is put it in cement shoes and throw it in the river." Is that a racially motivated statement because cement is relatively white? Hardly! At any rate, it reminded my friends and me of the infamous "niggardly" statement which demonstrated not only the power of political correctness, but the ignorance of those bringing the accusations.
At any rate, one thing led to another and we began talking about Joel Chandler Harris, Uncle Remus, and the wonderful Disney film, Song of the South. Uncle Remus is a treasure of black culture and Joel Chandler Harris was its champion. He traveled around northern Georgia meticulously transcribing stories that had their origin in the African past of blacks brought to the United States as slaves. These stories were a direct link to a rich past. Not only did Harris transcribe the stories, but he meticulously reproduced the dialect, a linguistic magnum opus. He never took credit for the stories; he wasn't the architect, only the builder. But he created a tremendous body of work revealing the originality, the intelligence, and the wisdom of black storytelling. It is a beautiful history that, like the story of Little Black Sambo, shows how wit and intelligence save the day. And yet, black children are denied these wonderful stories because of the idiotic embrace of a mindless political correctness.
So how is the wise and kind grandfatherly Uncle Remus treated? As someone to be trashed and buried as an embarrassment. What has taken the place of his stories? Black rap with the glorification of cop-killing, abuse, and rape. White racists could hardly do better than to convince blacks that dumping Uncle Remus and elevating Ice T is the ticket to respect. That blacks have bought into the nonsense is the victory of an anti-black, liberal establishment that wants to keep blacks on their plantation with bread and circuses. Three cheers for liberals. They destroyed the black family with Johnson's "great society and thrust a rich tradition onto the trash heap with political correctness.
If I were a black parent I would search out the story of the creative little black boy, Sambo, who outsmarts the vicious (and stupid) liberal tigers (Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Joe Biden) and the wise and delightful stories of the kind and loving Uncle Remus. These stories are a heritage of which to proud! And Walt Disney had the foresight to make a movie glorifying the best of black storytelling with a black hero, Uncle Remus, of whom any family could be proud! I mourn the loss of Song of the South for my own children. It is Uncle Remus, not the white adults, who is the hero for the little white boy in the film. Burying the film and Uncle Remus in the archives of Disney to decay and disappear is a tragedy for both blacks and whites!

Leroy Carhart: Liar Par Excellence!
Listen to this abortionist describe the baby as like "meat" in a "slow cooker." Hear him lie about women having no regrets. Then look at the post abortion suicide statistics. Studies in Finland and California show significantly higher suicides rates after abortion compared to both live birth and miscarriage. Abortion is hazardous to a woman's physical and mental health. It is also hazardous to an abortionist's honesty. But it's very good for his pocketbook. .

Meet Bill Baird
Writing my last post led me out of curiosity to see what the "father of abortion rights" is up to these days. Sadly, at 80+ Baird continues to relish his role as abortion guru who succeeded "beyond [his] wildest dreams."
One statement he made recently is particularly interesting. “I knew that if we could get the birth control law repealed on privacy grounds, we could get abortion too,” Many people, even Catholics, deny the link between contraception and abortion, but Baird saw it clearly. Legally contraception and abortion are linked. But not just legally. Contraception leads to acceptance of abortion. The word literally means "contra-ception" = "against conception." God is the author of life, but contraception snatches God's authority over life and transfers it to the couple. Instead of seeking God's will for the family, it imposes man's will on God. "You may want us to have another child, but WE have our own will in the matter and We will decide for ourselves."
Contraception and abortion illustrate man's determination to be God. Bill Baird recognized the link to religion and, in his outrageous street-theater style, he often illustrated it with blasphemy. Please pray for him today. At his age commitment to evil is a dangerous game. The day is getting nearer when he'll have to explain his death-dealing career to the author of life!

The Horrible Reality Exposed by Kermit Gosnell
Over the past few months I've read many articles about Kermit Gosnell's grisly abortion mill. His callousness and the scope of his murderous behavior is shocking even to someone like me who has spent the last 45 years immersed in trying to expose the bloody evil of the abortion movement. While Planned Parenthood tries to convince people that he is an aberration, he seems all-too-typical to me. I remember a conversation with Thomas Gressinger, the medical director at the Northern Virginia Women's Medical Center (highfalutin name for an abortion mill that did no women's medicine, except killing little women among others). Gressinger admitted that the babies in the women were human and then shrugged. "So what?" was his cavalier response. Picketing outside a hotel in D.C. years ago where the abortionists were holding a meeting, I spoke to the notorious Bill Baird, "father of abortion rights." I carried a poster with the famous Life Magazine cover showing a late term baby. He denied the fact (with a straight face) that it was a baby. "Any two-year-old could recognize it," I responded. Only the lying killers could relegate this obvious member of our human family to a subhuman "fetus," fodder for greedy abortionists, the mothers' hired killers.

Head of St. Luke's Banished Amid Sexual and Financial Scandals
St. Luke Institute is a facility for troubled priests in Silver Spring, MD. One big problem - its directors have often seemed as beset with problems as the priests they treat. Here's the latest scandal at St. Luke's:"Msgr. Edward Arsenault, a priest of the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire, had been president of the St. Luke Institute in Maryland since 2009. He stepped down after the Manchester diocese announced that it had received reports of 'a potentially inappropriate adult relationship' as well as 'evidence suggesting improper financial transactions' involving Msgr. Arsenault."
St. Luke's has been a problem for years. Former head, Fr. Stephen Rossetti, was problematic (Go here and here.) And if you really want more information about St. Luke's sketchy history, here are some articles for you to study. With advisers like these, it's no wonder the Church in the U.S. is in such a mess!

Bishop Thomas Gumbleton: Scandalizing in Retirement
Some bishops are so predictable. They spent their active ministry committing scandals without end. Why stop after retirement?Case in point: Bishop Thomas Gumbleton who spent his entire "career" (I use the term deliberately) pushing the gay agenda and filling the diocese of Detroit, where he was an auxiliary bishop, with dissent.
Gumbleton was notorious for publicly disputing Church teaching on women's ordination, contraception, and the gay lifestyle. And it continues. On Sunday he celebrated an anniversary liturgy for Dignity, the homosexual activist group for Catholics. Support for Dignity was one of the in-your-face dissent activities that caused Rome to force Gumbleton's retirement in 2006 after he refused to resign upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 75.
But retirement hasn't shut up this loudmouthed dissenter. He continues to scandalize while he publicly disagrees with the solid doctrinal teaching of the current Archbishop of Detroit, Allen Vigneron. And, of course he's the media darling for his attack on Church authority.

It's not a pretty story. The Benghazi survivors have been threatened by administration thugs if they testify about the failure to protect the U.S. delegation. Read more here.
