Meet Bill Baird

Writing my last post led me out of curiosity to see what the "father of abortion rights" is up to these days. Sadly, at 80+ Baird continues to relish his role as abortion guru who succeeded "beyond [his] wildest dreams."

One statement he made recently is particularly interesting. “I knew that if we could get the birth control law repealed on privacy grounds, we could get abortion too,” Many people, even Catholics, deny the link between contraception and abortion, but Baird saw it clearly. Legally contraception and abortion are linked. But not just legally. Contraception leads to acceptance of abortion. The word literally means "contra-ception" = "against conception." God is the author of life, but contraception snatches God's authority over life and transfers it to the couple. Instead of seeking God's will for the family, it imposes man's will on God. "You may want us to have another child, but WE have our own will in the matter and We will decide for ourselves."

Contraception and abortion illustrate man's determination to be God. Bill Baird recognized the link to religion and, in his outrageous street-theater style, he often illustrated it with blasphemy. Please pray for him today. At his age commitment to evil is a dangerous game. The day is getting nearer when he'll have to explain his death-dealing career to the author of life!

Planned Parenthood is Losing Their Base

When a liberal, pro-contraception columnist abandons Planned Parenthood's leaky ship, your know they're in big trouble! Kirsten Powers is a political consultant who always supported funding PP to reduce the need for abortion. She bought their argument that lack of access to contraception caused more abortions. After all, it makes intuitive sense on a superficial level that birth control will result in fewer unwanted pregnancies and thus fewer abortions. Then Powers did the research. She was shocked by what she found from PP's own records:

Turns out, a 2009 study by the journal Contraception found, in a 10-year study of women in Spain, that as overall contraceptive use increased from around 49 percent to 80 percent, the elective abortion rate more than doubled. This doesn’t mean that access to contraception  causes more abortion—though some believe that—but that it doesn’t necessarily reduce it.

A January 2011 fact sheet by the pro-abortion rights Guttmacher Institute [PP's research arm] listed all the reasons that women who have had an abortion give for their unexpected pregnancy, and not one of them is lack of access to contraception....
But what is truly astonishing about the Guttmacher statistics is that they are completely unchanged from a decade ago.

In the year 2000, Guttmacher experts reported: “Forty-six percent of women [seeking abortions] had not used a contraceptive method in the month they conceived, mainly because of perceived low risk of pregnancy and concerns about contraception. More than half of women obtaining abortions in 2000 (54 percent) had been using a contraceptive method during the month they became pregnant.”

These are exactly the same as the 2011 numbers.
Over this time period, the U.S. government has funneled billions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, in large part because the organization claims to provide services to avoid unplanned pregnancies – a laudable goal. Yet despite a robust budget—Planned Parenthood reported a total annual revenue of $1.1 billion in its last financial filing—the organization has done absolutely nothing to change the fundamental dynamics of the United States’ abortion rate....

To preserve its federal subsidy, Planned Parenthood continues to claim that without its contraception services the abortion rate will go up. This deception smacks of a fleecing of taxpayers in an effort to promote an ideological agenda, rather than a sincere effort to help women plan families....

According to its most recent tax filing, the purpose of Planned Parenthood Federation of America is to provide leadership in “[a]chieving, through informed individual choice, a U.S. population of stable size in an optimum environment; in stimulating and sponsoring relevant biomedical, socio-economic, and demographic research.”

So it is, in reality, a population-control organization. Funny, this was never mentioned in the gauzy $200,000 advertising campaign launched last week. It also doesn’t make it into the “About Us” section of the group’s website, which repeatedly claims its mission is to protect women’s health, when in fact the real mission is to keep the birth rate at whatever level the leaders believe it should be....

Whatever you think of abortion rights, this is not the kind of organization that taxpayers should be funding.

Wow! Powers is now in the sites of the radicals who are debunking her column. But the facts are there and have been for years. Everywhere PP goes with their contraception message the rate of abortion skyrockets. They can spin it any way they want, but the fact is that their main purpose is abortion and that's what they get. Pray for Kirsten Powers and other honest columnists who do the research and tell the truth.

The Third Rail: Contraception

Years ago a friend of mine said the Lord never meant us to march for life during the cold winter, that we should be marching on the anniversary of Griswold v. Connecticut in June (June 7, 1965). Why? Because Griswold is the Supreme Court ruling that overthrew all the laws against selling contraceptives (the Comstock Laws) and established the "penumbra" right to privacy which is nowhere enumerated in the Constitution. Griswold was the Executive Director of the Planned Parenthood League of Connecticut. Like Roe, Griswold was a 7-2 decision that forbade all states in the U.S. from banning the sale of contraceptives. It's another example of the court legislating. It became the "privacy" decision used to overthrow all laws against abortion, which was always Planned Parenthood's not-so-hidden agenda.

Contraception is abortion's root. Anyone who claims to oppose abortion but supports contraception is foolish or a liar. Wherever contraception is promoted, abortions increase. More on that later. Michael Voris is absolutely right and it's high time we heard more preaching against contraception!
