Sunday Meditation: Unintended Consequences? Or Opportunities from the Holy Spirit on Pentecost and Every Day!
From the perspective of Big Government, a crisis may be a "terrible thing to waste" and the coronavirus certainly offers a great opportunity for tyrannical bureaucrats as we've seen; but there are unintended consequences in the wind that are more promising. Big Brother may be surprised at what he's unleashed. At LewRockwell.com, Bill Sardi writes about the flip side of the virus:

Contact Tracing: Is it Really about COVID-19 or about Control? What's Coming is Downright Scary!
Contact tracers are being hired and trained right now in states around the country. The power to control the lives of Americans, force quarantines against healthy people, and force vaccination is being put in place. Is this really about COVID-19 or is it about global control of the population? Ironically, I doubt it will stop things like the Minneapolis riots, but it will take law-abiding citizens and criminalize their refusal to cooperate with Big Brother control of their movements. Maybe it's time to leave the smart phones at home as much as possible! Or leave them in the car when you are visiting people.

Lots of Opinions on Coronavirus: Who's Right? Who Knows?
Someone posted a comment on Wednesday's post about an aerosol scientist who thinks COVID-19 can be airborne for miles and that's why it's so contagious and spreads so rapidly. She thinks people should be more vigilant about wearing masks and that's what she does even outside. (She is clearly expressing an opinion; there are no studies confirming it.)
Dr. Russell Blaylock, on the other hand, believes face masks are dangerous, can reduce your immune response and can concentrate any virus load a person is carrying so he can infect himself. He thinks masks for the healthy are contraindicated and can be down right life-threatening for some. His article cites a dozen studies plus one of his own.

Thoughts for Thursday! On COVID 19, Masks, and Camp Kreitzer
| Who is that masked man and why doesn't he practice proper socially distancing? |
- My husband and I start the morning each day with Mass. Only nine pews aren't blocked off in the entire church. Several people come in masked, but most of those who wear masks only put them on once Mass begins. I find that puzzling. Does the virus start flying around the church with the angels once Father rings the bell to announce the start of Mass? Is there no danger of contracting the virus or passing it along before Mass begins? Really...I'm just trying to figure out the logic. No one is closer than eight or ten feet except family groups and most in the church are more like 20 feet apart. Are people really masking because of the virus, or is something else going on? Listen Up, Virginia: To Mask or not to Mask! It's Up to You.
![]() |
| Now that's a store keeper with common sense! Let's put similar note on church doors. |
Virginia Governor Northam just mandated (starting Friday) a draconian order requiring masks in essentially every business in the commonwealth, including restaurants where you may only remove the mask while eating. Think about that. Take off your mask, take a sip of water, put on your mask, take off your mask, take a bite of food, put on your mask. If you pause for conversation you better have that mask on! Oh...and don't forget...every time you touch the mask you need to sanitize your hands...so don't forget to have the bottle right there and use it throughout dinner.

End the Lockdown: "If We Can Save Even One Life...."
UPDATE: 500 Doctors Write To Trump Warning Lockdown Will Cause More Deaths

| Lockdowns kill people just as surely as the coronavirus! |
We've listened to the unceasing mantra for months now justifying the country-wide lockdown and economic devastation. "If we can save even one life...!"
Governor Northam Illustrates How He Ignores the Rules He Makes for the Rest of Us!
Governor Northam visited Virginia Beach over the weekend and demonstrated how seriously he follows his own rules. But, hey, it was a great photo op and he couldn't help it if his fans wanted close up contact (social distancing be damned!) and no-mask selfies! Now let's see if he tries to mandate masks for all of the rest of us tomorrow. Why wasn't he cited by all those cops in his retinue?

Reflecting on Stupidity! Are we still "the land of the free and the home of the brave?"
"The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits." Albert Einstein"The perverse are hard to be corrected, and the number of fools is infinite." Ecclesiastes 1:15
I've always loved the description of the United States in the National Anthem: "The land of the free and the home of the brave." These days, however, it seems we live in the land of the lockdown and the home of the stupid.
