It's gone, folks. Do you even recognize the country these days? Look at history. Rome collapsed because of massive immorality. They lost the ability to protect themselves with their own legions, so they hired mercenaries with no fidelity to Rome. What happened next? The barbarian invasions. Well, we are in the midst of the barbarian invasions right now. We saw the barbarians marching with Black Lives Matter and Antifa.
We see them proclaiming their "pride" as they walk nude in our city streets like these perverts on bikes in New York City.
These Big Apple barbarians can only do what they do because of the barbarians in public office, elected by the barbarians in our neighborhoods and even in our own families.
It is especially pathetic when the barbarians loudly scandalize by proclaiming their "devout Catholic" faith while they champion sins that cry to heaven for vengeance. There isn't a millstone big enough for these barbarians.
How can we respond? Raging against the evil is hardly enough. The Catholic response begins with prayer and sacrifice, but it can't end there. Ora et labora. Pray, and then get to work.
Defend the cultural heritage bequeathed to us by our forefathers. How? Teach your children and grandchildren to be proud in the proper sense, proud of our forbearers, proud of our Catholic faith that has given the world so much: hospitals, universities, architectural masterpieces and great painting and sculptures, scientific advances in astronomy, botony, biology, pharmacology, etc. There are plenty of sources you can go to to help. Hillsdale College offers all kinds of free courses. The Charlemagne Institute's entire purpose is to rescue our legacy. Many Catholic apostolates offer opportunities to serve God by serving our neighbors. Think of the teaching opportunity of a lemonade stand with the proceeds going to a worthy charity! Plant a garden and share the produce with a local food bank. Think locally. St. Augustine tells us it is better to do great good among few than little good among many. How much good can we do in our own families?
Give children real heroes instead of artificial ones. Read them the lives of the saints. Talk about Jesus and his parables, powerful stories that inspire. Some heroes are among our relatives. Pass on the legacy of courage about grandparents and great grandparents who defended our country or faced the depression and other setbacks with courage and perseverance. Don't let their minds be corrupted by evil, but fill them up with virtue.
Remember that sin is first conceived in the mind. That's why the barbarians target the children with drag queen story hours and visual propaganda -- to pollute their minds and distort their reason and will. Smart phones are the entry into an evil world for many. Do you know what your kids are viewing?
Virtue is also first conceived in the mind as well. Fill up your mind with the true, the good, and the beautiful. I took the dam walk today about 6:00 a.m. and watched a flock of chimney swifts dancing in a beautiful arial ballet. Nature bears God's fingerprints:
Behold the birds of the air, for they neither sow, nor do they reap, nor gather into barns: and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you of much more value than they? (Matthew 6:26)
Despite all the evil, there is still much to celebrate. No matter what happens, even if America disappears as other corrupt civilizations have before, the end of the story is up to each of us. Heaven or hell? It begins here. Will we make our little corner of the world an oasis of hope or a fetid swamp of perversion?
As for me and my house....we will serve the Lord. Camp Kreitzer welcomes all who do the same. Stop by and visit our chickens and have a cup of tea sweetened with our bees' honey. We'll celebrate life together.
God wins!
Visiting chickens always brings perspective … peaceful little things.
ReplyDeleteI recall this verse, from Isaiah, written during the captivity of Israel (~740BC), when “barbarians” had taken all that was holy, all that was valuable, and melted it down for every imaginable profane use. All the glory of Kings David and Solomon, all the holiness and might of Moses and Joshua … gone, back into captivity, the Ark and Temple and God - all of it gone.
But they still were not alone, not completely … this was the age of Prophets - Prophets with great power and wisdom, who channeled the still, small voice of God to His people were alone and bereft in every possible way.
God was still there (pending final acceptance or rejection of His promised Advent).
Isaiah 40: 31
“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Freedom to libs only only freedom to rape everything that moves.
