Always Remember the Pro-Life Heroes Who Paved the Way!

My dear friend Jack Ames of Defend Life organizes a Maryland Face the Truth Tour every summer. It's a week of multiple stops each day using huge pro-life/abortion signs to expose communities to the truth about child-killing in the womb. Jack asked me to give a talk on the preliminary prep/training day about the early history of the pro-life movement. My qualifications? I'm old and started working in the pro-life movement in 1972 before Roe v. Wade. Some of the early heroes I'll be talking about directly impacted my own involvement in pro-life activism through their witness and inspiration. How much I thank God for all of them!

During those 50+ years, I've participated in just about every branch of pro-life work: education, sidewalk counseling, politics, working in pregnancy help centers, manning information booths, writing letters, offering a shelter home for women, rescuing. And yes, I've been to jail a few times. And my husband was always there encouraging me and holding down the fort when necessary. I've never been more than a small foot soldier in the Church Militant of pro-life warriors. I confess I'm a weary one these days.

In fact, most of my activism now is at the keyboard, but I continue to do what I can to spread the truth and defend the babies. They are the brothers and sisters of my own children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. And I will never stop witnessing to their value and their right to life. That little embryo frozen in a cryopreservation orphanage has rights equal to the richest or most powerful person on the planet, more perhaps, because the weak and vulnerable are especially close to the heart of God. "Whatever you do to the least of these little ones, you do it to Me." Matt 25:40.

Heroes of the Pro-Life movement: Nellie Gray, founder of March for Life
with Joe Scheidler founder of the Pro-Life Action League

I'd appreciate prayers that I can give the respect and honor due to the many early leaders in the pro-life movement. They forged the way and made the United States the bedrock of pro-life action, a model for the whole world. And many did it at great personal sacrifice and without any worldly reward - only persecution and abuse. Their dedication to God and zeal for souls motivated them and some had a great influence in the conversion of abortionists and abortion staff. How many souls were saved by the grace of God through their actions?

Without the pro-life movement here in the U.S. perhaps the prediction of the pro-abortionists would have come true. They said Roe v. Wade ended the matter and opposition would die. Instead, it is greater than ever today and new recruits continually rise from among the post Roe generation: Lila Rose, David Deleiden, Abby Johnson, and many more.

Please pray for all those who will be participating in the Face the Truth tour. It begins June 22 and continues through the 27th. If you live close to one of the stops on the tour, why not join. You couldn't stand side by side with a greater group of heroes! Check out the PDF flyer here.

Our Lady of Life, interceded for us.
